Monsters Unleashed V.5 is the fifth release in an exciting line of short monster supplements designed to update a host of third edition monsters to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game rules. The monsters for this series have been selected by the patrons of the Monster Update Project that was launched by Purple Duck Games as our premier product of August 2010.

The fifth Monsters Unleashed features updated statistics for the asnae, gnarl, ith'n ya'roo, mezadevs, and striga. All have been updated to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game ruleset by Stefen Styrsky and Mark Gedak and illustrated by Gary Dupuis.

Thank you to Kyle Bentley, Kenneth Axel Carlsson, Sam Hing and Tom Baumbach for selecting the monsters for this issue.

Thank you for taking the time to review this.

You're welcome! Excellent work on this particular one!

The next release will likely be in January with the whole set of 105 monsters upgrade/converted with new art by Michael and Gary. As per my recent announcement on the Purple Duck Games blog.

January is for the Complete Monsters Unleashed.

Yes I read it, but I liked the little 5 monster books.

I do too, but customers do not seem to. I have not broken even on any in this series and that is with Stefen and I writing for free.

Well that sucks that you are losing money on them.

That's disappointing. These are well done books, and monster books usually sell pretty well. I certainly hope your compilation does better for you!

I hope so too. Regardless, I made a commitment to produce a certain product and we are going to make sure its the best product we can make. As a compilation, I'll will save some time because I won't be doing layout on multiple smaller releases and can concentrate on its writing.

Mark, I applaud your professionalism and class and hope the series succeeds once it's compiled in a book - the creatures have been steadily becoming cooler and this one is NEAT.

Andoran

I think a compilation is agreat idea.

As Owen said, people tend to like monster books (emphasis on the BOOK part) so I have a feeling compiling these all into one product is the way to go.

That sucks, for no other reason than I was hoping to see a part II to this. When you 1st started the project it was sold mainly on RPGnow..and had minimal exposure on the Paizo boards that I saw, at least. Perhaps that ans/or a modest kickstarter would make a part 2 possible..
Just random thoughts

For SGG, availability here at Paizo has a huge impact on our PDF profitability. There may be something else going on as well, though I can't say what offhand. Our Mythic Menagerie book are solid sellers, and if they don't tend to hit the peaks of popularity our best breakout books do (and if I knew what caused those I'd publish nothing but such products anyway), they certainly aren't anywhere near our worst.

I'm not ruling out anything. I just need to find a way to make sure things are as successful as they can be. I think a bigger release has better potential.

That said, the Monsters Unleashed googledoc is open for people to join and comment on if you wish, just drop me an email and I will add you.
