No Quarter Given

Longshadow, a wealthy refinery town, now faces the perils of war. If the Ironfang Legion seizes the walled settlement, its grip will tighten across all of Nirmathas, and the local mines and refineries will grant it enough raw materials to fuel its engine of war indefinitely. But the Legion's heavy focus on Longshadow leaves its flanks vulnerable to a campaign of sabotage and harassment! Can the PCs end the hobgoblin siege, and in the process discover the secret behind the Ironfang Legion's lightning-quick raids and unseen troop movements?

This volume of Pathfinder Adventure Path continues the Ironfang Invasion Adventure Path and includes:

  • "Assault on Longshadow," a Pathfinder adventure for 8th-level characters, by Benjamin Bruck and Thurston Hillman.
  • A gazetteer detailing Longshadow's history, plus its diverse denizens and locales, by Thurston Hillman.
  • A look at the faith of Hadregash, the goblinoids' hero-god of domination and slavery, by Jason Keeley.
  • A bestiary packed with new troops and threats from across Nirmathas and beyond, by Benjamin Bruck, Liz Courts, and Paris Crenshaw.

ISBN-13: 978-1-60125-935-6

Really good

5/5

Wow. Just wow.

5/5

I'm starting to feel like Paizo has really outdone themselves with this Adventure Path. It's becoming obvious that each installment in the series strives for a different theme-- and that these thematic elements flow logically from one volume to the next, taking players on a journey which is as emotional as it is glorious. While AP # 115 was about fleeing for survival in the face of brutal, overwhelming savagery, for example, and while AP # 116 was about securing a place of refuge and creating a sense of community and home in the untamed frontier, "Assault on Longshadow" is about finally going on the offensive-- even if the players are only taking their first few cautious, tentative steps along those lines. In terms of adventure content, "Assault on Longshadow" has a fair amount of wilderness exploration, a couple of roleplaying opportunities (one of them is pivotal, in terms of story arc), and a series of hit-and-run engagements against the enemy-- culminating in the Adventure Path's first major battle. What else can I say? I don't know if the quality of this Adventure Path can be sustained over another three volumes, but halfway in, it's off to a more than impressive start. Five stars.

Announced for April! Cover image and description are not final.

Very nice! Keep this AP coming! I really like it.

I am a sucker for a good gazetteer! Longshadow? Cool.

That answers what next deity would be detailed. Neat! Also I am a sucker for the gazzeteers.

Dot.

I keep thinking of Age of Worms when I hear the word/name Longshadow.

A gobby god? Noice.

I guess Hadregash is the Ironfang Legion's patron deity, which makes sense considering he's a goblin god and Lawful Evil. In my campaign, hobgoblins worshipped Moloch.

Axial,

That's SO weird! I had them worshipping Moloch too! That and Dispater. :)

Moloch and Dispater do fit hobs rather well.

Is that a young/large Bulette in the background?
The minotaur looks like a cow.

Oh, so the witch is the fourth iconic.

Minotaur is a female, so it mostly we have ever see in art work is the male of the species. So, females could look as if a female of the cattle species?

Just don't say that to her face... she'll get angry.

She's one bad Mooother- (shut your mouth).

Thurston, what one piece of unlikely equipment would most help a party survive this adventure?

I curiously like the female Minotaur. Nice to see dimorphism in our anthropomorphised antagonists.

Wouldn't mind a mini of her...Erik?

YES

That would be killer.

Silver Crusade Contributor

Seconding the miniature request. The DDM/PFB lines are very short on well-dressed minotaurs, and a minotaur woman* would be a first.

*I'm disinclined to count a certain character from Wrath of the Righteous - she was something else.

Finally!

Who's milking who now b$~#%es!!

kicks dead Molthuni soldiers.

Feiya again? Hey, I don't mind seeing one of my fave iconics in successive APs.
That pose of hers...um, wow?!

Looking like a fun AP, ladies and gents!

I will say these covers are particularly bad for obscuring important parts of the underlying scene.

Dark Archive

"Hepzamirah" (WR#51) may look different, but certainly has the hooves, the horns and the tail to qualify as a female minotaur.

I´d much rather have female versions of staple creatures that havn´t been made into ppm before, like a female
-Hill Giant,
-Troll ("naked", not dressed as the female Ice Troll),
-Cyclops (without wings and red skin like the "Daughter of Imerta"),
-Ogre Mage,
-Fire Giant,
-Ogre.

After that we can talk about secondary miniatures for the same creature. ;-)

Naw, I think I'll stick with the lovely angry minotaur lady, TYVM! :)

I foresee a lot of TPKs in this AP caused by players who do not understand the concept of guerilla warfare.

The minotaur reminds me of this scene: Can I go home?

Oh... I see that it seems all of the covers for this AP have been released.

...Paizo, you should pace yourselves. There are people with medical conditions in the building.

Edit. Oh, okay only the first three, Paizo knows not to kill customers with the power of hype. I apologize for ever doubting your superior wisdom; I'll try not to let it happen again.

Such a peculiar good combination for the iconic. Especially as the hunter and the swashbuckler are among my top five favorite iconic characters.

I can totally picture the girls around the campfire.

Feiya and Lini arguing about spells, while Jirelle tries to get them into drinking friendly and Adowyn sharpens her arrows with a smug smile. Their companions sleeping peacefully in the background.

Certainly the girl power AP. Nice to see.

Wolf, snow leopard, and fox ...

Have we ever had such a large number of animal companions/familiars together in an iconic groups for an AP? (I too would like a picture, but just of the ACs/familiar!)

For that matter, have we ever had before a female-only group of iconics for an AP?

Carrion Crown. ^_^

(Specifically: Feiya, Merisiel, Seelah, and Seoni.)

Kal,

I thought for some reason that Valros and/or Erzen was in this. Maybe Lem. I could be wrong...

I could swear there was another all female AP group other than Carrion Crown...

There might be. I only knew the one off the top of my head. ^_^

Awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing how mine turned out, too!

I'm looking forward for a detailed (and hopefully more than 6 pages long) gazetteer of Longshadow. ;-)

Agreed. I almost unsubbed from this one until I saw what the deity articles were.

The deity articles in this AP are nice.

What's the bestiary in this one look like?

Yes, do tell? A run-down of name, type, and CR would be appreciated.

Spoiler:

Muldnal Agathion, NG, Outsider, 3 - looks like a mole and includes info on Elders, which are CR 5

Bore Worm, N, Vermin, Three versions: 5 (swarm), 7 (large), 10 (Huge)

Clockwork Excavator, N, Construct, 10

Genghryl, N, Magical Beast, 11

Glimmerhollow, N, Ooze, 9

Three Troops - Hobgoblin (CR 10), Morlock (CR 7), and Minotaur (CR 11)

EDIT: There is also a 2-headed Owlbear in the adventure proper. One head is owl, one is bear. Statistically, there is not much special about it, but the art is awesome. I want to 3D print a model of it just to watch my players poop their pants when I put it on the table. I also spy a variant geargeist and some awesome looking NPCs (nightmare bugbear slayers!).
