Sometimes rules supplements read like the world-setting bible of frustrated novelists. While solid world- building is a useful skill, you don't always need four paragraphs of flavor text to tell you swords are cool, magic is power, shadows are scary, and orcs are savage. Sometimes a GM doesn't have time to slog through a page of history for every magic weapon. Sometimes all that's needed are a few cool ideas, with just enough information to use them in a game. Sometimes, all you need are bullet points.

Bullet Points are a line of very short, cheap PDFs each of which gives the bare bones of a set of related options. It may be five spells, six feats, eight magic weapon special abilities, or any other short set of related rules we can cram into about a page. Short and simple, these PDFs are for GMs and players who know how to integrate new ideas into their campaigns without any hand-holding, and just need fresh ideas and the rules to support them. No in-character fiction setting the game world. No charts and tables. No sidebars of explanations and optional rules. Just one sentence of explanation for the High Concept of the PDF, then bullet points.

The High Concept: Seven feats that allow spellcasters using the classic and venerable magic missile spell to have as many options as characters who use material weapons. This is the first in a series of products to celebrate the "Summer of Bullets" event!

The feats included are:

  • Arcane Missiles: You can add the magic effects of arrows or bolts in your possession to one magic missile of a volley.
  • Blinding Missiles: You can concentrate the energy of your magic missiles to make them bright enough to blind a foe.
  • Halo of Stars: You can keep your magic missiles around until you need them.
  • Imbued Force: You can layer your magic missiles onto a melee weapon, granting it limited ability to strike as a force effect.
  • Legendary Missiles [Metamagic]: You can make your magic missiles larger and more powerful.
  • Pressure Missiles: You can focus the energy of your magic missiles into fewer, harder-hitting missiles that strike and numb a foe’s pressure points.
  • Targeted Missiles: You can direct your magic missiles, rather than depend on their innate accuracy.

Uh oh, two pages of content in a Bullet Points? I fear someone at SGG has gone mad!

That might explain why Blinding Missiles and Pressure Missiles do the same thing in the preview!

EDIT: The fluff is the same in the PDF too.

Blinding Missile and pressure Missile both have a cut-and-paste error (three missiles is mentioned twice instead of going on to four missiles), and eyah, I failed to write a new 1-line description for Pressure, but the actual mechanics are different, as they are supposed to be. I'll get the minor errors fixed.

Ah, so...this release is why you've been asking around about the iconic spells. Very clever, Mr. Stephens. Very clever, indeed. I look forward to seeing what you do next!

I DO find asking for my patrons opinions, and then listening to them, often produces excellent results! :)

This was the just the one I was hoping you'd come nout with first! Now if I just had a way to buy it...

I do this a couple of times a year with my players, a sort of "How am I/we doing?" thing. I get a couple of good bits of feedback and suggestions, and the rest stare blankly at me while stuffing Skittles up their noses. God Bless them, everyone!

Many thanks to DungeonmasterCal for the review!

One of my players is using the rules in Ultimate Magic to write up some pretty cool higher level Magic Missle spells (one very similar to what Halo of Stars sounds like). I'm going to pick this up to read through. I have already notified him to see if he is interested.

$1.00 is an easy impulse buy.

Fortunately, (per a FAQ entry), you can do some magic with PayPal and get what is effectively a MasterCard here.

Having just read the PDF, I'd recommend doing so to pick it up, even with the couple of cut-and-paste typos mentioned.

Phew. I think I'm all caught up with the slew of review!

I was just re-reading some of these awesome goodies to decide which one(s) to give to a sorcerous adversary for this weekend's coming game. And it made me stop and think, "Hey....wouldn't a whole Genius Guide to Force Magic or The Force Mage" be so awesome I'd have to have a plushy made of it just so I could cuddle it in my sleep at night?"

Ok, that last part may be a bit extreme. But I'd cuddle it at least once a day.

review edited to reflect updated correction, Thanks Owen!

Creeeeeepy. :D

I'll add the idea to the hopper. Certainly my mage armor feats seem very force-focused in some cases...
