Works to build NPC encounters in the streets, in the wild or in the dungeon!

5/5

When I first picked up the NPC Codex, I thought it would be what the Villain Codex would eventually become. Conversely, when I picked up the Villain Codex, I thought it would be what the NPC Codex was. Fortunately, both are great books and I may even prefer the Villain Codex as a GM, as it gives us a great selection of generic NPCs that will pop up in a variety of scenarios.

The Villain Codex Box continues the tradition of pawn quality from Paizo. They are made of sturdy cardstock with gorgeous full color artwork. Inside, you'll see everything from groups of town guards, to crazy carnival freaks, to sinister secret cults and so much more.

This pawn set works best in groups. Just grab the group in total and plop them on the map and you're ready to go! No fuss, no muss and you have all of the corresponding stats at your fingertips inside the Villain Codex.

Announced for February! Image and description are not final.

WAHHHATT??!! Man you guys keep making me buy these PAWNS... ;)

Nice to see the pawn set coming out so quickly after the book!

What we really need is a "BIGGER PAWNS" set!

With Gargantuan and Colossal creatures either as two-sided stand-up pawns, or as 4- or 5-sided "cube" (missing the underside and top or having a different top-view upper side).
The latter would eliminate the need for plastic stands.

Not sure they'd fit in the box if they got them that big Marco...

Silver Crusade

Also, and I'm being sincere, how often do you use Gargantuan or Colossal creatures?

Not that often but I have Gargantuan Blue Dragon that I would use as my mascot. :)

At low levels (1-6) almost never.

But beginning with middle levels (7-12) they appear a few times.
At high levels (13+) quite a lot.

That is for Gargantuan creatures of course.
Every Adventure Path seems to have at least one.

I have to say, I do like Paizo's gargantuan blue dragon way more.

She's less of a brute and does look quite cunning.

Franz,

Yes well this was BEFORE that came out. Trust me, I want that one, Paizo's Red and probably the Black one too.

So this is supposed to come in february.
That means march should bring the "Strange Aeons" pawns! :-)

March or April, yes I'd say so Marco.

They have a gargantuan plastic miniature for nearly every adventure path; they also include them in the paper miniatures (when they do make these, seems like they're hit or miss).

Since a gargantuan creature appears in each adventure path, and they are part of the game, it makes no sense that they don't include them for the pawns also. I'm sure that if demand were high enough, they would figure out a way to produce them.

Someone should start a gargantuan pawn set thread if you really want to get one made. It seems like there are space issues with adding gargantuan pawns to every set.

I'd rather just have bases bigger than huge.

When can we see a list of pawns in this set?

Yes, at this point, there are enough 'huger than Huge' and 'smaller than Small' creatures from Bestiary 1-5, as well as the APs and other sources to bring them together under a combined 'big and small' box.

I'd keep them flat, like all the others, rather than cubes as suggested (saves space, fits in the box better, and matches the currently extant pawns).

From the mid-levels on, we see the use of more and more of the really big critters. But even more importantly (in my opinion) is that we see Tiny and smaller creatures in use from level 1. Sure, there have been a few tiny creatures included as 'small' pawns, but nowhere near all of them. And the few that have been made haven't appeared in 'useful' quantities (such as including 1-2 pawns for creatures that usually appear in packs).

At this point, we could easily make a pawn set equal to a standard Bestiary Box, just for all the collected huger than huge and smaller than small pawns.

Please?

Here it is!

http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2q6jv?Gargantuan-pawns#33

I agree that for size reasons, adding the Gargantuan and Colossal pawns to the regular boxes probably isn't feasible. That's why we need a dedicated box of just the very large and very small stuff!

If you have the Villain codex it looks a lot like The Hierarch except its armor is mostly red and it doesn't have a shield.

I think you can google the Hierarch to see what that looks like if you don't have the book.

Mostly Medium pawns, right? How many of other sizes?

Where is the list of the pawns in the box as there is with all the other boxes?

I think he means where is the list in the product description.

Sometimes those don't show up for a few weeks. Give it some time.

I know that, but even the post before that one was answered by the image.
