Umm, when can we actually see an image of at least some of the minis? This would help a great deal to thoes of us considering if the "sticker shock" is worth it or not. ( i do notice, even with my non-industry eyes, a better quality mini in the Pazio lines)

There are 4 different sizes but they are sold as two different boosters. You have the

Standard Booster which has up to 3 different sizes in it. You will have either 3 small OR Medium mini's AND 1 Large mini.

Huge Booster has 1 size in it and that is a Huge ONLY.

The Promo is all together by itself and not random which is a Gargantuan. (Rune Giant).

OK, here's my beef (and apologies if I'm hitting a point that's been addressed many times before):
- Personally, I don't care for the paper minis; my players all have lovingly-painted metal figures, so the paper minis look 'cheap' next to them
- Also, price point isn't *that* much of an issue for me; I can survive the nearly $4-a-mini average that the $519 case gives me

HOWEVER, the statement, "You SHOULD get all of the minis, but our packages are randomized so there's no guarantee" absolutely guarantees I won't buy this product.

All I want is a set of pre-painted plastic (or metal) minis for the full RotRL AP, exactly like I get when I buy the paper minis. If I have to pay $600 for the plastic instead of $30 for the paper, so be it. Pathfinder's my current addiction, and I've got a $200/month budget to pay for it. At $19.93/month for the AP, I've got some elbow room.

But telling me that I have to shell out over $500 for "a good chance" that I'll have all the minis I need for my game doesn't cut it with me. And no, I'm not going to go playing around on eBay trying to pick up the after-market missing figures.

Has WizKids done the market research that proves that randomized sets generate more revenue than specific ones for the large sets? I can see it for smaller sets, but I don't see a lot of people shelling out hundreds of dollars for "a good chance" of having a full set.

All I want is a simple, "Here is the full set of every monster figure and NPC you'll need for the RotRL AP. That'll be $600," and I'll be happy.

Maybe it's just me...

*EDIT* Just saw Vic's post that there's a 93% chance you'll get the "complete" set, but does "complete" mean including every mini you'll need to run the AP, or just every mini that WizKids made?

It means every mini in the RotRL set.

They have said that rarities were set with the revised adventure in mind.

@ nobody's home. You certainly won't have enough rune giants. Most of the others you'd have a shot at but the attack on Sandpoint had a lot of giants and dire bears so I'd say that would come up short as well. Just guessing though no one at the con mentioned it one way or the other.

First, with Heroes and Monsters, Vic cleared up what "should" means in their minds. It means that each case is intended to have a full set. That's the design goal, and the instructions to the human beings who are collating and packaging the boxes for distribution. They aren't offering a guarantee because humans make mistakes, and there could be a couple cases distributed where the set isn't complete.

Second, Paizo will be selling individuals from this set. No need to go hunting on eBay. Yes, a single will be more expensive than the case average, but it won't be hard to find. You'll also (likely) get a discount. I recall last time we were offered a hefty discount on one single. If you have to pick up one mini at $12 to complete your set, it's not that big a deal. The QC necessary to manually re-check each case before shipping wouldn't be cheaper.

So hey, but the case. Plan for maybe having to spend an extra $12 on Paizo's own site to get the one box you're mysteriously lacking. No biggie. I don't think there were more than a couple cases reported with H&M that weren't complete. It was very, very good reports all around.

I believe it was said earlier in this thread that unless your PCs do something horribly horribly wrong (granted they're PCs so that's almost guaranteed to happen) you'll never need more than one Rune Giant at any one time.

Thanks for that -- the way the selling page reads makes it sound like intentional randomization. "We're really trying" is significantly better. I work in the software industry, and I'd like to say that about some of my co-workers. ;-)

Better than that - they've done the research which indicates that a non-randomised set wont be produced. It's not a question of randomised vs non-randomised it's a question of randomised vs no minis.

It's worth noting that the intended proportion of complete cases is lower with this set than it was for Heroes and Monsters. It's likely that there will be more cases reported which arent complete.

James and Vic have BOTH mentioned that they redid the encounters to the point where the Rune Giants are not so numerous. As far as how many you will need has not been announced but it will NOT be 6 or even 5.

Might want to wait until the official numbers come out before you jump to summary conclusions such as the above statements.

I have a feeling QC is pretty good with the Pathfinder Sets at the very least for Wizkids. I was more then impressed thus far with the quality and the set determination for the previous set. I know it will continue through this one as well as the future ones. Wizkids really wants to keep producing these! :)

I still think it's an excellent result - but people shouldnt base how likely it is to get a full set of minis this time around by looking at the 'case reports' thread for the last set.

Actually the 93% is a guess and not a clear statistic that can be stated as fact. They would rather er on the side of about a 93% range rather then say it is 99% full set this time. 93 is damn good regardless.

This is correct, but it's also important to note that the goal for that last 7% is for them to be missing just one mini. (Engineering a 100% goal on this one would have required adding several more boosters to each case, and we really didn't want to do that.)

I don't remember seeing a Festering Spirit printed anywhere. I checked all the Bestiaries and RotRL Anniversary. So I'm curious what it's a mini for besides being a spectre recolor.

Yes, it is a repainted spectre and I really like it. Like I said I wish I had a few more and if it becomes available in the Paizo store I will buy some.

Naw it's not in the Anniversary hardcover I already checked there, I really think it's just a recolor which is cool. Though unsure why they would change it's name instead of just having Spectre on the base.

A Brick of Standard boosters will NOT qualify you for the Rune Giant. The only way they will let you buy one right away at least is IF you buy the Standard booster CASE (399.99. If you get the complete case for 519.99 then it also qualifies you.)

You can get the Rune Giant from other sites as well. IF they allow you to do that on their site or even at a local friendly game store. IT is up to "them" how they sell them. So you may or may not have to buy a case with them too... or you might be able to buy it outright from them too.

Our distributor's info disagrees with our own info about what the product code should be for the Huge Booster. We're looking into it... and don't worry; it's totally cosmetic. If you order it from us before or after we fix it, you'll get the same thing: an individual Huge booster, for $24.99.

93% case completion is odd. The only explanation I can come up with is there will be super rares, at least one of which will be produced in a quantity slightly less than the total number of cases (say 10,000 cases but only 9300 Karzougs, or 9750 each of Karzoug, Lamatar, and Athroxis).

It's on Erik's to-do list, and should happen prior to the set shipping.

I might not be understanding the price system... but at the top of the page, it has a bunch of prices, and their discount's listed... one in particular stands out, and I think it might be an error:

Preorder Huge Booster: $158.32 $24.99

the $158.32 is crossed out of course, with $24.99 being the actual price.

but that super huge discount doesn't fit in line with all the other listed prices, and I'm guessing that it's miss printed somehow.
