Chapter 4 "Beyond the Doomsday Door"
by Tito Leati

The hunt for the seven shards of the Shattered Star leads the heroes back to the western coast of Varisia, to the multifaith monastery known as Windsong Abbey. The next shard appears to be hidden somewhere within the dungeons below the abbey. But when the PCs arrive, they find the monastery in ruins and held by savage giants and twisted fey! An ancient terror has returned home, and now dwells within the levels beneath the monastery—a terror who hopes to open the dread doomsday door within!

This volume of Pathfinder Adventure Path continues the Shattered Star Adventure Path and includes:

  • “Beyond the Doomsday Door,” a Pathfinder RPG adventure for 10th-level characters, by Tito Leati.
  • Delve into the horrors of the Abyssal monstrosities known as qlippoth, by James Jacobs.
  • Learn about the faith of Groetus, God of the End Times, and the madness of his tortured clergy, by Sean K Reynolds.
  • The perils of being a junkie in Riddleport in the Pathfinder’s Journal, by Bill Ward.
  • Five new monsters, by James Jacobs, Sean K Reynolds, F. Wesley Schneider, and Jerome Virnich.

Each monthly full-color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in-depth adventure scenario, stats for several new monsters, and support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes use the Open Game License and work with both the Pathfinder RPG and the world’s oldest fantasy RPG.

I like that were getting an article on Qlippoths but are there any new types of them in the book?

Should this ones cover not be updated soon if it is supposed to be out for November?

There are...

Spoiler:
...stats for 2 new qlippoth, one of which is a unique qlippoth lord.

I am totally digging this AP

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Companion, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

nice artwork(as usual), those tentacles have spines, also I must have that sword.

Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Suddenly reminded of a certain havero...

Oh man, that encounter.

Really, really like the look of that character whose name I'm sure I'll misspell without checking the books.

Cool, cool cover good work!

I really hope its an really nasty version of the Dust Digger.

BTW

savage giants and twisted fey

Wait wait does this mean Giant + fey = fomorians or firbolgs?

Pathfinder Card Game Subscriber

Oh great, a tentacle monster. My party is going to have a field day with this one.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Companion, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Well at least this will have five new monsters and we get to fight twisted fey and giants at the same time, or at least in the same place.

Yes I too would love to have that Sword. What is it? Is it an item introduced in this adventure? or is it something out of the CR,ARG,or UE books?

When a sword glows you know its powerful.

nope. It's something far, far worse than a dust digger could EVER be.

That sword is indeed an item in the adventure. It's wielded by the character on the cover, in fact.

Well if its Havaro (i'm not really fond of havaro) i'd rather see a very powerfull Dust Digger, if its something completly new i'm game!

Dust Diggers are pretty cool tho, they are based on the starwars creatures that resemble ant lions.

Paizo Employee Creative Director

It's not the havaro. The havaro isn't one of my favorite monsters.

It is, in fact, a monster whose stats appear in this volume, but who your characters really shouldn't want to fight...

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Companion, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Well I hope the sword is a unique item, maybe not an artifact or intellagent weapon, but something interesting non the less. Maybe it's a sword of sharpness for that tentacled horror.

yes, three of them are doomed for tentacle hell(heaven?). However Harsk has his axe out and will chop up any tentacle that tries to get frisky.

Mayhaps it is the previosly mentioned

:
brand new qlippoth lord

Cool I love tentacle monsters! BTW I Really enjoy the covers of AP where monsters from the bestiary appear on, can't this be on every cover? I also really adored the Rokurokubi cover, my favorite cover for an AP by far!

With great difficulty.

I think Qlippoth Lord can be any powerful and unique Qlippoth with a CR of 21 or higher. The 21-25 range is certainly within the capabilities of a high level party to encounter without mythic rules.

Dragon78 wrote:

It's not anything crazy special... the character in question is an NPC that you actually encountered in the very first scene of the AP, and she plays a bigger role in this part of the adventure. When we ordered art from her from Wayne, we asked for "a sword and an aklys" more or less. The fact that the sword looks cool is because Wayne's good at making things cool. As a result... this NPC does have a magic sword that's a bit more powerful and more expensive than an NPC of that level should have... but it's not a specific new magic item or intelligent weapon or anything like that.

Paizo Employee Creative Director

A qlippoth lord can be CR 25 or lower, and as such doesn't need mythic rules.

Care to give us any idea on what to expect from the article on groteus?

Speaking as a fan.. I would delight in a little JJ teaser on this too.

Groteus has always been pretty mysterious in a scary cool way. I'm looking forward to this one.

A lot more doom and gloom than normal, for one!

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Companion, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I can't wait to read more about qlippoths.

Qadira

Nice cover, though I can't help thinking of the rather nasty spell Evan's Spiked Tentacles of Forced Intrusion from Order of the Stick when I look at that tentacle monster in the background.

Well here's hoping for a teaser or something to wet the appetite, I have a Groteus cleric in PFS that I want to buff out some more with interesting material.

The store blogs always give a little more info but I don't remember them ever having a preview for an AP on the Paizo blog.

Osirion

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

They generally don't Preview APs. Probably because the nature of the book is that only GMs will read it generally.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Companion, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Also APs sell well so they more then likely have no need to preview something that tends to do well.

Paizo Employee Creative Director

There's generally a lot of spoilers in an Adventure Path, so that's one reason we don't do previews.

Furthermore, unless we start doing multiple blog posts a day, there's just not a lot of open spots to do previews for every thing we do.

It looks like a brilliant energy sword. Wayne Reynolds are is so good it's sick-making!

no, brilliant energy swords have their blades made of pure energy like a lightsaber, this looks more like a bastard sword version of Sting. (the dagger, not the band.)

Has anyone already got it?

If yes, how´re the Qlippoth and Groetus articles? And what about the new monsters?

Thanks!

Lol. This doesn't excite me, must the end always be so gloomy?

If you have it, please share with the rest of the class what that sword is. I'm dying to know!

Hey, just because Groetus *thinks* he knows how it's going to end doesn't mean he's right! ;)

Was sold when I saw the summons list and some of the worshipping options, it really does make me that much more excited to play Akram and get him to divine scion.

I am so sad my shipping notice hasn't shown up yet.

Any cool new info in the Qlippoth article to share? Which Qlippoth lord is featured?
And what about the new monsters?

Thanks in advance.
