Oh, I'd love to explain myself, Rysky.
The DC films haven't exactly been great when it comes to emotionally investing people in their heroes actually saving the world is all. Wonder Woman and the amazons are currently the only characters whose deaths would actually move me emotionally. I don't actually want them to die but if the directors wanted to make me give a damn about Steppenwolf as a threat or villian the amazons deaths and the impact that would have on Diana would do it. It's cliched film writing and fridging but that's what happens when your cinematic universe only has one good film and decent character. Then again, it's possible that the Justice League film might do something great and make me care that Steppenwolf is killing random nameless civilians and doing nefarious things without a bunch of amazons being fridged. Here's to hoping.
OK, I'm going to spoil the ending of the movie for you right here:
And the Amazons will still have died pointlessly, like chumps.
If they want to make me and the audience care, they need to earn it with more than another over-the-top CGI slugfest that we'll barely be able to see because it's too damn dark. Maybe instead, do something like have Ryan Reynolds back as Hal Jordan. Really. No, really. I'm serious. OK, if Ryan won't come back, let Nathan Fillian or someone else play Hal. Doesn't have to be an A-lister, but A Name the audience accepts as a star...
Have Hal helping out, quipping it up, throwing down with the team in the big slugfest... and Steppenwolf kills him brutally. Like when he's saving a busload of kids, or ring-shielding a stadium of people... something heroic, make it mean something. Or hell, let Hal just make a small f*ck up as humans do, and Steppenwolf is there the exploit it because he has the experience to seize the opportunity. Make Supes' inevitable return bittersweet and drive it home that not everyone is an invulnerable Kryptonian.
And then at the end, in the mid-credits or end-credits stinger, Hal's ring flies off searching for the new Green Lantern of Sector 2814... Whedon gets to kill someone, Reynolds gets to close out Hal's arc, the movie demonstrates that there are consequences, and hey, it gets to set up the next GL.
There. It ain't perfect, but that's what I came up with just off the top of my head. A Hollywood writer should be able to do better.

To be honest I'd probably cheer if Ryan Reynold's Hal Jordan showed up only to die. Now if Deadpool showed up...
In all seriousness though, the fundamental problem of this Justice League film and why those amazons are going to be frigded for stupid reasons is because DC films haven't built up their characters and their universe enough to warrant us caring about anyone else.
I mean, for crissake you're probably completely right that Superman is going to come back in exactly the way you describe, but I sure as hell won't care about it because this universe's Superman is whiny emo who doesn't deserve the absurd amount of Jesus imagery he keeps getting. Compare that to Agent Coulson, a minor character at best, death and later resurrection in the Marvel universe. That character was likable from the very beginning and was given bits of screentime in other Marvel films where we got to know him better and enjoy his presence. That's why when he dies in Avengers 1 we actually care as much as the heroes do about his passing. Hal Jordan showing up and dying could have worked if his film wasn't crap, Superman coming back from the dead to save everyone could be really impactful if his films were great and his death in Batman v Superman wasn't so stupid. But because so many of these films have been bad the studio probably thought that connecting things to one good film they did have should be a priority in the reshoots.
Ugh. I feel like am ranting now. Honestly, I just wish that this Justice League movie was put off for awhile so we got could a good Superman film and good Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg and Batman films. That's probably asking a lot but I feel if they just did that the amazons wouldn't be getting sacrificed for the sake of audience investment. That's probably crazy logic but I can't help but think this film is depending on the sucess of Wonder Woman to pull people in.

But she's a Swede, so that ruins the joke. :)
On the other hand, Swedes playing Russian characters is a Hollywood tradition going all the way back to Greta Garbo.
Swedes playing Chinese characters thankfully stopped at one as far as I know, though.

Look people, I'm trying to get Ryan Reynold's Green Lantern killed on screen, and give DC a reason to move on to John Stewart instead of just another reboot with Hal. Work with me here.
Freehold, it won't totally salve your hate, but you might want to watch Life as a rental. It's disappointing and dumb in spots, but I think you'll like Reynolds in it.

Why not have Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner as an assemble in the Green Lantern Corps film? If Marvel could do it with Guardians of the Galaxy than why not DC?

Ryan Reynolds Deadpool is awesome. I said it. I refuse to take it back.
I loathe Deadpool like I loathe pretty much all Liefield creations, and I much prefer Marvel's movies to anything put out by Fox, Sony or DC.
And yet, if I were stuck with one superhero movie to watch until the end of time, it would be Deadpool, which is hilarious. Wrong. Juvenile. Possibly unhealthy. But hilarious.
And yeah, Ryan Reynolds showing up to die in Justice League, to serve as an introduction for John Stewart, could be cool, 'cause I like John Stewart.
[warning, heavy sarcasm/cynicism]
Seriously though, with this notion of the Amazons getting fridged to buff the street cred of Steppenwolf, who, frankly, I barely even know the name of (couldn't it be someone Kirby-cool, like Kalibak?), I'm not sure if I'm even going to see this in the theaters anyway. Signs say no, but I'm fickle and might change my mind come November.
Themyscira has been the one bright spot in an otherwise bleak DCU, and the lesson of Wonder Woman's success shouldn't be 'ooh, they finally like something we've created, let's wreck it!'
This feels exactly like Joss, at his worst. He loves to break his toys, and pick the shiniest thing to destroy. Even better, for him, when it's not even one of *his* toys, but something that somebody else labored to make beautiful.

I dunno. Civil War had not one, not two, but THREE Black superheroes who got to do cool things and be part of the Avengers. Guardians of the Galaxy also has three people of color, though they're all aliens and wearing makeup so I'm not sure they count. Oh, and of course, Black Widow and Scarlet Witch are Avengers as well and Captain Marvel and the Wasp are going to get their own films soon.
So, yeah, I'm not sure the "we got one black guy, so shut up" rule of Hollywood still implies to superhero films. I mean, to DC's credit Aquaman is being played by a native Hawaiian, so that's something. Suicide Squad also has a diverse cast but given that film was terrible garage and filled with laughably offensive stereotypes it doesn't get any credit in my opinion and should just be forgetten. FOREVER.

He seems to be enjoying acting. It's a night-and-day difference from how they make him act as Supes.
That's cool, especially since Armie Hammer is strongly rumored to be a contender for either the next Bat Man (after Ben is done) or Green Lantern. Good to see he and Cavill have good chemistry!

Well, yeah, a dozen movies into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Iron Man 1-3, Cap 1-2, Thor 1-2, Avengers 1-2, Guardians 1, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange), in a movie that brings in *everybody* (and introduces some new characters), I'd expect everybody's black sidekicks to show up as well. (Well, except Heimdall, I guess, but Thor wasn't invited.)
DC's only three movies in, and they've raised the bar by having a woman-led movie (Wonder Woman), which Marvel is still 'planning to do, someday, really'..., so my cynicism might not be warranted.
Time will tell.
In any event, I'm no longer looking forward to Justice League as much as I was. The color and life in that first third of Wonder Woman, set on the island that I don't want to spell, was breathtaking and full of hope, and it feels like DC wants to take that away and make it as ugly and colorless as the rest of their cinematic universe. Fie on them.
Suicide Squad also has a diverse cast but given that film was terrible garage and filled with laughably offensive stereotypes it doesn't get any credit in my opinion and should just be forgetten. FOREVER.

Oh, I'm a fan of his early work on Buffy, and the first Avengers movie, but he's got some issues. He gets bored and wrecks stuff, when he's got a shiny new focus of attention, such as Buffy, when his heart has moved on to Angel, or Angel, when his heart has moved on to Firefly. Had Firefly not been prematurely canceled, he'd likely have moved on to his next cool idea, and dropped a few grenades on his way out the door there, too. He also gets wrapped in labels, and happily embraces them, even if they don't exactly fit. Buffy was hardly 'feminist,' and he's just as quick to throw out terms like 'whore' (or make one of his Firefly crew members a 'space hooker'), or giggle like a schoolchild that he got a bunch of Chinese curse-words past the censors, or snuck a British slang word for vagina into the Avengers.

Armie Hammer is quite charming and funny in Free Fire, if you haven't seen it. Just enough plot to kick off the action, and the ensemble set up prevents Hammer, Brie Larson (yay!), and Cillian Murphy from getting enough screen time, but it's a fun rental if you like shoot-outs and criminal f!ck-ups. Sharlto Copley is almost too good at playing an annoying wannabe in over his head.

Not that I think this movie is going to be any good, but how would you judge a movie to be unwatchable while it's still in the midst of post-production?
Also, I'm leery anytime somebody quotes only a single word to prove a point. The link talking about it being "unwatchable" goes to another story that provides that world completely out of context and with no other supporting evidence.

Because people have seen it, seen the script, knew how it looked like. And i am sure that "unwatchable" had nothing to do with special effects.

Isn't possible that bashing Snyder is popular because he's kind of a hack when it comes to writing and narrative themes, and not because of groupthink and bandwagoning? It's probably a bit of both sure, but I really don't like the hate of Snyder is without merit.

I'm not gonna claim that it was super-deep, but the theatrical version did cut out all of the scenes that gave Sucker Punch any meaning at all. The extended version is actually a fairly decent movie. Although the main attraction does remain crazy action sequences, steampunk Nazi zombies, samurai giants, and a quintet of scantily-clad babes. I'm also rather a fan of the cover of "Sweet Dreams" that opens the film...I think it's the best version of the song I've ever heard. (Sorry Eurythmics fans...not sorry, Marilyn Manson fans.)

Unfortunately, it is also untrue. The extended cut also sucks. It is still not even a mediocre film. It still says myriad crappy things about women and exposes Snyder's deep issues with women. True, it does suck slightly differently, and it sucks for a longer running time, but it still doth suckith mightily.

Suckerpunch is the ultimate audition reel to get a gigs directing superhero movies. And it worked. A series of spectacular action pieces that take dynamic superhero style combat to a whole new level, but otherwise lacking in coherent connecting tissue.
That and it's misogynist as all hell while pretending to be empowering.
