Print version is glorious, PDF version not so much

****( )

I own both the print version of the folio and recently got the PDF version in the Humble Bundle.

The printed version is fantastic, but be sure that you have the right expectations! This is not your super-efficient condensed sheet to have ready in a fast-paced action-packed game.

This booklet, in time, will become the chronicle of your PC. It will record their successes and failures and accompany them throughout their entire adventuring career until it is time to retire. Years later, you will pull the Folio from your gaming shelf, browse through the pages and smile at the memories of an amazing campaign its contents conjure.

So yes, some of the mechanical information is a bit all over the place. But the Folio more than makes up for it with all the little details that are usually cut for space.

If you like details, keeping statistics, and being thorough, this Folio is the best you can get for your character in print. Five stars!

The PDF version, however, is a different beast. Maybe I am using the wrong (Acrobat) reader or it's some sort of security thing but for whatever reason you cannot fill out any boxes of the PDF. So all the PDF is really good for is printing copies of it. If you do that, however, you miss out on the production values of the print edition and if you take those away, I think there are better options out there. This brings the rating of the PDF down to three stars.

So because we have to give both versions a single rating, I give it the average of both: 4 stars.

Couple of quirks...

**( )( )( )

I typically refuse to write out Pathfinder character sheets because there is too much hidden math to keep track of during character creation and leveling up. The folio is a huge improvement towards making a character easy to edit as well as read. At the price, I hesitate to buy a folio for every character, but there are definitely niches where having a folio is very useful.

However, I did bump into a couple of significant (imo) quirks:

* The pouches aren't quite big enough to hold 8.5"x11" paper. Probably need to take 1/8" off the left and right sides in order to get them to fit. Unless you have a paper cutter, good luck keeping a log of what's happened.

* The "Spellbook" page barely holds enough spells for a stock sorcerer with no bonus spells. If the pouches were actually big enough, I'd just create more spellbook pages and stuff them in the pouch.

* I did not feel like I could really use either of the Animal Companion or Familiar/Follower/Mount sections for logging a sorcerer's familiar.

EDIT: I docked a star because these quirks are really getting to me. Fun fact, a custom-printed cover for this would be $30 from Kinko's.

great Player Character folio for a long in-depth played frequently character

his is a great Player Character folio for a long in depth played frequently character. And since you can make copies for your other PC's it's not so bad price wise either.

Yes of course the basic Character sheets can be found and downloaded easily. But these will help you put more roleplaying depth into your character.

And as a side bonus, by having it you can get one free re-roll in a Pathfinder Society game, per night.

absurd waste of money

*( )( )( )( )

An absurd waste of money with very little value for multiple characters. Only good if you want the reroll in PFS play. Ps this should not give you a reroll in pfs play. Should have more than one use.

Overly Complicated and PDF = No Reroll PFS

*( )( )( )( )

This is character sheet stretched over 14 pages. It seems they just padded a free resource with enough superfluous pages to justify selling it.

The electronic copy with your name and paizo's mark on it doesn't qualify for a PFS reroll. Their reasoning being that they believe the colorful, shiny cover is what makes people buy the product. I've never met anyone who has actually used this as intended.
