People deal with pictures better than pure description. As GM, I can struggle making my NPCs different enough for players to care. While the limited quantity of cards here means I can use the same pack indefinitely, it provides the basis for communicating a look - dirty, angry, haughty and so forth. Rather than writing on the card, I put them in a clear sleeve and slip a printed (or hand-written) note in the back. I can then show the players what the character looks like, and easily reference key statistics / traits on the back. Well done, Paizo - more, more, more!
I just recently purchased this pack and I'm glad I did. Quality issues in past packs had caused me to hesitate. This pack has good quality cardstock and good artwork. It didn't have any cards that I can't imagine a use for; as compared to other packs with up to half the images too weird, monster-based, or cartoonish for any practical purpose. A couple faces looked like they were drawn from real-life neighbors or something. It's great. Definitely worth the money.
Looked through these last night. Well done upper torso portraits, often just the head and neck. What made me really glad I bought this is I had at least 14 new NPC character concepts to flesh out! I always really love a product that gets my imagination going, and so far this whole "face" series has been well worth the money! Only thing that could make this product better is having some suggested motivations, suggested background history,something like that on the back side of the cards, but I have other sources to help me with that kind of thing, and they really don't have the space to do it on these cards, so I am happy to pick up the slack. Great product, I think anyone can buy this and make great use of it in their games.
A great set of cards! Quality cardstock with a nice feel to each card. A few faces from the NPC guide and Kingmaker that will come in handy. I was pleasantly suprised to find some PFS Venture Captins in the mix as well. These cards will see a lot of use.
