If you grew up on tales of red planets, strange creatures from Venus, wonders hidden beneath thick clouds, or entities drifting in the blackness of space, then your Pathfinder campaign is about to get a jolt from the skies!

Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Distant Worlds has been years in the making. Whether we first hinted at what lay beyond the confines of Golarion's skies with the Sovyrian gates used by the elves or an obsessed Osirian pharaoh's research in "Entombed with the Pharaohs", fans have been clamoring for more material on the planets of Golarion's solar system. The first appearance of a solar system gazetteer back in Pathfinder #14 only whetted appetites for more on planets like Aucturn or Eox. Now that I finally have Distant Worlds in my hot little hands, it's time to train our telescopes on these planets!

Every planet in Distant Worlds has at least a page devoted to it (even the Sun): adventuring hooks, notable sites, what an adventurer has to worry about when going there. The machine entities of sun-scorched Aballon dwell in the Cities of the First Ones, defending those that would plunder the ruins for its secrets. The matriarchal lashunta of green Castrovel ride on their lizard-like steeds in the city-state of Qabarat, trading in both goods and unusual knowledge. On red Akiton, the towering four-armed Shobhads raid settlements of Ysoki rat-men or trading groups of the red-skinned lizardfolk of the deep desert.

Beyond the warmer planets of the inner system, things take a turn for the strange. Need to sail between the planets—go to Skydock on the planet Verces. Delicate ecosystems exist in the asteroid belt knows as the Diaspora, mostly populated by the thin, bird-like sarcesians, avoiding such puzzles like the labrynthine Vacant Halls or the Wailing Stone. Travelers of the stars would do well to avoid the Eoxian corpse ships, piloted by the unnerving and amoral bone sages, fear the poisonous gases of Liavara, and steer clear of the cancerous moon of Thyst.

Thousands of miles from where you started in the coastal town of Sandpoint, pursued every step of the way by assassins of every kind, has finally come down to this final showdown in the last part of the Jade Regent Adventure Path!

Arriving at the head of a rebel army, the PCs seek to wrest control of Minkai from the hands of the tyrannical Jade Regent in "The Empty Throne." Hundreds of years of plotting and planning must be undone, and change does not come easy, even to the suppressed citizens of the capital city of Kasai. While the Jade Regent fortifies a stronghold for the final battle, the PCs must dodge foes while trying to seek the aid of the deceased rulers of Minkai. The terrible corruption that the Jade Regent has wrought has left many of them restless and violent, and other malign rulers of the past arise to stop the party as well.

With the Regent's forces occupied, the Jade Regent's stronghold must be infiltrated, but now is the time for the party to do a little skullduggery of their own. The Jade Regent and his allies have had decades of working together, but the PCs must pry apart their alliance, using their secrets against them if they want to reclaim the throne and free Minkai from his despotic rule!

Will you use your Magic Moment to charm a city guard, or will you save it you have to remove a terrible curse from your friend?

One of the best things about these cards is that players can play them at any time, on anything—friend or foe—but they're also incredibly useful for building up character background. Pull the Nightmare card, and perhaps your character saw beloved family members rising from the grave, or they are in search of a Lost Loved One, or perhaps you failed to save someone under your care (Regret). While we've included rules snippets for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, you can use these cards in any roleplaying game in almost every genre!

In "The Chalice of Death," we've culled together three more of science fiction master Robert Silverberg's early stories. In the titular novella, the people of Earth once spanned the galaxy, reigning as a force of law and order. That was thirty thousand years ago, the empire long vanquished and forgotten by all but a few, and even the location of Earth is buried in the footnotes of fading historical treatises. Now Hallam Navarre, against all odds, must find the secret weapon of his ancestors or be doomed to suffer the same fate as his ancient homeworld!

Tales of roguish scoundrels are a favorite of a lot of people, and in "Starhaven," fugitive Johnny Mantell makes it to a pirate sanctuary, but may not be able to make a new home for himself there unless he submits to the mind probes of its dictator. In the final tale, "Shadow on the Stars" sends colonist Baird Ewing back to Earth after a thousand years to find aid for his colony. The cost of the aid Ewing finds is high, and saving his home could come at a terrible price.

Even when garbed in new clothes, some problems are the same wherever you go, and with this month's Pathfinder Society scenarios, your adventurer will be defending the helpless and outsmarting your enemies in strange new places!

The final part of The Quest for Perfection arc is here, and in "Defenders of Nesting Swallow", the PCs have learned that their last hope to resurrect an ancient artifact lies in a small village beset by bandits. The collapse of imperial Lung Wa a hundred years ago left many of its nations disorganized, and the nation of Shokuro has regressed toward a rural state. Some bandits dream of something larger, and with brutal assaults on ill-prepared farmers, some are well on their way to controlling the sparse resources of Shokuro. When a chance roadside encounter draws your Pathfinder Society agent directly into a conflict pitting farmers against a well-organized bandit group, you'll have a chance to prepare the village before the final assault begins!

Long-time rivals of the Pathfinder Society, the Aspis Consortium has made a mad dash to claim the relic known as the Hao Jin Tapestry with the final part of Wonders in the Weave, "Snakes in the Fold". Throwing obstacles in a Pathfinder Society agent's way is just one of the many techniques the Consortium uses, and this time, there's a whole lizardfolk village between them and their goal! Brute force won't work here, and the PCs will have to use every trick in the diplomat's bag to earn the trust of the lizardfolk and stop the Aspis Consortium's schemes.

To win back the throne of Minkai for the rightful heir, in Pathfinder Adventure Path #53: "Tide of Honor" the party must win the hearts and minds of restless Minkans struggling under the despotic rule of the Jade Regent. A spiral of ever-increasing demands, done in the name of the emperor but in truth sating the Jade Regent's need for power has sparked some into open defiance. Outraged, the dissidents have fled to northern Minkai, and whispers say the Regent is mobilizing his forces to crush them before they can gain any further support among the citizens. Time is running out for the rebels, but with the aid of a few good adventurers, they might be able to turn the tide and make a stand against the Jade Regent!

Dealing with cruel bandits preying upon common folk, gaining the aid of outcast warriors ready to take up arms in the name of a true heir, and impressing influential people—these are just some of the tasks that await the party in the fifth part of Jade Regent Adventure Path! Unfortunately for them, the Jade Regent isn't likely to stop the relentless wave of assassins determined to eliminate the heir (and any PCs that stand in their way) before they reach the capital city of Kasai. Not willing to take any more chances, the Regent has called in allies of his own—ones that will not be swayed by the threat of death or eternal oblivion!

At Gen Con this year we launched the new season of our Pathfinder Society Organized Play and themed it after The Ruby Phoenix Tournament. In this volume, the party starts to uncover the conspiracy at the heart of this adventure after investigating a murder at a consulate. We've just received some great Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures collections in for the store so our singles are ripe for the picking!

Painting a metal mini is great for your character, or a particularly nasty unique villain, but who wants to paint a dozen kobolds or town guards? Are you ready to brave the Tuunma river in far-away Tian Xia, meet strange new people, and replenish a long-dead artifact?

In the first scenario for Pathfinder Society Organized Play, we enter into the second part of "The Quest for Perfection" arc. In "On Hostile Waters", the Pathfinder Society agents journey downriver through the troubled nations of Kaoling, Lingshen, and Shaguang. Since the fall of imperial Lung Wa a hundred years ago, these realms have had a long-simmering rivalry that threatens to boil over. Seeking the same artifact as the Pathfinders, agents from militant Lingshen desire it for their own political ends—and aren't afraid to use every means at their disposal to get it!

In our second Pathfinder Society Scenario this month, the masked leaders of the Pathfinder Society, the Decemvirate, have sent many a Pathfinder agent on missions to retrieve strange relics from dusty tombs, but their latest find has unexpected and deadly twists! "The Dog Pharaoh's Tomb" will require your plyaers to use every trick up their sleeves (and their buddy's too) to get past the fiendishly difficult puzzles that await, and they'll not only discover fabulous new treasures, but meet an old foe as well!

Sometimes you gotta set your favorite game aside, even for a moment, to recharge your creative batteries (particularly if you're a GM). Playing with another system always gives me perspective to tackle my campaign with new insights, and we're bringing a little attention to some of the games that we like to play around the office (that is when we aren't playing Pathfinder)!

If you're looking to scratch that fantasy roleplaying game itch, you should check out the fifth edition of Ars Magica! Available in both print and PDF versions, this system really changed the way many people looked at magic in roleplaying games. With an emphasis on storytelling, and long-term magical studies, your mage gets to discover the wonders and dangers of a mythical medieval Europe! On a similar (yet different) note, the latest book in the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay line from Fantasy Flight Games always causes heads to turn when a new copy shows up! A burly starter set with not one, but four rulebooks, special dice, and ability cards to keep play moving, the Core Set will place characters in the hands of fate in the Old World!

It's no secret that we love ourselves some Lovecraft 'round here, and the Call of Cthulhu: 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition is a great way to get into this modern-age, madness-inducing, SAN-sapping, investigative roleplaying game! Ordinary people facing extraordinary creatures can sometimes become heroes—or more often than not, part of a Great Old One's mid-round snack. Jump into this frightening world and give your sanity a workout!

Dialing things into the near-future, Catalyst Games has released a revamped edition of Shadowrun in time for its 20th anniversary, and it is full of win! Such an amazing setting now has a rules set that is equally impressive and innovative. And they continue to release new adventures and supplements (including info on those dastardly corps in the Corporate Guide) for everything your crew might run across—be sure to keep the Sixth World Almanac handy for game ideas!

Looking for a bit more sci-fi, then Eclipse Phase might just be your game. Newly-released, this RPG is set in the future, in an era where humanity has spread beyond our home planet, and what it means to be human is in question. In Eclipse Phase, each player controls one mind but many bodies—one body for deep sea exploration, one for infiltration and assassination, and another for social engineering. The first five books for Eclipse Phase are available here, along with information on numerous movers and shakers of the dystopian future, habitats on Mars, and even info on the Pandora Gates!

And for those die-hards that just love them some Warhammer 40,000, those crazy guys at Fantasy Flight Games have four fantastic systems that will scratch your itch: Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, and Black Crusade! Many things threaten the human-dominated Imperium, and each of these systems provides unique ways to approach those threats—all equally dangerous. Whether as a front line grunt, a self-centered heretic, an unscrupulous inquisitor, or caught-in-the-wrong-place scoundrel, the Warhammer 40k universe is in need of a few good people... preferably with a great aim and hale body.

Many of us grew up with games like Monopoly, Risk, or Scrabble, but now there's a whole new world of board games to play. Games like Settlers of Catan and Carcassone were the first German-style board games to really take hold of the gaming market and they started a revolution. 15 years later, there are literally hundreds of games that fall into this category but everyone will tell you it all started with these.

Settlers of Catan, the classic resource management board game, pits the players against one another as they build roads and settlements around a hexagonal tiled board, collecting victory points in the process. Settlers has enough strategy to slate even the experienced players interests but is still simple enough for beginners to enjoy. And with a similar strategy level, Carcassone has the players build the board as they go by laying down square tiles drawn randomly from a bag and scoring points as they go. This exciting mechanic allows for a unique gaming experience every time. There are also numerous expansions available for both so there's never a possibility for a stale game!

Deck-building games have emerged as one of the hot new game types in the past few years and no one should miss the game that put this genre on the map: Dominion! A fast card game that is perfect for beginners and experienced players alike, no game ever plays the same. Each expansion adds great new options and opens up new strategies to players for winning, whether it's using the Thief to steal Treasure Cards, or the Festival and Market cards to gain additional actions during your turn!

Speaking of card games, there's one classic that fills the "quirky" and "crazy" and "fun" categories—Munchkin, of course! A crazy card game of deals and counter-deals while players try to collect as much Loot as possible to gain Levels and win! You can also customize your Munchkin with a variety of different flavors to suit your gaming pleasure—Classic, Conan, Cthulhu, and even Spies and Zombies to name a few! Mix and match your sets for even zanier fun!

There are a ton of great board games out there but the classics are classics for a reason. Grab one of these for your next family get-together or game night and don't forget about your holiday discount!

If you remember when dungeons were deep, caverns were cold, and elf was a class, then Frog God Games has an adventure that will chill your bones!

In "The Black Monastery", adventurers will get a chance to explore this mysterious edifice. Appearing only once every twenty years atop the Hill of Mornay when the stars are in the correct alignment, the rumors of what lies within are many, but the facts few. Stories of the corruption of the brotherhood that founded the hilltop fortress are numerous, and tales told by the fireside of malign influences poisoning the land persist even to modern times. Still, like a moth to flame, the Monastery lures in the bold (and the foolish)—to find its riches, to free it of its dark past, or claim it as their own. No big boss awaits in this adventure—"The Black Monastery" is a sandbox, and your players will get a chance to go whatever direction they choose. And in this place, they may want a reminder that "running" is a valid tactical choice!

Pathfinder characters won't want to enter into this corrupt site until they're at least 7th level, but if your prefer it old-school, you'll also be able to get "The Black Monastery" for your Swords & Wizardry game!

Old allies get a facelift in the latest from Reaper with this month's Pathfinder Miniatures release!

In the coastal town of Sandpoint, all the locals will tell you that Shalelu Andosana is the best guide to help you through the hinterlands of the Lost Coast. Appearing in not one, but three Adventure Paths, she's got an arrow for any goblin that crosses her path, and if you get on her good side, she might even follow you across the world! This latest version depicts her as she appears on the cover of "Night of Frozen Shadows", and is perfect for any elven forest guardian.

As soon as he finishes studying his book, Khalib, Runelord Apprentice is ready to open your mind to a world of arcane torture! Originally appearing in the final part of the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path, he makes for a fantastic wizard miniature for your game... but is he friend, or foe?

Finally, we have the savage monkey men of the Mwangi Expanse—the charau-ka! You'll get two Charau-Ka Warriors, both of which come armed with a mini-arsenal to defend their territory, or attack at the whim of the Gorilla King!
