How should I describe this Combat Scene?

Written by professional storytellers and novelist, these cards are designed to improve your combat narrative and help you describe unique and memorable combat scenes. Listed herein are hundreds actions words and inspirational examples of their use.

How does it work?
First, choose from the below categories a suite that best match the type of damage your story's character inflicts:

  • BLUNT: Damaged caused by non-penetrating force.
  • SLASHING: Damaged caused by a sharp edge.
  • PIERCING: Damaged caused by a sharp point.
Second, choose one of the fighting styles below, base this on the fighting styles your story's character is performing:
  • FINESSE: A character whose fights with style and grace, like a Swashbuckler or Martial Artist
  • POWER: A character who fight is based on strength and vigor such as the Barbarian or Thug
  • RANGE: A character who is using a thrown or distance weapon such as a javelin or bow
This will lead you to multiple inspiring words and phase that can add depth, excitement and drama to your fight scenes!

The Action Word and Description Stacking
You can select one or multiple action words to describe your attack. For example, 1 action work could describe a ‘Stylish’ attack while two could provide a ‘Stylish’ and ‘Deceptive’ attack. You can draw as many descriptions as you like and use action words provided to enhance your finally exciting description.

What about the final Killing Blow?
Each action word contains two descriptions to serve as examples. There are one non-deadly description and one killing blow description. Use them as written or modify them to best fit your style.

I hope you enjoy your improved combat narrative.

Chris Z says:
Will these be available for purchase as a deck of cards and not the pdf? I missed the kickstarter and thought these were unique and a great purchase, but I would strongly prefer the deck of cards rather than a pdf.

Buyer beware! I just purchased this product and the download is not as described. The archive contained 3 Excel spreadsheets and a PDF of the Writer's Grid with tables. It doesn't contain a layered PDF of the cards with cut-lines as described. Very disappointed.
