Got this for Christmas from one of my players/brother. Several of these are uninteresting as items. We had hoped that the cards would have their information on the back, and certainly not blank.
One of my players bought these for our RoW campaign and the whole table let out a collective sigh of disappointment when we got a look at them. Let me just say this - what is the point!? They are just cards with pretty pictures on them! You have to fill in all the info yourself in an area that is pretty small for handwriting. I had hoped they would have ALL the items in the AP stat-blocked out and easily referenced so that I wouldn't have to keep returning to the books. Including SOME blanks would have been nice, but having to fill out the WHOLE deck seems really lame. I'll just write the info on my character sheet before I use these cards. A total waste! Very disappointed Paizo. Sorry guys, but this reeks of WotC and their money-grubbing antics! Give me content over pretty pictures or nothing at all.
70% useful for a regular D&D game. A lot of firearms and WWI type items. If you play the pathfinder game you'd like them.
My thing with this set is the simplicity of the art again. To make an item unique you need unique art. These are very dull and generic art cards.
I'm wanting on the last three sets of these cards to come and I will have all the Game Mastery cards. With the exception of the boosters set. And I hope the art improves. I'm not an artist so I'm not knocking the artist just the amount of time spent on them.
It's actually in keeping with the insanity of previous depictions of Baba Yaga's Hut in gaming. No rooms turning the PCs into 600-foot tall kaiju or doors opening into the door opener's own intestines thus far, though.
As usual... I ask folks who are hesitant about something we're doing to wait and see and check the product out when it comes out. We've been doing Adventure Paths for over five years now, though... and as such I think it's about time that we did one that starts getting REALLY experimental and unusual.

Well colour me interested, this stuff makes this AP more interesting to me.

I'm very much for an experimental off the wall AP with Reign of Winter.
Especially since the AP after that is about as cliched as it gets (not that it's a wrong thing, "heroes bash demons for half a year" needs to happen every now and then).

Really? I would have thought the fact The next Ap uses an entirly new rules subsystem was as experimental as it got
Vic for future card sets would it be possible not to make them look like cards from a deck of bicyle playuing cards. put them on old school cardstock 65lb natural or an antique parchment like color.
Could you use the artists that did the NPC codex the art form that book is just great. Some of the card sets that are out just don't have real good artwork IMO compared to the art work form the Beastiaries or the NPC codex
We're not going to change the design of the cards; too many people have too much invested in them to start making new ones that don't match the old ones.
We draw Face Card images from lots of places; I'm confident that many artists used in the NPC codex have already had their art appear as Face Cards.
I have to say that these Item Cards are really lame. The RoW deck is the first purchased at my table and the fact that they are just pictures with "fill in the blank" spots was a HUGE let down. Why not have all the unique items found in the AP stat-blocked on the cards, and THEN add some blanks to the deck?

Because not everybody that uses them uses them in a Pathfinder Roleplaying Game or in the Adventure Path that they're associated with. Also, the text would have to be amazingly small to the point of illegibility.
