In the sleepy coastal town of Sandpoint, evil is brewing. An attack by crazed goblins reveals
the shadows of a forgotten past returning to threaten the town—and perhaps all of Varisia.
The Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path begins with this goblin raid and takes players on
an epic journey through the land of Varisia as they track a cult of serial killers, fight
backwoods ogres, stop an advancing army of stone giants, delve into
ancient dungeons, and finally face off against a wizard-king in his
ancient mountaintop city. This hardcover compilation updates
the fan-favorite campaign to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game
rules with revised and new content in more than 400 pages
packed with mayhem, excitement, and adventure!
Celebrating both the fifth anniversary of the Pathfinder
Adventure Path and the tenth anniversary of Paizo Publishing, this new
edition expands the original campaign with new options and
refined encounters throughout, incorporating 5 years of
community feedback.

FAQ:
Q: Will you be doing hardcover compilations of all of your Adventure Paths? A: No. This is a special celebration of our very first Adventure Path on its 5th Anniversary. Several of the original volumes of Rise of the Runelords have been unavailable in print for a long time, yet it remains one of our most popular adventure paths; that circumstance presents a unique opportunity for us to expand and update it for use with the Pathfinder RPG, and to apply lessons we've learned about making Adventure Paths over the last half-decade. Our other adventure paths are largely still in print, and many of them were designed for use with the Pathfinder RPG to begin with; we have no plans to recompile them.
Q: Is there anything missing from the original AP volumes? A: Yes—otherwise, this book would be more than 600 pages long! Some of the monsters and other things created for Rise of the Runelords are now part of the official Pathfinder RPG rules, so they're not reprinted here. The original volumes also included monster ecologies, bestiary entries, and other campaign setting material that isn't directly used in the adventure itself; those items are also not present in this collection. The Pathfinder Journal fiction featuring Eando Kline is not presented here either, but it has been compiled—along with the installments from the subsequent two Adventure Paths—as The Compass Stone, now available in ePub form. We have also replaced some of the artwork from the previous edition, and replaced the six individual introductions with one new one.
Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition is sanctioned for use in Pathfinder Society Organized Play. The rules and Chronicle sheets for running this Adventure Path are available as a free download (438 KB zip/PDF).

I got my shipping email today. Then, about an hour later, I got a call from my VC to let me know that he was able to pick up a second copy for me at PaizoCon and get it signed by the collected authors!
Hmmmm, I'm a little worried now. On my bank statement their was the pending charge of my subscription order there since last Friday. I ordered three more books and added them to my next subscription this weekend and I'm know noticing that that order is now pending but mt original order no longer is(and hasn't gone through either). Did my order some how get canceled? I'm confused.
EDIT: It's still in my pending orders so maybe I'm over freaking out.
It's a small detail, but I love how they marked stairs as going up or down with colors. I kept running my players through Escher-like dungeons because I would get confused reading the maps.

That was something that Vic requested when he was helping edit the book. I think it is a brilliant idea, so I backed his request.
Is it wrong that every day I get home from work, check the mailbox and shake my fist in the general direction of the post office and spew curses that would make a dwarf blush? (And it has only been two days since I’ve gotten my ship email!)
Been paging through my pdf for a while now have to say I really like the layout particularly the new up/down direction arrows on the map, the stat block header now including hp, and the much more prominent location ID call outs.
Is this a sign of things to come in the APs or is it just a one shot thing with the anniversary edition?
Holy sh*t! I finally had a chance to glance at the PDF, the design and look is fricking amazing. The new illustrations are blowing me away. Case in point the sort of side view of Sandpoint is totally awesome. You immediately get the feel of Sandpoint. Just awesome.
I like that the festering maze is fleshed out, but what's the reason doe changing the ravenous crypts? Too much empty space?
Yeah... of all the wings of Runeforge, that wing was overly complex and full of empty rooms. Further, the rooms and halls themselves were all weirdly shaped and aligned, which made it kind of awkward and annoying to map out on a battlemat or to use with minis.
By revising the map and making it so that it works better on the grid, AND by removing the extra empty rooms, I hoped to make that wing both easier to run and more interesting to play through.
Remember that the players don't know a room is empty and has nothing going on in it, and when you have a dungeon with, say, 30 rooms but only 10 of them have encounters, from a player's perspective, the dungeon feels sparse and boring and repetitive. That's not something a player should feel in a dungeon devoted to Thassilonian necromancy.
Still waiting on mine, but I'm not upset. With the chaos that was paizocon + all subscriptions being shipped + this huge release, I imagine the poor warehouse staff are run ragged.

It COULD be a sign of things to come in future Adventure Paths.
We're already 3 adventures in to Shattered Star, and we didn't want to make any major changes to the Adventure Path layout or look until we started hearing feedback from all the numerous changes in Rise of the Runelords... which just came out.
So... We'll be watching and listening closely to everyone's feedback on things like the stair arrows, the new look of the stat blocks, the big blocky encounter area tags on the map and in the text, and all the rest.
But the EARLIEST we'll be able to graduate the changes that folks end up really liking will be the Reign of Winter Adventure Path, which starts getting laid out in about 4 months, and won't be for sale until next February.
I like the new format the maps especially are much easier to use at a glance as things are just more clear on them. The arrows for stairs etc just make things easier.
Don't worry...it isn't just you. I think they're probably just hit hard by Paizocon and by what looks like it may be one of their better selling products.
Since you're looking for feedback :). I like the map adjustments, the new art is amazing, the new headers for the stat blocks don't bother me too much but I'm really used to the bestiary lay outs so I will probably still look in the stats and not at the header. The header may be something I adjust to I just feel they're unnecessary as is. I do not like the new item blocks. Feels too blocky and clunky, and it's reminiscent of the 4th edition books which I did not like the style of. It interrupts the flow of reading for me seeing block, text, block. I noticed it's the style for Ultimate Equipment and I'm just not a fan of that layout style.
I liked how the Core Rulebook looked different from 4th edition and I liked it's style, these new block layouts stray from the clean lines of the Core and are more in line with products I personally disliked.
How come something as basic as AC is not with the summary stat blocks?
Page 16-17, you have XP, HP, CR, weapon and damage for the basic goblins, but no AC listed? I know we can look it up in the beastary. But i would think something like AC would be something to include in a summary of stats.

Put mine down as a big vote for awesome on the layouts of this book! I think it's absolutely fantastic! The color-coding of the stairs, the headings, and the bolded sub-headings that really stick out from the text and make it easier to locate info faster are all phenomenal in my opinion. This book was exquisitely done. It's full of so muchWIN!

Because there's limited space in the summary stat blocks, and we chose to go as minimal as possible with them.
If you make a sample page available, you'll be able to collect feedback faster :)
As I'm not a subscriber I don't have this yet myself, but since I saw someone mention similarities to 4th edition layout above, I figured I could add my "+1" to his statement. I also disliked the layout chosen for the 4th edition rulebooks, but especially the layout used in 4th edition adventures. I found myself unable to read through any of the 4e adventures I've purchased, simply because of the layout. It simply didn't flow the way I was used to from Dungeon and Pathfinder.
So if the new layout breaks the flow, that would be a bad thing in my book. I won't comment further until I've seen it myself, since criticizing without seeing is also a bad thing :)
I haven't looked at their delves as I'm firmly against 4e (I do not begrudge those who play it just not my cup of tea). I was more referring to their Player's Handbook and how they had block headers all over the place for powers and magic items and how it all just looked clustered and clunky to me because of blocks every 5 lines.
For summary stat blocks, AC is much more useful than CR or XP. You can add up that stuff before or after the encounter; you need the ACrightnow when running it.

I like the new layout changes. I would like to see them carried forward. My only complaint is that this didn't come out until I was half way through Skinsaw Murders. ;)

The only reason the stat block even includes attack and damage is because they are being modified from the base monster block by inspire courage.
There is a huge amount of awesome in this but I am not a fan of the blocky look.
I also really dislike the top corner image: I understand why it might be felt necessary for navigating an adventure as large as this but I really don't want to see it again until the CotCT hardcover in 2022.

Try and combine shipping with your subscription order. That always makes the warehouse goblins ship mine before they can be combined, resulting in very nice e-mails back from Customer Services explaining why they can't do anything about it and double shipping costs.
I'm gonna read through it over the weekend, but one thing i definitely checked on was whether or not the minis would give you acceptable numbers of certain monsters. I can say, and I don't think it needs a spoiler, you no longer have to worry about 6 Rune Giants in one encounter. The minis should give you everything you need, combined with heroes and monsters set you'll have plenty of goblins :).

I love the layout. If you're counting votes then mine is firmly on the side of the new layout.
