Jailhouse Rock

Deputized by the interstellar police force known as the Stewards after freeing a colony from Azlanti occupation, the heroes journey to the Azlanti Star Empire to rescue their friend who is being held captive on a well-guarded prison moon. After visiting an outlaw space station nearby, the heroes stage a daring breakout under the nose of the penal colony's warden. But the experimental starship drive is still out there, and the heroes must track it down to prevent the Azlanti from making it operational!

This volume of Starfinder Adventure Path continues the Against the Aeon Throne Adventure Path and includes:

  • "Escape from the Prison Moon," a Starfinder adventure for 3rd-level characters, by Eleanor Ferron.
  • A detailed look at the culture, history, and territories of the expansionist Azlanti Star Empire, as well as a trove of Azlanti gear both magical and technological, by Robert G. McCreary, with Jason Keeley and Lyz Liddell.
  • An examination of many of the species conquered by the Azlanti Star Empire, by Saif Ansari.
  • An archive of new creatures, from radioactive dragons to plants that produce areas of zero gravity, by Eleanor Ferron, Joe Pasini, David N. Ross, and Owen K.C. Stephens.
  • Statistics and deck plans for an Azlanti prison-guard vessel, plus a glimpse of a space station on the fringes of Azlanti Star Empire space, by Eleanor Ferron.

Any clue what levels this adventure is intended to accommodate?

Considering Starfinder has only one advancement track and that this book has the same page count as the other Starfinder APs, assuming it mimics the first AP, this second installment of AtAT will probably start at level 3 and end at level 5.

The third book would then start at 5 and go to 7.
That is only an educated guess though.

I do hope that this prison moon isn't named "Prison Moon". I mean, I would assume there exists more than one of those xD

I hope we have to break out of the "Prison Moon"

Just realized I goofed. the title suggests that my previous response was unnecessary. oops

Had a look at the sanctioning document for AtAT and noticed it gives the names of two of the races in this book which just makes me more excited!

Race names:
The races are called the Brakim and the Stellifera!

Escaping under the warden's nose? Why yes, I would love it if this turned into Hogan's Heroes!

I have the PDF of this adventure and will be able to answer questions tomorrow evening.

I'd want to know about the monsters (types, subtypes, CR).

Hi David.

How big is the space station (huge, gargantuan, colossal, supercolossal)?

Which species have been conquered by the Azlanti?

Thanks a bunch! ;-)

Spoiler:
Outpost Zed has a diameter of one mile. It is statted like a planet, not like a spaceship.

Spoiler:

Stelliferas are diminutive magical beasts with the aquatic subtype.
Vilderaros are monstrous humanoids with the aquatic subtype.
Iztheptars and Skreedreeps are small humanoids.
All other detailed races are medium humanoids.
All humanoids in this section have their own subtypes.
All detailed subject races except Iztheptars are defined as player character races.

Man I hope today is my day to get this, got a couple of long travel days and would love to have a PDF to sink my teeth into. I'm curious if you could tell me how the conquered species section is organised and laid out? How much info do we get on each species?

There is a single page that lists all of the conquered species, with a short paragraph for each. Elsewhere, there are a couple of pages enumerating the planets of the empire, with very brief mentions of their inhabitants. Seven of these races get single page spreads later -- one as a monster and six as PC races.

Sweet, thanks! Follow up question, is there any canon reason Iztheptars aren't statted as a player race or is it just due to some kind of out-of-game reasoning?

Any cool new info on the Azlanti?

Oh, yes. Far more than I can share. They are a lawful evil monarchy that controls multiple solar systems. In many ways, they are (in practical terms) a bigger and nastier version of the Veskarium.

Sorry, I will have to leave that one for someone else to answer. All I am really sure about is that they got a monster entry and not a PC race entry. Somebody else will have to figure out why.

Would anyone with the book be willing to share a little more about the new player races? Is one of them really diminutive? Any interesting racial abilities we haven't seen before?

Spoiler:

The most interesting racial ability is the Hydrobody ability of the diminutive, aquatic (not amphibious), and very weak Stellifera. The Hydrobody basically overcomes all of these very serious weaknesses.

How does the whole prison break in/out play? Does it read like it will be a fun adventure to run?
