Dungeon Master S |
Orryn's spell is exactly the kind of thing this creature hates: FORT: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24. But miraculously, he makes his save.
Fel?
Harnac Lucridious |
Yeah, he rolls an unnatural number of 20's. We're used to it.
reminder:
ROUND 3 (assuming Fel continues chanting)
slam this sucker down.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Dungeon Master S |
I need to know what Fel does first Harnac.
Hérwë Felthanilal "Fel" |
Round the Third
Fel continues his chant, including several lines intended to fire Hack's blood to a boil. In trying to whip the Dwarf into a murderous frenzy, Fel hopes to bring about the swift conclusion of this fight.
Sorry for the delay - I was driving home from PA
Dungeon Master S |
Fel chants and Hack swings, the combination is potent and the creature's eyes speak panic...
Dungeon Master S |
The creature, now clearly on the ropes, takes a swing at Gripper, 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 and sticks the wolf for DMG: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4. He then retreats 5' and spends a move action to slam the door.
ROUND 3
Fel: Continues with his oration.
Harnac: Harnac hits with his first attack, misses with his second.
Enemy: Stabs Gripper and shuts the door.
Sumac: Current
Gripper:
Azdak:
Obyrn:
Orryn:
Azdak Ejderha |
Round 3
Azdak, with his crossbow loaded, proceeds along the hallway to see what has become of the creature. The sorcerer delays until the others have passed before he enters the room with the creature.
"He's shut the door on you, Sumac! Don't let him get away! I've got you covered, my friend."
Dungeon Master S |
Sumac's door opening was just what the doctor ordered. The wolf barrels through, and lands squarely on the humanoid's throat. After the bite the wolf tries to take him down. Trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 and the wolf does it. The creature is snarling and fighting frantically even laying on his back.
Fel: Continues with his oration.
Harnac: Harnac hits with his first attack, misses with his second.
Enemy: Stabs Gripper and shuts the door.
Sumac: Opens the door
Gripper: Takes the creature down
Azdak: Delay
Obyrn: Current turn
Orryn:
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
Obyrn is still blinded for this round so he stays put.
Orryn Quattlebaum |
History repeats itself...
Seeing as he still has a line of effect, Orryn will cast flare at the creature (DC 12 Fort). Again.
I WILL SUCK ALL THOSE 20S OUT OF YOU!
Dungeon Master S |
SAVE: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Not today anyway! The creature twists from the effect at the last second.
Fel!
Harnac Lucridious |
ROUND 4
Hack curses this creature's cowardice sulfurously, then charges into the room to take this thing OUT. He lumbers directly over the fallen bad guy, exposing himself briefly to a swipe...
AoO: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 7 - 4 = 6
...but the attempt is feeble at best. Hack then squares himself up for a huge overhand chop, trying to liberate this thing's noggin from its neck.
Attack vs. flanked prone bad guy: 1d20 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Attacks include +1 hit/damage due to chant. Deduct if Fel's round 4 action does not maintain the chant.
Dungeon Master S |
I'll assume Fel is still chanting.
Harnac's blade sinks so deeply that the floor under the creature chips and cracks.
Out of initiative.
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
Any blinding flash of light this time?
His vision returning, Obyrn rushes towards the sounds of battle and bursts into the room spear-first, only to be disappointed with a dead body.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Dungeon Master S |
Yes, my apologies. There is a flash of light, and it is blinding, but the effect doesn't last long, and there are no current threats.
Obyrn, which room are you surveying with that check?
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
Oh, I was looting the body, sorry.
I do want to check the room I just left though, because the walls appear to be lined with books, no?
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Dungeon Master S |
The creatures have next to nothing on them. Their armor consists of rags wrapped around them like a mummy. They have masterwork daggers and you recover 4 doses of some kind of poison.
The room with the books is MUCH more interesting. (Assuming Azdak casts Detect Magic):
You recover two scrolls. One shelf of books contains a series of ledgers. In the ledgers is a scroll entitled, The Razing of the Temple of Apep by An-Hepsu V.
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
I can do the Detect Magic and I'll grab The Razing of the Temple of Apep.
The two scrolls?
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
I'll also pocket one of the daggers and two doses of the poison.
I coat the dagger in the poison from one vial and stab Azdak to see what it does. Just kidding :-)
Dungeon Master S |
Obyrn, applying poison comes with the risk of accidentally exposing yourself to the poison.
Orryn Quattlebaum |
Of course, Harnac, my friend...stand still!
Orryn pulls out his wand of cure light wounds for the dwarf.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
Obyrn, applying poison comes with the risk of accidentally exposing yourself to the poison.
Yep, I'm not using them now. I stash the dagger and the vials in the hidden pockets about my person.
Hérwë Felthanilal "Fel" |
Fel jumps in surprise, Good Sir! Please remove your hand from my pocket!
He glares at Obryn and starts wondering about the man. Fel also wonders how the crafty rogue found his hidden pocket, was it just because the bard was standing around his person?
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
MY person, MY pockets.
pickpocket's outfit on a half-ELF dear sir :-)
Dungeon Master S |
Where to intrepid Pathfinders?
Harnac Lucridious |
Hack turns around and looks at what appear to be pantry or closet doors. How 'bout this one? He reaches for the door, but hesitates against the sneakier folk wanting to check them first...
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
I'll check it for traps first.
Righthand door: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Lefthand door: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Dungeon Master S |
Neither door seems to be locked or trapped. When opened however, they each contain the body of a dead Pathfinder, picked clean by looters.
Orryn Quattlebaum |
More bodies? Orryn shakes his head. This place is deadlier than the tombs of Gallowspire!
Orryn looks over the two corpses.
Heal check 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Heal check 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
Obyrn looks at Fel and mutters You know these fellows?
Kn Local: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Hérwë Felthanilal "Fel" |
Know: Local: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Hmmm.... I'm not sure...
Know: Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Did something obviously dungeon-rific kill them?
Know: Geography: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Can Fel tell anything about where they might have come from?
Dungeon Master S |
Orryn and Fel agree, these men where "murderlated" with sharp pointy things. They resemble local Pathfinders, just more bodies in a growing list of casualties. The chances there there will be anyone to whom you can deliver the Decemvirate's word seem to be slimming.
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
The chances there there will be anyone to whom you can deliver the Decemvirate's word seem to be slimming.
I take it that I did not recognize either of these two as Miregold?
Azdak Ejderha |
"I wonder if these two were involved in Miregold's scheming, or if they tried to stand up to the Pathfinder and got killed in the process. I really hate to see pathfinders paying the price as they are."
Next, Azdak will begin exploring the room to the north. Is that a pipe organ he sees?
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Never mind. Can he even see his own hand in front of him?
Azdak seems preoccupied and looks to be daydreaming.
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
Obyrn does so:
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
DM says not trapped. Obryn opens it:
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Weaver, a Pathfinder |
Also, what were the two scrolls in the library that we discovered other than the Razing?
