They have been called by many names. Scions of the inferno, masters of flame, maniacs and firestorm fanatics, they are all descriptions following in the charred wake of a pyromancer.

Pyromancers look within themselves for arcane prowess and draw forth the mighty ability to bend the power of fire to their will, be it for good or evil. Empowered, and sometimes consumed, by their innate powers, these arcane-touched spell casters endlessly indulge in and refine their dangerous abilities, gradually learning how to harness their skills and call forth ever greater power. Some pyromancers seek to control their abilities through discipline and study, others give in to their innate magic, letting its wild nature drive their lives into a fanaticism, often, with explosive results.

I liked the class. Overall, the mechanics of it is "similar" to that of the Warmage in 3.5.

Good descriptions of class features.

Limited class skills (less than Sorcerer). They have Fly as a skill when the Class has no flying spells. You can argue that: 1) you have the Elemental Body spell and you turn in to an Air Elemental. But, I presume you can only turn into a Fire Elemental (Class restriction??); and/or 2) the Class has UMD so you can buy a wand with the Fly spell. Unless I missed something this has to be clarified.

Loved the Archetypes!!!!!
I would have expected more new spells but the ones provided are very good.
Sure, there are several typos that hopefully will be fixed.

My concern is that the Pyromancer seems, as written, a little bit overpowering in terms of its Specials.

My rating of 4 stars is based on the typos and the Fly skill being "useless" for the class.

Am I missing something?...

I can't help but wonder if I downloaded some rough draft of this PDF, because I am seeing a ton of errors in it, and I haven't even read over the entire thing yet.

It is riddled with typos, both spelling and grammatical errors. Heck, the "Pyromancer Spells Per Day" table on p.6 should clearly be "Pyromancer Spells Known", not spells per day. Some of the spells in the Pyromancer spell list don't match up with the spell descriptions (Fire Orb is listed as Orb of Fire, Flaming Bolt is listed as Fire Bolt...)

Worse than that, though, their spell list Yes, there are 14 spells listed as being new spells in the Pyromancer spell list, and there are 14 new spell descriptions in the PDF, but 3 of them do not match up at all. The Pyromancer spells list names Cinder Cloud, Fire Stones, and Flame Gate as new spells that Pyromancers should know. But there is no spell descriptions for any of these spells. Instead, we get spell descriptions for Sapping Flames, Weapons of Flame, and Smoldering Spittle, which aren't on the Pyromancer spell list at all.

I hope that some kind of revision will be released to correct some of these problems. It seems like an interesting class, but someone needs to sit down and proof-read this PDF before I would ever allow this class at my table.

Edit: A revision for this PDF has been published, fixing many of the problems that I had mentioned in my above review, so I have changed my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars. Cinder Cloud, Fire Stones, and Flame Gate are no longer listed on the Pyromancer spell list; instead Sapping Flames, Weapons of Flame, and Smoldering Spittle now appear on the Pyromancer spell list. There are still 2 small errors that could be addressed: In the short description of the spell Maddening Flames, it says the target takes a 1d6 penalty to Int, Wis, and Cha, but in the long description of the spell, it says the target takes 1d6 points of damage per round. Also, there still are no prices listed for the two new items (Arsonist's Kit and Fire Flask) that are on p.12 of the PDF.

This is looking like a fun class, definitely a top choice for a blaster, especially since they gain the ability to overcome fire resistance and immunity at higher levels.

Through the Fire and The Flames

I like fire magic, I really do. Who doesn't like picking up a handful of d6 and casting fireball? Who isn't afraid of catching fire? Fire is something that can be beautiful or terrifying, useful or destructive, and the Pyromancer is the same.

The pdf is 13 pages long, with the last page as OGL.

The first page of the pdf has an excellent piece of artwork, the typical description of the class, and the role the Pyromancer plays, which can be summed up in one word: Blaster.

Pyromancer similar to sorcerers, being both a spontaneous caster and Charisma based.. Their class features are all about burning their opponents to the ground, as is to be expected. But with fire resistance and immunity such a common feature of monsters, how could an entire class based around dealing fire damage remain effective after just a few levels? Luckily, the good people at Fat Goblin Games thought of this and gave them the ability to reduce and later ignore such otherwise debilitating abilities. To quote the pdf “even stone can be reduced to cinders.”

After the class features we get the Pyromancers spell list, complete with 14 new spells!

Next we get new favored class options, and two archetypes.

The Flame Forge Crafter is based around giving armor, weapons, and shields special abilities related to fire.

The Hellfire Ascendent is a Pyromancer that decided normal fire wasn't enough and entered a pact with a fiend, allowing the flames of Hell to course through him.

The new spells I mentioned earlier are next, along with a picture of what I assume is a goblin pyromancer(a scary thought in and of itself!).

Blazing Ray
Chained Inferno
Fiery Doom
Fire Orb
Flame Stride
Flaming Bolt
Flaming Coal
Flaming Fog
Flaming Tentacles
Maddening Flames
Obscuring Smoke
Sapping Flames
Weapons of Flame
Smoldering Spittle

Finally, we get two new items, the arsonist's kit and the fire flask and a picture of what they look like.

Throughout this entire pdf, I only noticed two typos in one spell, and how underpowered one favored class option would be in a game that goes to level 20. The class features look balanced, the artwork is great, and everything is written in such a way that it is easy to understand. Taking all of that into account, I don't hesitate to give this product 5 out of 5 stars.
