War of The Ring is a new way to play tabletop wargames
with Games Workshop’s range of The Lord of The Rings
Citadel miniatures.
War of The Ring allows hobbyists to expand their collections, build huge armies and play the greatest battles
of Middle-earth.
The 328 page rules manual details all the new rules needed to play War of The Ring, including army lists, special rules, magic and scenarios. The army lists include every model in The Lord of The Rings miniatures range (except Gandalf’s cart), plus a few clues as to future releases. Armies are built from the range of The Lord of The Rings plastic box sets supported by metal characters and elite units (available as blister packs).
In War of the Ring models are grouped into companies, which in turn compromise formations, and arranged on movement trays to streamline moving and fighting. Formations allow players to create battles that represent the scope and feel of the Lord of The Rings in a new and exciting way. The War of the Ring rule set offers players a fluid and intuitive movement system and ensures that large formations can become fully involved in fighting combats.
