STRANGE AEONS Redux!

*****

GOOD:
The bright side with the "enlightened institution" can be partly used for "Pathfinder Adventure Path #109: In Search of Sanity", as the entry hall is almost the same as Briarstone Asylum and the build-up is roughly the same, only smaller.
It is a great map on it´s own too and could also be used for a meeting house of a noble and his entourage for example.
The other side with the remote and forlorn bedlam is creepy and could also substitute for a ruin full of demonic cultists or some such.

BAD:
Nothing comes to mind.

UGLY:-

This will see lot´s of use.

Great! Another Flip-Mat for Strange Aeons, especially for part 1!

Is this the map of the asylum in the first part of Strange Aeons?

It's not. The asylum in the first volume of Strange Aeons is far too large to fit on a Flip-Mat.

What Adam said. I will tell you that one of the sides is very similar to the entry section of the Asylum in the first part of Strange Aeons, so you can use it for some of the early encounters.

Thank you Adam and Stephen for doing this.

It always makes a start into an AP more special if one has a flip-mat to go with it.
You guys are awesome!

I'll take it! I'll take any reduction in drawing when I'm running an adventure. I've been using gaming paper for my Carrion Crown game and it's super convenient, very affordable, but also time consuming.

Thanks for the quick answers!

Side A looks like a miniaturized version of the lower half of Briarstone Asylum from AP #109.
It looks cool, but sadly it´s unusable for the AP.

Side B is creepy cool.

It was designed to have some of the basic encounter areas for that part of AP #109. I would disagree with you that it is unusable, you can definitely use parts of it for parts of the adventure, especially when those parts do not require a precise grid space for play.

You are correct in that it is not precise, but Briarstone Asylum is a truly massive place that would require multiple bigger Flip-Mats to cover. I toyed with presenting a snap shot in a more precise format, but it made for a very ugly and confusing map that bled off the edges.

With constraints, sometimes compromise and a bit of fudging are the best solutions.

I'm glad you like the second side.

Oh, i like the first side too!

It's just that i took measurements and expected the areas marked with B1- B19 (i think) to fit on this flipmat.
But it's of more generic usefullness this way than only specialized for AP#109.
At least the entry hall seems the right size. ;-)

I'm definetly buying this!

I think this looks handy. The front side could definitely be used as an inn with multiple rooms for guests and a large feasthall. I can't really tell what the area is in the southwest corner though.

The flip side is believable as a great mountaintop fortification.

Having just finished watching American Horror Story season 2: Asylum, I very much appreciate this map.

Also, I'm thinking this map could be useful for a certain town in Strahd's domain.

Wow. This is definitely one of the best maps in a while...not that the rest werent great, but I prefer ones that are this detailed...but very generic so they can be used in broad range of storylines.
Just ordered two copies from my local store and definitely buying the PDF when its available.
Great job, paizo.
Keep the flip mats coming!

You know what would be cool? A chart that shows which adventures can be used with which flip mats and vice versa so you can buy both together.

I wonder how many other customers are like me and would *leap* at the opportunity to purchase a Deluxe Map Pack of Briarstone Asylum; maybe divide the existing map up into quads or so, similar to the set made for Emerald Spire.

Super-subtle hinting there. Taking 20 on my Diplomacy roll.

These maps are even better looking than I thought theyd be

I would buy it, as would a lot of people i asked.

That being said, the side with the "enlightened institution" on it is really eye-popping with beautiful bright colors, far better than the picture shown.

I´ll put up a review shortly.
