American Eagles October sale on now!

Time to get in the Wayback Machine again! This month, we've got some oldies and goodies for you to pick, all courtesy of American Eagles!

It's time we sat down and talked, all three of us. I know you've been seeing somebody on the side, but... I'm okay with that. We can all be together, just let me get my dice bag, you'll get yours, and The Other Roleplaying Game can come too. In the TORG Roleplaying Game, reality is made of many different realms—"cosms"—each with their own twist. From the Lovecraftian dimension of Orrosh, or the theocracy known as the Cyberpapacy, TORG presented some fantastic reimaginings and mashups of genres, and in the batch of books that we have, you'll run across these two realms—and more!

We're a fan of pulp fiction around here, as the collection of Amazing Stories in our library can attest to, and I distinctly recall the first time I read A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Space 1889 hearkens back to that era for me. Man has colonized Mars. Factions vie for control of its resources, and these sourcebooks will give you plenty of details on running this Victoriana-style game. We've also found a few books for the far-flung future roleplaying game detailed in Alternity, including the Alien Compendium and Alien Compendium 2! Creature books are a fantastic springboard, no matter what game system you play, and it's fun to use something completely unexpected and keep your players guessing!

Halloween is just around the corner, and spookify your game night with some Werewolf or Chill RPG! Howl at the moon, create a creepy haunted house, fight against the Wyrm—it's all possible with these great RPG products from the past!

Check out everything that we've got from American Eagles right here!

Oh joy of joys, ever since the American Eagle sale began, I've been waiting for some product from my favorite 2nd edition campaign setting, Birthright.

TORG rocks!

TORG does rock; excellent game; love the action cards; hehe love hearing the "Heroes are UP" hehe and the others are great too; bit like RIFTS on a smaller scale; more personal with threads to our 20th-21st century life; like a really cool what if story. I really like the idea that you are a small reality engine and take your reality with you. A very cool well thought out system and storyline. Excellent, with variety of character types for any style role player.

I had a TORG campaign that lasted through the entire 90s -- from 1990 to 1999, with only a one year break in the middle. That game really marked my "formative years" as a GM and shaped how I run games today, even Pathfinder: Cinematic style, emphasis on action and creativity, arranging sessions and adventures into dramatic sections, etc.

Taking a closer look at the rules through the lens of all the game design theory I've absorbes since then, I see it as a patchwork that is elegant in some places and inelegant in others. So I ended up converting it to Savage Worlds instead. Made a document you can find at http://getsavaged.blogspot.com/ if you are interested. With that document I ran a successful Savage Torg campaign a few years ago and I'm about to start another.

I keep wishing Pinnacle would purchase TORG, or at least the new German owners put out a new, updated, streamlined, awesome version. A game that good doesn't deserve what its publishers did to it! :)
