Go to map for forests!

*****

This has been for a long time one of my go to maps for needing something that happens in a forest setting. It has a lot of versatility and useful be it for something that happens in a scenario or home games random encounters.

The only realistic forest

****( )

A very attractive depiction.

The river side is pleasant and potentially useful, though I wish they could restrain their fetish for cramming non-generic detail into everything: if a standing stone circle were desired, it could easily be added by placing a couple Map Pack tiles next to the flip-mat.

The forest floor side is the exceptional feature of this product. Although severing through the trunks of the still-standing trees makes the area look like a clearcut, accepting that convention allows one to use the only terrain mat I've encountered which actually looks similar to a REAL forest, with deadfall, undergrowth, and random elevation changes.

If the river on the flip side had been done in the same realistic fashion, with brambles on the shores & steep banks, this would be the single most useful flip-mat ever designed.

Beautiful

*****

When Paizo took over producing the art for the flip-mats from Steel Sqwire several years ago, the quality took a noticeable leap forward -- and the art employed here marks another such leap. The terrain is simply awash in fine detail. This is probably the best-looking "table-scale" art I've ever seen in a gaming product.

I believe this is also the first flip-mat to depict a forest unmarked by paths or other signs of civilization, making it a very useful addition to my GMing toolbox.

Beautiful, atmospheric, and my 5 year old loves it!

*****

This is just behind the new town square map in terms of sheer beauty, but surpasses it for utility. I have already used it a half dozen or so times in three different campaigns; it's worked great each time. As a wilderness scene it combines atmosphere with generic utility very well - the only thing I'd recommend for Paizo is to leave out stuff like the druid stones. With the 'dungeon' maps we'll be playing on the same map for 3-4 hours, so the more interesting stuff on it the better, but overly specific details really hurt the reuseability that is vital for a single-encounter product like a wilderness scene.

AMAZING

*****

I've not used this map yet, but I know it will be a staple.
