Could Be Worse

**( )( )( )

3 ships, with no relation to one another. The giant ship could easily have been made to be able to scale down a little, but that would have been useful, which is against Paizo's standard for this product line. The title, "Boarding Action", does not apply to this set. For what they are, the ships are tolerable.

Great art, as usual, but not a lot of value

I felt jipped with this product. First, it came out after my Skull & Shackles campaign finished (ran it from book 1 to 6 in two years). AND Second, because the value of content left me underwhelmed.

The art- as usual, is on point and fantastic, but besides a couple of gang planks added to two decks, this map pack offers one complete ship (with not boarding action in sight) and nothing really new or necessary.

If you don't have enough ship maps or tiles, it will come in handy. But I have every ship map pack and battle map that Paizo released. I was hoping for something more.

It can basically make three ships. A three tile long, one tile wide viking longship. A four tile long, one tile wide galley that can reasonably be configured to be as small as two tiles long, in which case it looks more like a keelboat. Finally, the one that most people running a Skull & Shackles game will be excited about is a four tile long, two tile wide sailing ship. This is a very big ship and could easily represent a large battleship. Overall, this is a good buy.

Is this the first set of tiles to have the wet/dry/permanent marker film on them? It's a great idea. The existing tiles have always been less robust than the Flip-Mats, because they were un-coated cardboard.

No, we've been doing that for a while now. Since... *looks up* Map Pack Shops. :)

Ah, the replacement for GameMastery Map Pack: Boats & Ships I presume?

That's my assumption. :D

Neat, thanks. I hadn't noticed that. (Edit: 2010? I am seriously behind the times!) The coating and the carrying case are both very nice improvements over the (much) older sets.

How many ships/boats will we get out of one map pack?

For those of us who already have the GameMastery Map Pack: Boats and Ships, will this contain new maps? Or will it be recycled?

It will have new maps that are thematically similar.

Any chance for any tile previews? December is approaching and I need to make up my mind on this product... :)

I was wondering the same thing as Samy - any word on that, @Liz Courts? (Pretty please! I may want to pick up an extra copy or two of this one!)

My gaming group just finished an adventure that could have used this. I suspect that it would have been perfect. Damn! Where is that time machine when you need it? :)

Any chance that the storage boxes this comes in will be available separately for purchase to be used with older map packs?

So are these multiple panels that can be mixed and matched together to make boats? How many boats can it make at once?

Paizo Employee Designer

There are multiple panels that can be somewhat mixed and matched, but basically the set allows you to make three boats. A smaller ship, a longboat, and a larger galley. Each ship has panels that allow you to create boarding actions with the other ships or the same type of ships if you have two or more of these Map Packs.

Liberty's Edge

OOooh! Clever! Give us a convincing reason to want to buy multiple of these....

You know, with all the "pirate" themed stuff (this, Plunder & Peril, etc) coming from Paizo and Legendary Games (especially Legendary), is there another nautical AP in the pipe?
