The staff and contributors of Open Design were out in force at PaizoCon 2012 this weekend, and hot off the presses we've got the latest from the mines!
With so many exciting new roleplaying games on the horizon, it's a great time to be the "Switzerland of Gaming!" In the pages of Kobold Quarterly #22, you'll find articles like "Barbatos: Gatekeeper of Golarion's Hells" penned by Paizo editor-in-chief Wes Schneider for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, new information on dragonkin for 4th Edition, sneak peeks at the Journeys to the West patronage project for Castles & Crusades, game mastering advice from Monte Cook—just to start! We get "The Escalation Die", a peek at the upcoming 13th Age system designed by longtime gaming industry veterans Rob Heinsoo and Jonathan Tweet, archery spells like ghostly arrow and heartstrike for Pathfinder, firearms for the AGE system, interviews, letters, book reviews, rules questions, even an article on how to question captives!
You'd think we'd be done with telling you how much awesome is in store for Kobold Quarterly #22, but nope! A short 4th Edition adventure, "The Scaled Steamhall" is great for adding to your high-level game, but Pathfinder Society members take note—there's a great introduction to the lands of Varisia for beginners!
Check out all issues of Kobold Quarterly right here, and be sure to catch up with back issues with their Yearly PDF Bundles!
I got my copy fresh at PaizoCon! Great stuff as usual.

Thanks LMPJr! Lots of people did grab a copy at the show, and it was great to get feedback face-to-face from Kobold readers.
There's a huge amount of Pathfinder support here, and the official content by Wes Schneider is right at the top of the list. The archer spells: well, let's just say that some stuff goes right into my home campaign, and that set of spells is new and shiny and making players happy.
Not sure why this is listed as a preorder. The print copies went to the Paizo warehouse, and I'm sure they'll be shipping very soon!
Looks pretty good on the iPad. I have to admit, though, I prefer the treeware. Something about holding it in hand I just like better.

I have to admit I prefer the PDF these days, but that may have something to do with Mrs. Kobold's admonition that I must remove things from shelves if I continue to add things to the shelves.
I've maxed out the gaming space in the house--but not in digital storage!

I'm a print guy 100%. PDF is nice but I'll take a printed book or magazine every time!
My Mrs. Kobold (Mrs. Marc?) tried that admonition with me ... once ...
Just kidding :)

I will be very curious to hear from people about whether they use the Escalation Die mechanic in their home games. It seems like a really great way to change things up and speed play, but as always, proof is in the pudding.
I've only gotten to run one session with it so far, but it is very Pathfinder-friendly.
The escalation die sounds interesting to use for dragons and the BBEG of adventures... I just worry it'll be a bit too much of an aid to the PCs most of the time if it's not helping the bad guys as well.
