Very useful for "Strange Aeons"/Call of Cthulhu!

5/5

GOOD:
Side A shows a temple behind a sea-cave or river entry consisting of 15 rooms/chambers connected by stairs and tunnels.
The smallest chambers are 2x2 squares and the biggest is roughly 9x9 squares, so that even colossal minis could be used on this map.
There is also plenty of room for possible secret passages between rooms or to continue the dungeon complex with map packs like "Dungeon Corridors" or "Dungeon Rooms".

Side B shows either rock platforms in the sea connected by 13 rope bridges or a pocket dimension lying inside strange green fog, whatever you prefer. There are 21 platforms/rock islands ranging from 1 square to roughly 5x7 squares. In between the platforms/islands are rock outcroppings that limit the visibility to the other areas, so that PCs don´t know what to expect next.

BAD: The 7 statues of a hybrid between Cthulhu and a toad on Side A are a little too many.

UGLY: nothing.

Nice one. I like the dungeon flip mats. :)

My question is this: how do you map non-Euclidean geometry on a 2D surface or get obtuse angles to act acute?

I hope this interacts with a dungeon in the Strange Aeons AP - hopefully under the Asylum in #1 or under Thrushmoore in #2!

Hopefully this comes up in PFS a time or two as well.

Ooooh. "Mythos" dungeon. Sounds intriguing!

Silver Crusade

This looks like the dungeon map used in the Crypt of the Everflame module. Can this mean a reprint is in the works? I really hope so, since I used that module to introduce 2 different groups of people to role playing games and Pathfinder a long while back (this was before the beginner box existed) and my copy is so ratty it's almost unusable.

Are the dungeon chambers Hound of Tindalos-proof?

The image is a placeholder for the real thing. We don't know what it will look like yet.

Good news, though: they have reprinted the Crypt of the Everflame dungeon mat. It's here...

Pretty good.

A temple with wells for monsters to come out of and a series of platforms/isles in the green sea.

Lots of Deep Ones/Ulat-Kini to come out of the sea.

I like this. It really tickles my "rooms per dollar" meter, with 10+ separate "rooms"/encounter locations on either side. However, I'm not entirely clear what I'm seeing on the second side. Is it green water like Marco says? Or is it some kind of floating rock platforms in a green dimensional limbo? I suppose it could be either, and I can certainly fluff it as either in my home games...but which is it supposed to be?

And on second thought I'm thinking those ridgelike things might be intended as vision obstacles instead of rocks that characters could jump on top of to skip to the next "island".

Despite the slightly confusing ambiguity of things on the second side, I think this is one of my favorite flip-mats in a long while, thanks to so many encounter "rooms". Absolutely bought.
