In the sleepy coastal town of Sandpoint, evil is brewing. An attack by crazed goblins reveals
the shadows of a forgotten past returning to threaten the town—and perhaps all of Varisia.
The Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path begins with this goblin raid and takes players on
an epic journey through the land of Varisia as they track a cult of serial killers, fight
backwoods ogres, stop an advancing army of stone giants, delve into
ancient dungeons, and finally face off against a wizard-king in his
ancient mountaintop city. This hardcover compilation updates
the fan-favorite campaign to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game
rules with revised and new content in more than 400 pages
packed with mayhem, excitement, and adventure!
Celebrating both the fifth anniversary of the Pathfinder
Adventure Path and the tenth anniversary of Paizo Publishing, this new

FAQ:
Q: Will you be doing hardcover compilations of all of your Adventure Paths? A: No. This is a special celebration of our very first Adventure Path on its 5th Anniversary. Several of the original volumes of Rise of the Runelords have been unavailable in print for a long time, yet it remains one of our most popular adventure paths; that circumstance presents a unique opportunity for us to expand and update it for use with the Pathfinder RPG, and to apply lessons we've learned about making Adventure Paths over the last half-decade. Our other adventure paths are largely still in print, and many of them were designed for use with the Pathfinder RPG to begin with; we have no plans to recompile them.
Q: Is there anything missing from the original AP volumes? A: Yes—otherwise, this book would be more than 600 pages long! Some of the monsters and other things created for Rise of the Runelords are now part of the official Pathfinder RPG rules, so they're not reprinted here. The original volumes also included monster ecologies, bestiary entries, and other campaign setting material that isn't directly used in the adventure itself; those items are also not present in this collection. The Pathfinder Journal fiction featuring Eando Kline is not presented here either, but it has been compiled—along with the installments from the subsequent two Adventure Paths—as The Compass Stone, now available in ePub form. We have also replaced some of the artwork from the previous edition, and replaced the six individual introductions with one new one.
Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition is sanctioned for use in Pathfinder Society Organized Play. The rules and Chronicle sheets for running this Adventure Path are available as a free download (438 KB zip/PDF).

The 'free pdfs value' shown in my pending order (2090109) don't seem to include the pdf of this book. Is that a mistake or was I to late subscribing to the AP to qualify for the free pdf?
Also, as an interesting glitch, while I preordered the book several months ago, the product page says I ordered it today.
I just got my 'shipping sometime next week' e-mail for my subscription.
I haven't combined shipping with the RotRLAE because that is going to relatives in the US. Will I have a 'shipping next week' e-mail for this book as well? I've not pre-ordered before so don't know what to expect.

My guess would be since it isn't actually part of a subscription it doesn't count the PDF of this even though it is also an added bonus (mine did the same thing). Also every preorder/subscription product has a order date of the day the authorization goes through.

Ross is mistaken: the free PDF *is* restricted to preorders, as it says in the product description; new orders are considered preorders up until the July 18 release date.
To be crystal clear: if I order the physical book in the next week or so, I will also get the PDF?
(My AP subscription will not be going away any time soon.)
Bah, mine is still shown as pending, wondering whether that has to do with me adding another book to my preordered RotRL anniversary edition.
But hey! I got the email for the next two volumes of Skull&Shackles...
Ruyan.
It depends, did you have RotRL in the sidecart to ship with the AP volumes? Or did you not put it into the sidecart and combine RotRL with something that has a later shipping date? Or maybe it's a sign of the apocalypse and fate is going to be cruel to us and destroy the world before we have a chance to see it.
Yeah, I don't get it. I got the "get ready, your stuff is going to ship" email for my AP and Core Rules subscriptions, but nothing on this, and I preordered on May 11th.

Same here. All my subscription stuff is in one pending order, but my RotRL hardcoveris a separate pending order (and has been since last December). I got my "week or so" email for my subs last night, but I haven't gotten anything for the RotRL hardcover.

I'm having a similar issue. I ordered mine in october and it estimates shipment for october this year.

My concern is that the problem (whatever it is) won't get addressed until Monday after orders start shipping. CS is out for Paizocon so there's no one around to look into it.
I'm with Urath on this issue. I ordered it August 2011, "purchased" it and got my "Thank you for placing your order"-email and it's been sitting there ever since.

Or mine. However, given this is going to be a pretty huge book, if your order contains a few things and looking at the list of subscriptions after people's names it looks like they would, they might need to split the order in two and it makes most sense to have the RotR book as one item? Just a thought. I mean the ARG caused my last order to get split into two and this will be much bigger than that.

Dunno. I've never had a shipment that had to be split up before. I'm in Alabama, about as far from Paizo as you can get and still be in CONUS. If I create a new order will all my sub items plus the RotRL hardcover, the order confirmation window shows all those items as "Shipment # 1."
Yeah, for the record, I received my "shipping in a few days" e-mail a day ago, and my RotRAE is included. I don't know about the splitting shipments thing though. I've got eight books coming in this order all together (the AE, both AP adventures, a module, a map folio, and three CS books), and they're shipping all together according to the e-mail.
Honestly not sure why some have it and some don't. An interesting conundrum . . .
If I order it before the 18th but put it in to ship with my next regular Adventure Path order (assuming my July order gets shipped before the 18th, as I just got the email today), would my card not get charged until my August subscription ships?
I don't care about getting the PDF soon, but I really need the PDF if I'm going to run this AP. I don't want to buy the book just by itself.
If you do it quick enough, you might be able to get it added to the July shipments considering you still might have some time left. As far as your credit card goes, no, you will not get charged until it ships. Well, maybe a few days prior, not really sure how it works considering all of my charges are taken from my store account and it gets deducted when I get my notification email. Either way, it'll be close.

Yep... I'm not sure there is an issue at all, yet. At the moment, it is just odd that some are seeing it and some are not. If those who are seeing it are picking up at PaizoCon, that might be the difference, but there is not enough information to be sure.
At aa guess, since I combined my pre-order with other things, it looks like it was paid for at the time. So, it would not be part of the any new "authoriztion" transaction. It is sitting in "My Orders" as a separate order with a status of "Pending", like the new order for the regular subscription materials that i *did* just get the authorization email for. I expect it is just waiting to ship.

I'm pretty sure you had to select the "ship with my subscription" option manually - it wasnt the default.
In other words, I think that if you just preordered it, the system assumes you want it sent separately. My guess would be that those for whom it hasnt shown up in the "we're about to ship..." emails are people who preordered without actually selecting the 'combine this with my subscription' option.
I dont really know, of course, but I've been caught out with preorders shipping separately before and that was the reason in my case.

A good assessment there, Mr. Geddes. I, too, had to manually put mine in my side cart for this (well, actually, a Paizo CS employee did it, as this was before I knew what the side cart was) to ship with my subscription stuff. That could very well be the case!

I'll be highly disappointed if that's the reason. Especially seeing as how combining the RotRL hardcover with my subs will save me $10 on shipping.

That is the default way all extra buys are done not just this product. If you buy any physical copy the default is it ships asap, unless you select it to ship with your next shipment.

*Sigh* I guess I'll have to call CS on Monday and just hope this doesn't delay my order.
I would try sending them a email now. They may end up checking the emails over the weekend and if you don't get a response then call them early Monday to catch it before it ships.

So, those that picked it up at Paziocon, or have the PDF, how is it?
I have not looked it over in detail but with a casual glance I would say it is awesome.
And the PDF comes with interactive maps and a file with just the player handouts. Both are handy. I loved Runelords the first time I ran it and I am looking forward to running it again with one of my groups when I finish Carrion Crown. I plan to run Runelords and follow it with Shattered Star. I think that will be fun...
I would actually enjoy even more going from Runelords to Crimson Throne to Second Darkness and then Shattered Star but at the rate we go through an AP that would be 5 to 6 years of play and I already know I am itching to do Reign of Winter...
It is awesome. An absolutely beautiful book and it sounds like some of the extremely nice formatting changes may get picked up in Reign of Winter (it was too late for Shattered Star).
And setting it to ship with your subscriptions is the problem everyone is running into. I ran into the same thing with picking it up at Paizocon until Customer Service switched it for me. As someone already suggested, send a note or post with your order number in the Customer Service forum.
1. Fast advancement
2. It assumes 4 PCs. It will be very hard though it sounds like a couple of the completely brutal encounters have been toned down (a little)
3. Same time as the original, does not assume other APs have been run.

When I ran the original we had 6 PCs. I did nothing to change it and it was a very tough AP. I am not sure anyone died . It has been several years since we ran it. But I do know in every other AP we have run someone has died so maybe I just don't remember. Oh wait, I know someone died in the last encounter... But other than that not sure.
It was brutal and I am looking forward to running it with the changes and being rewritten for Pathfinder.
