The Gamers: Dorkness Rising DVD
Paizo Publishing, LLC
The Gamers: Dorkness Rising follows Lodge, Dungeon Master and budding writer, who wants his gaming group to finish their adventure. Unfortunately, they’re more interested in seducing barmaids, mooning their enemies, and setting random villagers on fire. Desperate to rein in his players, Lodge injects two newbies into the fray: a non-player character controlled by Lodge, whom the power gamers immediately distrust, and the rarest gamer of all—a girl. Can the group overcome their bickering to save the kingdom, or will the evil necromancer Mort Kemnon triumph unopposed? A parody of fantasy films and the adventure gaming community, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is a hilarious romp through the world of sword and sorcery—in this case, a world of exploding peasants, giant house cats, and undead roast turkeys. The trailer can be found at www.the-gamers.com.
Shot in high definition, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is the most ambitious feature film that Dead Gentlemen Productions has produced to date. It was test screened in 2006 at the Gen Con game fair to standing ovations and standing room only. Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, creators of the Dragonlance novels & New York Times Bestselling authors, called it "a critical hit! ...Original and funny—a real treat for fans of both fantasy and gaming.”

The original "The Gamers" was an exceptional movie about gaming told from the perspective of a gaming group. The humor relied upon the pre-existing experience of the viewer in order to grasp many of the jokes. This made the movie unapproachable for many.
The second movie in the series, not truly a sequel, takes all that was good and unique about the first movie, makes it better, and then adds ninjas! And pirates! As we all know everything is better with pirates. In all seriousness, this movie is far better scripted and has a broader appeal than the first. I recommend it as a way to introduce non-gamers into what gaming is actually like.
My gamer daughter and I watched this together and laughed like maniacs. My wife looked on from a distance and continued to wonder what's wrong with us. The key phrase here is Shared Experiences.
One of the funniest movies I have seen in years. Truely captures the essence of gaming and each of the different player styles. If you love gaming then you will love this movie.
I came into this not expecting much. At the end I had an ear to ear grin. This movie reminded me way too much of my group that it had me rolling.
Great movie!! I wish these guys made the D&D movie and not that other guy. I could see The Gamers being a hit T.V. series! My group laughed to tears. Loved it! A must see for gamers and nongamers alike.
A fun and enjoyable movie.
Different than, and probably not quite as funny as, the Gamers, but still a must-see.
This movie was really well made and I've watched so much I sometimes quote it, during games and out of them. Buy the DvD and support the Gamers!
They might make another movie.
I've seen a few gaming movies and this by far is the best one I've seen. It has some great jokes that are so true to life. and it really makes you look at the things that gaming brings out in people. This movie is worth buying it new here. It is better than any other gaming movie out there.
Ever since we bought this DVD about two months ago, my wife and I have continued to be entertained while watching it about every other week or so. It's apparent how much fun they had while making it, and still fun to watch.
If there is a sequel, I hope the whole cast remains in it. They are all a delight and have great chemistry in their interactions.
