This book contains dozens of new monsters found in the Inner Sea region—all invented specifically for the Pathfinder campaign setting! Some, like the gearsmen of Numeria or the moth-like star monarchs who serve the goddess of dreams, have been mentioned many times in Pathfinder Campaign Setting books, but others, like the alien vespergaunt or Rahadoum’s desert-dwelling whirlmaws, have only been obliquely illustrated or mentioned before. And some—like the mysterious and ancient veiled masters, and the disturbingly alluring fungus queen—make their appearance for the first time in print after debuting in Paizo’s office campaigns.

The Inner Sea Bestiary explores some of Golarion’s most unique monsters. Inside this book you will find:

  • New monsters ranging in challenge rating from 1/3 (such as the mysterious syrinx) to 25 (the powerful infernal duke Lorthact).
  • Three new monstrous templates: the exotic mind-draining vetala vampire, the blighted fey of Fangwood, and the twisted mutants of the Mana Wastes.
  • Five new 0-Hit Die races ready for you to customize as villains—or playable as characters if that suits your particular game!
  • Beings both benevolent and destructive—48 in all—ready to challenge adventurers in any Pathfinder game!

The Inner Sea Bestiary is intended for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and the Pathfinder campaign setting, but can be used in any fantasy game setting.

I am also curious about the Gearsmen as well Sub-Creator and I also need to reread that section were they say there are indestructible because I do not remember that one.

Maybe we will get more info on this book during or shortly after Paizo con.

Is there any reason why we can't have both the male and female Lashunta in the same picture/page?

There's only room for one piece of art on a page, so two characters on one page isn't an option—we need room for the stats and flavor text, after all.

So when do you good folks at Paizo think the list of monsters and how you want them done will be finalized. So we can ask silly and/or anoying questions and actually get some interesting answers. Or at least an idea when this one will be ready to be shipped to the printers.

The monster list is pretty much done and finalized. We're not going to be revealing much more about that list until MUCH closer to the book's release later in the year... we're about 3 months or so away from that, if not more.

Will we find out anything more about this book during Gen Con?

Paizo Employee Developer

We're still three months out on this book, so what James said in the post just above you (last week) still stands despite GenCon being a month away.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Thanks for the info.

I hope we get some previews for this one, particularly art previews.

I'll just say that the list of monsters for this book delights me. Especially with information on the Gearsmen (Finally! Been waiting years for these guys) and the Mana Waste Mutants.

And "the disturbingly alluring Fungus Queen"? Do we want to know?

As long as we finally get the Lashunta as a core race and the numerian spider/scorpion Mecha with gatling guns and a particle beam cannon tipped tail I'll be on cloud nine!

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I, for one, would be perfectly content if this was the cover.

Or if the cover was very close to it.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Yeah it is a nice mock-up cover, can't wait to see the real one though.

I agree with you Berselius and you too Eric Hinkle.

K from what I heard from James at Gencon we will get androids too! I don't know how I will pay for Christmas presents this year paizo your line up is soo strong.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I subscribed to this line in large part due to the Numeria support this book will have.

From what I was told they will be something that can be played and built like normal races which has me all atwitter. What was told to me is that they will look a lot like humans but will have some construct like abilities.

Pulling for ensouled construct options.

I mean, if a goddess can be a robot, surely a robot can have a soul. :)

Wait, which goddess is a robot, and therefore, more awesome than any of the other deities?

Brigh, goddess of invention. She looks a little bit like this, or if one prefers for their Golarion, this!

edit-Beat'n. And concur'd with that sentiment!

This is the first I have heard of her. Why isn't there a 64 page book devoted to her yet? :-(

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I blame Daleks. They're afraid of what the ascension of The Brig might entail for them, and the similarity in spelling confused them. An early-dawn raid on the Paizo offices was beaten back by the warehouse velociraptors, though.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Force Llamas sounds interesting.

Brigh, never heard of her, but a machine deity is cool.

I heard that the Monkey Goblin will be a 0HD race with rules to play as a character.

Does anyone know what the Mecha-Scorpion is actually called?

I believe that it's name was as yet not decied, as it'll need a two page spread, and if they don't confirm it yet, they can have it slot in where it will fit in.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

No, I remember James Jacobs said what it was called somewhere on these forums awhile ago but I do not remember were and I can't remember the creatures name.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

It was Annihilator, if they weren't bluffin'.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

That's right it was the Annihilator but for some reason I kept thinking it was the demolisher.

So far we are getting:
Gearsmen of Numeria
Star Monarchs
Vesperguant
Whirlmaw
Veiled Masters
Fungus Queen
Monkey Goblin
Lashunta
Rovagug spawn 1(Chemnosit?)
Rovagug spawn 2(Volnagur?)
Lorthact
Vetala Vampire(template)
Blighted Fey(template)
Mutants of the Mana Waste(template)
Annihilater
Androids?

Is it October yet?

Getting excited for this book.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Your not the only one getting excited for this book, I pray that it doesn't get delayed.

I hope we get those multi-leg lizard mounts that the female Lashunta have and hopefully the androids are a playable race.

Does anyone remember were the Vesperguant was mentioned and what it is?

Andoran

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

You could call me just as excited to see the cover reveal.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I have a feeling that the cover won't have the Annihilator on it :(

But here's to hoping!

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I can't wait to read all the complaints about how Golarion-specific the monsters and templates within are! Should be exciting!

Oh, but I'm also excited about the book itself . . . not as excited since finding out the Gearsmen won't be nigh indestructible as I'd once hoped (according to how they were described in "City of the Fallen Sky"), but still quite excited! Very much want to see the Blighted Fey template, as I'll be running Kingmaker soon, and I'm a huge fan of the Spawn of Rovagug!

I don't know. I'm not involved with that upstairs stuff. :-P

I DO know that the cover hasn't actually been built yet, so even if right now WERE the time to update the product... we couldn't.

3 robots + 1 android out of about 45 monsters isn't too much, I hope...

How do you know the theme for Bestiary 4 won't be automata? ;p

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Yeah 3 robots and an android aren't that many machines plus were getting every creature type and many subtypes represented plus every CR from 1/2 to 25.

The theme for the Bestiary 4 will be space aliens vs robots with some mutants as well;)

The great thing about having the Annihilator robot on the final cover?

We'll finally be able to get a clear look at the thing without that barbarian's stones blocking the view!

There was also an episode of Futurama were Bender and Amy hooked up. I think it parodied the Gay Marriage debate if I remember correctly.
