Four More Genius Guides for the PFRPG!

Keeping up with a weekly release schedule is tough work! And I know no tougher fellas than the Super Geniuses. Here are their most recent Genius Guides to boost your Pathfinder Roleplaying Game nights:

The Genius Guide to Arcane Archetypes expands the magical options for many characters. It presents a suite of archetype packages that provide the material necessary to give spellcasting classes new forms of arcane magic or to add arcane power to classes that normally lack it.

The Genius Guide to the Armiger introduces the armiger base class—a warrior who specializes in defensive techniques and the use of shields and heavy armor. As a great tactician once noted, the best way to win a fight is to be the last man standing. Or, put more colloquially, sometimes the best offense is a good defense!

The Genius Guide to Air Magic focuses only on air spells, leaving more lightning- and rain-focused spells for future guides. While there may be some overlap (thunder, being a phenomenon entirely of air, sneaks into a few spells), the new class options presented go further afield than the spells themselves.

The Genius Guide to the Time Thief presents a new base class, the time thief, a character whose abilities all focus on various aspects of swimming the wrong way up the time stream. Playing with probability, the time thief can peer into the future to avoid bad decisions, and steal time from their own (and others') futures to fuel their own reality-bending powers.

If you’re looking for more options for your Pathfinder RPG sessions, these Genius Guides are a great place to start!

This cover reminds me of Adventures of Emmanuelle.

Cool nice for SGG to get a blog entry for their products and cool for "Veronic F" to get the exposure so to speak. :)

Isn't that Jenny Poussin on the cover?

Yes it is Tommaso ... I go by "Veronic" now (my other 1st name) for more mainstream projects - my work with Playboy and the like don't agree well with my latest projects like acting! :-)

I'll be at GenCon with the guys from "Genius" to signs prints! :-)
I was really proud to be part of that project!
It makes me wanna try to do a Assassin kinda character one day!
Geisha-Harem style: seduce and kill! grrrr

Scarab Sages

We're incredibly happy to be able to work with another gamer to get this cover, and the interior art as well is all Veronic.

I... I could write that...

The Temptress from D20 Conan works well for that, of course it is not updated for pathfinder. But I always liked the class, maybe SGG could use it as a base to do a PFRPG version. (hint hint, nudge nudge, wink wink.) :)

Owen: If you wanna go ahead and write up a character like that, I would love to play it! I do need to get used to the basics tho so if its a bit complex maybe better save it for later! :-)
I tried a Pathfinder Priestess recently and found it a bit hard to play.
So now I'm playing a fighter!

Wow, the Geisha-Harem Assassin sounds like something for Valkyries & Viragos... or better yet, Vampires and Vixens.

Veronic would be a perfect fit to have in either.

I have actually written something for this already for my setting in Lands of the Jade Oath called a Silk Tiger Agent.

You gonna need a tailor for that? ;)

BTW I am adding my vote for a Temptress style class being made for Pathfinder.

Scarab Sages

I am sorry but this cover reminds me of the covers by avalanche press, which is not a good thing.

Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would argue that there's nothing on Avalanche Press that comes close to looking like a live female, and we feature not just an actual person but a gamer on our cover. Further, she's not made up to be a cheesecake viking, or a samurai in peek-a-boo armor, which were the major objections I heard about Avalanche covers.

Veronic went to considerable trouble to fit our shoot into her schedule. We put together a costume and weapons that match the tone we wanted for one way to play the class, to the best of our ability. No, she doesn't look Persian. But we aren't setting the product in Persia, but a mythic land with a similar aesthetic and vocabulary. That may not match what you would have done with the cover, but that will always be true for someone no matter what we put on it.

Veronic had received considerable support and accolades from roleplayers for doing Pathfinder cosplay. We thought it would be fun to actually make her an iconic for a class of ours. She thought so too. I hope despite being compared to art of imaginary women with broken spines who graced some of the most salacious RPG covers to be sold without mature warning stickers, she still does.

Hey gamers!

Everyone is going to have their opinions about this kind of thing, and I say Oh well to them! Hehe! I actually really like the costume on her in the picture, aside from the fact that I did not sew it...Hello, I make figure suits and costumes for a living! J/K! :o) It reminds me of a type of belly dancing outfit that Shakira would wear. And she always has the cutest!

Anyhow, some people are going to like it, others not...Remember how much controversy the Seoni cheesecake Christmas card got? Well, personally I like this kind of thing and glad you did it with class and in good taste. Just wanted to put my little word in, especially since costumes were involved. :o)

I recognize that in her left hand she has a kukri but what's the weapon in her primary hand?

Going to have to check out the artwork on those. (The "broken spines" thing doesn't sound good though.)

As for the Seoni Christmas card thing, my main complaint with it was the two left feet on the drawing.

Jenny's a hottie and I love the persian-themed settings, so it's a win-win for me in spite of the fact that I don't normally go for photographs in my RPG artwork.

Is it weird that I am now curious about the "broken spine" illustrations?

Personally, I love the work on this product and would have no problem with seeing more of this type and quality of work.

Thee only complaint about the cover is that I kinda would have liked to seen the picture zoomed back a little bit showing more of a full body shot on the cover instead of more of a closeup, but I also have not seen inside the book to tell whether or not it was a good idea. And my reasoning for that is somewhat obvious...I enjoy female bodybuilding/figure and it's a physique thing for me hehe. I did look at some of your other covers and it seemed like they were more of full body shot types of artwork. I definitely appreciate the color choices in the picture! :o)

Jodi,

For this image there isn't much below the thigh, although some of the other images are full-body shots.

Don't get me wrong, it looks good I'm just sorta jaded by figure competitions and figure pictures haha! The other photos look great! :oD
