These mats, first made available in 1981, have become the standard for vinyl game mats. Using water-soluble overhead-projection pens (NOT dry erase, grease pencil, or permanent markers), you can write on the vinyl and remove later with water when the adventure is done.

Sizing: Mondomats are 54” x 102” (137cm x 259cm)

Fantastic product!

What is there to say? It's a huge battle mat. It doesn't crease, it doesn't hold a roll (it stays flat when unrolled), it's not too stiff, but still stiff enough to easily roll up for storage/transport.

One of the best products you can ever buy for your gaming!

Massive, and well made!

Made of the same quality material and design Chessex uses in its smaller mats, these are excellent for above-ground battles at what I call "archery distance" engagements. The only real downside besides of course needing a large table is the time it takes to detail an appropriate amount of terrain.

Having run a convention event with two of these attached, I can tell you that setup will take more time, but the sheer size of the engagements will be well worth it (assuming someone can reacy their minis in the middle). Only lost its 5th star because there is so little support to overcome this problem.

If you've got a big gaming table...

...this is really the way to go. It's works with dry-erase markers, and you can really lay out a pretty substantial dungeon, without having to stop and erase every 10 minutes. I typically use the square side for D&D, but it is really nice that the back has a hexmap, because for the amount of money that you have to lay out for this, flexibility is essential. The vinyl is pretty much indestructable as well, and I haven't had a problem with the markers coming off yet, even after leaving the lines on for weeks at a time.

Did I mention it is big? It is in fact too large for a standard 4' x 8' gaming table. I custom-built my own gaming table which is a little over 5' x 10', and it doesn't quite cover that...it's pretty much perfect for that.

Highly recommended, if you have the space to open it all the way out!
