New Pathfinder Adventure Path volume released!

The Parched Dunes hold many mysteries in the new Pathfinder Adventure Path release!

The trail of the Cult of the Forgotten Pharaoh leads in the desert with the latest Pathfinder Adventure Path volume, "Secrets of the Sphinx"! Somewhere in the Parched Dunes lies your party's goal: the stolen body of the architect Chisisek. Somewhere in this expanse is the cult's hideout: the Sightless Sphinx! But within miles of scorching sand and scrub that PCs will have to explore lie dangers like hungry predators and slavers, but also potential sources of information and aid! Unfortunately for you, the Cult of the Forgotten Pharaoh have allies of their own, and you must battle through them and face the cult's leader: the possessed Forgotten Pharaoh!

In addition to this adventure for 10th level characters is additional information on two key NPCs, as well as seven new treasures, such as the eye of Horus amulet and the scimitar of the striking wing! "Secrets of the Sphinx" has a new article, "The Perilous Wastes," giving you four plot hooks and two complete encounters that you can adapt and expand to suit any desert-themed campaign! But no discussion about tombs is complete without learning about some of the perils inherent in exploring them, and "Curses of the Ancients" gives game masters new options to make players pause the next time bestow curse is uttered! Creeping senility will make any wizard shudder in fear, and liars of all kinds will want to avoid the font of truth curse! New spells like abeyance ease the effects of curses, or you can exacerbate them with aggravate affliction! Cursed items like carnivorous jars and constrictor armor round out this accursed article, and leads us into "In the Belly of the Crocodile" Pathfinder Journal entry from Amber Scott. Finally, four new monsters (and their variants) finish out this volume: the jackal-headed cynosphinx, estuarine worm, panthereon golem, and stranglereed!

Check out the upcoming Mummy's Mask adventure, "The Slave Trenches of Hakotep", but players will not want to miss the free Mummy's Mask Player's Guide or Pathfinder Player Companion: People of the Sands while exploring the deserts of Osirion in the Mummy's Mask Adventure Path!

So four monsters not five, did they have to move one up to the next volume like they did before?

The first one had four. They seem to vary in number from edition.

Yep! I almost always aim for five per volume, except for the first volume of an Adventure Path because the campaign outline takes up those pages. During the course of an AP, sometimes other parts of the volume require more space, and since monsters are often modular and take up only two pages, they are the ones sacrificed. I'm almost always able to fit them into a later volume. In the last four APs, I've only ended up with two or three monsters that don't yet have a home in print.

Four monsters per volume is the absolute lowest I'll go. If you ever see fewer than four monsters in a Pathfinder Bestiary, you can be sure that I'm as upset as you are about it. :)

AWESOME! I've been secretly wondering if something like the canisphinx from WotC's Sandstorm would pop up! Squee intensifies

Looks like we'll be getting a new vermin and plant monster, too! :3

So the one that was supposed to be in this volume will be in the next one or the last one? Just checking:-)

I don't remember exactly where it moved (I don't have my tracking sheet at home), but I'm pretty sure all Mummy's Mask monsters are accounted for.
