I am super excited about Kingmaker, our new Pathfinder Adventure Path, which kicks off this week with Pathfinder Adventure Path #31: Stolen Land. This Adventure Path reminds me of my first-ever campaign in the early 1980s. My band of adventurers entered the Keep on the Borderlands, eventually subjugating the Caves of Chaos and conquering the land around it. I still have my hand-drawn maps of the area around the keep and the caves, along with a key for all the nasty monsters living in the various hexes. Well, Kingmaker brings you back to those times, as your characters are given a swath of land in the northern part of the River Kingdoms to conquer or die trying. I can't wait to see what my gaming group does with this campaign!
Enter the Stolen Lands, a wilderness claimed by nobles, bandits, and beasts alike. Into this territory the fractious country of Brevoy sends its emissaries, tasking them with subduing the lawless folk and deadly creatures that have made it a realm of savagery and shame. Beyond the last rugged frontier stretches the home of voracious monsters, capricious fey, wily natives, and bandits who bow to the rule of a merciless lord none dare defy. Can the PCs survive the Stolen Lands, bring their dangers to heel, and lay the foundations of a new kingdom? Or will they just be one more fateful band, lost forever to the ravenous wilds?
In addition to “Stolen Land,” a Pathfinder RPG adventure by Tim Hitchcock for 1st-level characters, Pathfinder Adventure Path #31 contains so much more to make your campaign that much more magical, including a gazetteer of Brevoy, a country of ancient grudges and noble rivalries; new rules for turning exploration into a different kind of adventure; a new misadventure for disgraced noble scion Ollix Kaddar in the Pathfinder’s Journal; and five new monsters, including the first of a monthly series of beasties from Ed Greenwood!
