The friends, fiends, and foes of Pathfinder's Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path invade your gaming table with Rise of the Runelords, the brand new Pathfinder Battles prepainted miniatures set from Paizo Publishing and WizKids! This stunning set features 64 all-new sculpts drawn from the gorgeous art in Paizo's Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path Anniversary Edition, a hardcover collection of the very first Pathfinder campaign! Designed to enhance the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path, but suitable for any fantasy roleplaying campaign, these figures raise the bar on prepainted miniatures, setting a new standard of excellence and featuring a wide variety of monsters, NPCs, and heroes from the most popular Pathfinder campaign of all time!
Pathfinder Battles Rise of the Runelords miniatures come in two product configurations: Standard Boosters contain 4 Large, Medium, and Small minis, and Huge Boosters contain 1 Huge mini.
Rise of the Runelords Standard Boosters contain 1 Large figure and 3 Medium or Small figures
Rise of the Runelords Standard Bricks contain 8 Standard Boosters (32 figures total)
Rise of the Runelords Standard Cases contain 4 Standard Bricks (32 Standard Boosters, 128 figures total)
Rise of the Runelords Huge Boosters contain 1 Huge figure
Rise of the Runelords Huge Cases contain 6 Huge Boosters (6 figures total)
Rise of the Runelords Case Bundles contain 1 Standard Case and 1 Huge Case (128 small, medium or large figures and 6 Huge figures)
Purchasers should get no to very few duplicate figures in a brick. Buyers who purchase factory-sealed cases should get a nearly complete set of figures. (As with any randomized product, collation is not guaranteed.)
I might not be understanding the price system... but at the top of the page, it has a bunch of prices, and their discount's listed... one in particular stands out, and I think it might be an error:
Preorder Huge Booster: $158.32 $24.99
the $158.32 is crossed out of course, with $24.99 being the actual price.
but that super huge discount doesn't fit in line with all the other listed prices, and I'm guessing that it's miss printed somehow.
I just figured I'd mention it.
The error is the $158.32, which should be blank, just like the Standard Booster at the bottom.
From what I can tell, the Huge Booster, itself, is 24.99 with no discount (much like the Standard Booster has no discount). If you multiply the price of the Huge Booster by six (the number of Huge figures in a Huge case) you get the undiscounted price for a Huge Case.
TL,DR: the crossed out 158.32 is the error and shouldn't be there.
Our distributor's info disagrees with our own info about what the product code should be for the Huge Booster. We're looking into it... and don't worry; it's totally cosmetic. If you order it from us before or after we fix it, you'll get the same thing: an individual Huge booster, for $24.99.
Oooooohhhhh yeahhhhhh, still excited. Counting down the days. Thank you, everyone, for making these minis possible. Can not wait. I'll buy everyone you make.

Have they actually announced a date yet? Everything I see is still "August, 2012".
Considering the rate at which my players are trying to get me to run through RotRL, I think we're going to be in book 2 or 3 by the time they arrive! (And this is the group that in half a dozen multi-page e-mails and then an 8-hour session managed to get through the first encounter of book 1).

Consider yourself fortunate. The group I'm running will enter the Eye of Avarice in our next session, set for August 5th. We will just miss being able to use any of the figures during the campaign.

We are just about to finish Book 4 (close to battling Mokmurion) but decided to take a short break (2 months, which is short considering we've been playing for a year and a half) so we could wait for my copy of the Anniversary Edition to arrive and give our GM a break trying to convert everything to PF rules.
So you could always have a few weeks running something else until they arrive. :)
I can't wait to get my hands on this set so I can start the Anniversary version campaign with my players. Their characters have been ready for two months now...
I'm also curious if there are any "hidden" rarity in this set (including for the huge ones). And what will be the distribution for the regular boosters.
One last thing, I don't mean to nitpick, but since this is an official list, might as well have the names match the adventure (both original and anniversary versions)...
- Malfeshnekor (with an H in the middle, not a K)
- Shalelu Andosana (no R in her last name)

They've said August 22nd for street date in another thread. That'll be after the GenCon shipment goes out, so if you've got things held for a monthly shipment, this would get bumped to September.

Good, because there is no way I'd be able to pay for them this month. Next month, I should be able, as long as I get the extra hours I'm scheduled for, and the money I'm owed for a couple projects in editing/layout.
Can you do this after you've placed your order Vic? My order states that everything is being held until all pre-order items are ready(even though is says its going to ship everything seperately anyways).
I can't seem to find the "never hold anything" option now that the orders placed. (and yes this is likely one of those "look on the far right side of your screen sir" kind of questions)

It’s strange, my shipping date is the same (August 24) for either “Hold for monthly shipment” or “Never hold anything.”
Also, I thought the plan was to have the set out in the stores and at GenCon at the same time? With my shipping date being August 24th now, has it been pushed back?
The price of this set is just too high. The first set was just right. We also need more PC figures to use and not just the iconics. Give us more figures for our players to use.

Your first point is reasonable. I'll still manage this because I've saved up over the last many months but yes, it's a big hit. I'm not looking forward to Shattered Star's set being in a mere four months and still being 55 molds. But it's all relative; everyone's got a different make/break point. Paizo has said they'll monitor sales levels to see what impact set size has and adjust accordingly.
As for the contents... remember what this set IS. It's the Rise of the Runelords set. It's specifically made for people running RotRL and contains the special monsters held therein. The idea is that you can easily substitute in almost any humanoid for a PC but a scanderig you really have no good choices. Now... these monsters will work well in other campaigns for other things, but really, this set is about celebrating RotRL in style.

You Do realize this price for this set is lower in the long run than heroes and monsters was for almost every type of collector, right?
For completion who look at it on a per mini basis, This is cheaper (3.12 per figure vs 3.99 - 6.99 for H&M).... [Edit I used the case price for RotRL and the pack price for H&M - correcting that now, 3.61 per mini in H&M]
For someone who only needs one of each model, this is about the same price, as you have more doubles to sell off in the secondary market (70 minis extra instead of 36) ...
for the casual buyer, this is the cheaper (3 H&M packs* 3.99 each + 1 Large H&M pack*6.99 = $19 these packs = $15 or 3.75 per mini including a large).
A person wanting to have the majority of the sculpts for the bad guys in an AP, and get them from packs (The store I occasionally work for this is the most prevalent buyer). In the DDM days you'd have to drop $300 per set to get 3 cases on ebay (by far the cheapest way for DDM packs), and you'd still be 12 pieces off from a full set, and you'd have to do this for 4-5 sets to get this close to having all the minis needed to run an AP.
It's only the casual buyer who prefers to buy by the case who is hit by a higher sticker price, and most of those people don't like single mini packs, prefer the bigger number of molds per set, and many recognize that they are paying less per mini than they were in the last set. (many of these payer also have too many PC race minis from DDM already, and would call foul if they added more PC models into this set - I already think there are 7 spots filled by humanoids that could have better been filled by other monsters)
Yes, the price per mini is high compared to the old DDM minis.... but that is why the DDM minis are no longer for sale, they were not making enough money to justify the price anymore. This is in the same ballpark as the current DDM sets ($40 for 12 figures equates to 3.33 per figure, 80% of which are repaints of when the buyers already have)

The options I'm talking about appear only to people who have subscribed to Pathfinder Battles and/or Pathfinder Comics in addition to at least one other Paizo sub line. Otherwise, stuff just ships as it becomes available.
It’s strange, my shipping date is the same (August 24) for either “Hold for monthly shipment” or “Never hold anything.”
This is because the only Paizo sub you have is the RPG, which doesn't have a release in September; if a subscriber has no monthly Paizo shipment to hold for, that means we won't hold it. (We don't have the September Pathfinder comic in our system yet; your future shipments will change a bit when that goes in.)

WizKids set the retail release date of the minis as 8/22, though they will actually debut at Gen Con on August 16.
The shipping dates we list are always the last day of the week that we expect to ship things; your shipment could actually go out anytime between 8/20 and 8/24.
I'm probably gonna feel like an idiot here in a second, but I was wondering if there's a way for you to ship all my August stuff together, then ship the minis, then go back to holding everything for September. So that the end result is that the minis are the only "single" shipped item.

Yes, I didn't originally realize that the PFRPG subscription was the only subscription that you (Paizo) truly controlled. So the same date makes sense now.

Ok, I was kind of hoping to have my minis waiting for me when getting back from GenCon. However, I guess I can wait another week (or so). :)

All of Paizo's own releases for a given month always ship together. So just switch your shipping pref to "never hold anything" until the minis ship, and then set it back to "hold for monthly Paizo shipment" afterwards. Unless you intend to do this every time minis come out, in which case you should just leave it as "never hold anything." (Unless you add a Comics sub, the *only* thing that ever gets shipped separately are the minis.)
Oh no I mean I realize the minis ship separately, they come in their own MASSIVE BOX tm. I guess I can do the swap to never hold so the minis get shipped while all the books still ship together, I got my email saying the August books should ship soon if I change over now will those still ship together, then the minis, and then I can swap back so all of September still comes at one time. I'm just trying to minimize shipping costs and number of shipments. While still getting my minis this month :).
My ENWorld review on Pathfinder Battles: Rise of the Runelords is now available HERE.
Short strokes: With Pathfinder Battles: Rise of the Runelords, Wizkids has provided a large set of miniatures that offers excellent quality with some truly unique and dramatic figures. All of this is great and well appreciated. The problem with the set -- the only problem -- is the price tag which attaches to all of this.
I also made a Youtube unboxing video and review, which when it has finished uploading should be available HERE. (Warning, the video is lengthy at about 45 mins or so in duration.)
Shelf date is 8/22. The subscriptions usually take a week or twoto go out, so they want the authorization to be current...... they were supposed to be debutedat gencon this weekend

Early this morning I received an email stating that the miniatures along with the comics will ship next week (I thought they would start going out to the subscribers this week) but what made my eye twitch for a second were the shipping costs: 164$ for international shipping is no chicken feed.
With the hardcopy subscriptions earlier this month this really pushes my RPG budget. Guess I have to ask the players of my 4 groups to spring lunch for the next month :-).
So Rise of the Runelords has 3 different miniature formats to choose from: paper minis, pawns and WizKids prepainted plastic. Both the paper minis and WizKids plastic have a Rune Giant represented; the pawns do not.
So my question is if I’m using pawns to run the adventure path, will I need to supplement certain monsters with either the plastic or paper? I understand that no gargantuan miniatures will be covered in the pawn sets; I’m just wondering how many other characters/creatures will be missing from the pawn set?
And will this be true of the upcoming Shattered Star pawns as well? Will I need to supplement them with paper minis if I’m using the pawns to run the adventure path?

If you want to cover everything exactly right, with named characters marked out appropriately, yes. There will probably be good proxies for most everything in the Bestiary Box though, and the NPC Codex pawns in October should cover all needed humanoid stuff pretty well.
There is a Rise of the Runelords Pawns set coming out, I do believe...
Yeah Im ordering it because the prices for the pre-painted minis are just too high...when it comes down to making my mortgage payment, or buying a case of minis...well there really is no choice there, lol.

Yeah thats what I thought...it's too bad that just one format doesn't cover everything, and it's more of a mix and match...but I guess it's better than having no choices at all, lol.
I find it kind of funny. We all have known that this was coming out for a while now (Almost 6 months or so) and during that time was it to difficult to save up for during that time? Skip some lunch, bag it instead here a soda there, or not go for coffee or something.
I am using this as an Anniversary gift from my wife and a Birthday gift too.. by combining them together my wife was all for it! :)
One thing people should remember is that things can be saved for instead of thinking of paying for it all at once in one lump sum. Breaking it down and then paying for it over a long period of time makes this really easy to get for me.
I spoke with Paizo earlier today and they indicated it will begin shipping tomorrow.
Aw, man! My next game is Friday night and I was hoping to do the "big reveal" to my group.
But shipping from Seattle on Wednesday by UPS Ground to San Francisco happens to be a 3-day trip, so I'll get 'em Monday, right AFTER my two-session weekend.

Yeah. I just like to whine.
The irony of it all is I just received an email from another seller that my RotRL mini order just shipped…before my order from Paizo.

They've been backed up for a while -- I got notification of S&S 6 and SS 1 shipping on 8/7, but they didn't actually leave the warehouse until 8/13.
On the bright side, if their shipping is THAT backed up it means they won't be going out of business any time soon...
