From the ashes of Thassilon, an ancient power rises!
The friends, fiends, and foes of the Pathfinder Adventure Path: Shattered Star invade your gaming table with Pathfinder Battles: Shattered Star, the brand new Pathfinder Battles prepainted miniatures set from Paizo Publishing and WizKids Games!
This stunning set features 55 all-new prepainted sculpts drawn from the gorgeous art in Paizo Publishing's Pathfinder Adventure Path: Shattered Star.
Shattered Star Standard Boosters contain 1 Large figure and 3 Medium or Small figures
Shattered Star Standard Bricks contain 8 Standard Boosters (32 figures total)
Shattered Star Standard Cases contain 4 Standard Bricks (32 Standard Boosters, 128 figures total)
Purchasers should get no to very few duplicate figures in a brick. Buyers who purchase factory-sealed cases should get a nearly complete set of figures. (As with any randomized product, collation is not guaranteed.)
Any word on the completion rate they're aiming for? We're they happy with what they achieved with RotRL?
It seemed pretty good to me from the case reports (although it also seemed worse than the 93ish% they were aiming for).
Its 3 less figures, s/m/l figures, and a case is the same number of figures, and thus the same price.

glad to see a smaller set...runelords was very expensive on the pocketbook.
Ummm... a case is the exact same cost as runelords, its just:
1) no huges (you could get those cheaper as singles than in the packs anyway)
2)you get 3 less S/M/L in your 128 minis, so less sculpts for he same price. Runelords was $7.01 per sculpt S/M/L, Shattered star is 7.41 per S/M/L sculpt
3) the cost to get a blue dragon is the same as the cost for a rune giant, exactly the same... you just get less sculpts (same number of figures for the same price, just less difference in the figures looks)

I was referring to the chance to receive a full set in any given case.
The goal with RotRL was that around 93% of cases would contain at least one of every sculpt and that those which didn't should only be missing one or two figures. The case reports thread is a little worse than that, I think but the sample size is a little unsatisfactory. I wondered if they were happy with what they achieved and whether they'll be shooting for a similar arrangement?

This is great stuff. It would have been better for me if it was released in early December late November; and this would be true for Wizkids too. But I will look forward to it anyway.

It's 6 less sculpts in the S/M/L range - it's 54 S/M/L & the Dragon for a total of 55, compared to 60 S/M/L, 4 Huge & the Rune Giant.
Also, it's cheaper on the subscription as you don't have to get a huge case, and on completionists as you don't have to buy the huges.

With the Goblinworks Kickstarter ending in January and the fact that we haven't had a Friday Minatures preview since before Thanksgiving . . . is this set still scheduled for release in January?

And it looks like no preview today :( These crazy businesses that do so much for us, why can't they work 26 hours a day, 8 days a week to satisfy my roleplay needs? :)
Am I correct that there also wasn't a preview last week? Or the week before? (Okay, so maybe that was Thanksgiving, but still). I'm really anxious to see some more.
C'mon, guys. I know it is hard to come up with something witty to say about every mini, but we don't really care what you say anyway. ;-)
No commentary is needed. Just make with the photos already! Or, tell us they're done and go ahead and take my money. . .

I hope so :( but I guess it would make sense for them to push it back a month.

I'm hoping they make it up to us by giving us a 'super' blog post of 5 or 6 minis :)

There are only about 6 or maybe 7 that we have not seen so far. I understand why they can take a break from the blogs. It is only a few more reveals and we have seen them all. And four of those are air and earth elementals. There are only two or possibly three that we have not seen or heard about.
Its just been a while since we heard from Eric, is all. And since I haven't seen the subscription show up in my January or February order yet, I was curious if the product was going to be delayed.
It helps me plan on how many tauntaun pelts I need to sell and when. ;-)
From my count we have seen 32 of the 55 minis in this set. That leaves a lot to be revealed.
I agree. As much as I love Paizo and all the awesome things they're doing, I'm not as excited about this set as I was the last two.
Granted, I love Rise of the Runelords, so anything supporting that is awesome in my book. But the RotRL set and the initial Heroes and Monsters set had more minis that (for me) will get more use at my gaming table. A lot of these seem too obscure or weird to inspire their appearance in my games. Some of them make me think of Eberron, and that isn't a good thing. I liked the first two sets (and got a case of each) because they had a bunch of classics or monsters that *ought* to be classics. I'm 40 years old and I like my minis to evoke that old school feel. That being said, I know they have to try to make everybody happy and I don't blame them for going a different direction this time. (I'm still not crazy about the Alchemical Golem, though, or the Blue Dragon with all the bling. It makes him look cheap. :-) )
After the Rise of the Runelords minis, though, my main concern is how fragile some of them were. I had a number of them break just trying to (carefully) remove them from the packaging or in handling them normally. I had a Goblin Commando on Dog whose head came off, Ameiko lost her hand, Seelah the Iconic Paladin (from Heroes & Monsters) lost her shield (or maybe didn't ship with one), Azaven lost his staff, and Lamatar Bayden lost. . .his hand, I think.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still ordering a case of Shattered Star minis. I'm not an idiot. :-) But I do have some concerns.
I think they have said a few times that they weren't happy with the broken minis in Runelords. I think it will be an improving process. I had a forgefiend fall of the base, Seelah lose the shield and an Ameiko lose an arm. Overall the minis are fantastic.
I think the utility of this set is pretty high.
The wyvern
The elementals
The undead (especially the skeletal champion and mummy cleric, I love these two)
The gray maidens could be useful
I think the nightgaunt could be versatile.
Lots of potential PC miniatures (Also potential NPC)
I've run a lot of Iron Golems lately, so I probably won't run many in the future, but it will be nice to finally have a mini for it.
I'm trying to place what I would use the Gug for, probably just large aberrations or something. Maybe just run the Gug to use the mini XD.
Also, I finally have a Caryatid Column. I want enough of these to decorate every column of every room I draw. Run 6 months of adventures without them springing to life, then drop the axe.

Ah, I did not count. I was going off the unofficial site and he only had a few blank spaces left. I thought he had a spot for every mini and filled them in as they were revealed. My Bad...

i thought that at first until I realized he was just adding blank spots for minis spoke about but not shown.
As for the set, I am looking forward to the set. I like quite a few of them shown.
At this point I'm just confused. Am I mistaken that they said they would give us new blog posts every Friday with pics of some of the new minis? Did they actually say that? If not, then I have only myself to blame for my confusion. On the other hand, if that was what they were planning but have changed their minds, perhaps a blog post to let us know would be in order? Or have they already done that?
The long and the short of it is: do I need to stop expecting new blog posts to reveal upcoming minis? I can manage that. It is something to which I look forward every week, but I can adapt if there's a clear answer. I don't hande ambiguity very well.
I'll admit to being disappointed that the rate of mini reveals has slowed significantly lately.
However, I chalk it up to the holiday season. Everybody needs to take a break during this time of the year, even Paizo.

We have all the miniatures that we ordered sitting in the Paizo warehouse right now. We are just waiting for WizKids to tell us what the release date is. But the product is HERE, so the only delay is when WizKids declares the release date for the minis.

I think at this point you can comfortably plan to not get a regular Friday miniatures blog. As much as Erik wants to make the blogs, it seems that something always gets in the way of doing the blog. If we (Paizo) want a miniatures blog each Friday, somebody other than Erik needs to be tasked with doing it, because Erik is just too busy. I will talk with Erik when he is back from his holiday trip home and see if we can come up with a new plan for the new year.
Sorry about the irregularities of the minis blog. I don't think we ever promised it every Friday, but Erik was so good about doing it every Friday that I think the expectations grew. I know there isn't a blog in the works for this Friday, so nothing will get done until the new year. Again, sorry about that.

Huh. I've been thinking of this for at least two or three months as a January release (which I suppose it still is.) Had no idea WizKids hadn't set a date weeks ago.
Since the Friday blogs won't be happening regularly a set list would be nice to have so we know what we are ordering. I know it spoils the mystery but we are (hopefully) only a few weeks from release now anyway.

Let me talk to Erik when we are back in the office next week and we will come up with a plan.

+1 for this. Getting just a list would be great, even if we have to wait for unpackaging to see what all the sculpts look like.

Unfortutunate, but not entirely unexpected. It's a shame because the slow spoilers really add to the hype and excitement for the minis. I hope you can find some one to do mini blogs other than Erik. The line is only improving and looks like a long term success - but it needs that showing off.
Thanks for the updates and the insight. As a fan I realize that you and your staff have tried real hard to give us as much as you can. I look forward to the release.

I was down from Lisa's comments on the future of the Friday Minis Blog.
Then I clicked on the Paizo Blog and saw new minis today(night). Apparently the secret for Eric to be able to post a blog is for everyone to be on vacation but Eric.
