Five Moons RPG is a new fantasy RPG by Sean K Reynolds. Its play style will be familiar to fans of D&D and the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, but focusing more on teamwork and roleplaying and less on number-crunching.

In this PDF:

  • A one-page preview of a prototype stat block for a stone giant. The numbers used in this stat block are placeholders (they might as well be "X"); the purpose of this preview is to show how this stat block format presents information in a clear and simple manner.

Interesting. I have a question about the "Ultimate PDF Backer". You say that it gets "every product from August 2015 thru August 2016", however in the "GM's Favorite" you mention every adventure for the same time frame.

Just checking that the "Ultimate PDF Backer" includes modules, as well as rules.

Thanks,

Ultimate PDF backer includes all the PDFs, including adventures/modules.

GM's Favorite is a smaller set of items than the Ultimate PDF backer.

(Checking the chart with all the dots on it shows what rewards include which items.)

Does that answer your question? :)

Yup, it does, and thanks for taking the time to answer.

Now to see if my wife will let me use my unspent "gaming" allowance to fund my addiction.

Looks good Sean. I'm following FMRPG very closely, I'm definitely behind all of your design goals and by the way, love the artwork style.

Thanks! Gerald and I have been working together on small projects for years, it's time to do a big project. :)

Awe, if Sean can do something like this, what am I afraid of? I better put up a few small products.

I am loving this whole project! The goals, the art, everything I've seen makes me happy to be backing this.

I backed for a dollar with the intent to expand later. For now every backer number puts you closer to Kickstarter front page!

I've been posting a lot of stuff on the Five Moons RPG blog over the past couple of weeks, including:

* a different way of handling critical hits
* Throwing out Vancian magic
* an overview of the associated campaign setting
* action points instead of standard/move/swift actions
* RooSackGamers podcast link
* article on undead cravings and how undead evolve into different types
* Demiplane of Gaming podcast with Owen KC Stephens (of Paizo and Rogue Genius Games) and Steve Russell (of Rite Publishing)
* A prototype filled-in warrior character sheet and another post with some additional explanations about it.

More updates from the past week:

* Orc description and art

* Monster survey results, Monster Guide info, goblin art

* A preview of some stunts (the skill character’s equivalent to the warrior’s combat feats and the wizard’s spells) and a link to the Five Moons chatlog from RPGnet chat

* A prototype filled-in wizard character sheet and some example wizard spells

* The example-of-play video showing combat, skill use, and some boosts

By the way, there's a separate thread over here, where we've been talking about the game in general and the kickstarter project. Less week to go until the kickstarter closes!

The kickstarter campaign is done, we're funded at $36,000. Thank you to everyone who made this project possible. :)

BTW, there's a short Five Moons RPG "pre-alpha playtest" document (really a couple of variant chapters for 3E) that you can take a look at right now, here is the blog post with the link. Thanks!

I have to say that after scouring the blog for a few weeks I'm sold on Five Moons. The design philosophies from your blog and the pre-alpha playtest pdf are almost spot on in reflecting my own sensibilities on how a simplified d20 should run above the numerous d20-lite systems I've seen so far. Next year I hope to make Five Moons my default system for rules-lighter fantasy roleplaying replacing D&D 5th edition.

Woo, thanks! :)
