Random Acts of...Fantasy Humor, third in the line, presents the GM with 100 randomly generated acts of humor suitable for a variety of fantasy-themed RPGs. In no case are stats for any NPCs given – indeed no names are even given – and no weapon or damage stats are included. This allows a GM to use the Random Acts of...Fantasy Humor with many different game systems.
This pdf is 6 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, leaving 4 pages content. This installment of the random acts of...-series provides us with 100 system-neutral acts of humorous things that range from silly to downright neat.
Some examples would be pregnant familiars (not too funny) and downright genius little ideas: What if the city's necromancer filed a restraining order against the party? Or what if the emperor declared gold useless and short swords the new currency? Unfortunately not all of these potential adventure seeds live up to the premise of being funny - "Rumor has it Old Man Wilter is building a flesh
golem out of dragon parts." Where is the joke here? I don't get it, sorry. Most of the random acts can be considered funny, though and I like that, seeing that humor is often somewhat neglected in RPGs.
Conclusion:
Editing and formatting are top-notch, I didn't notice any glitches. Layout adheres to 4WFG's 2-column b/w-standard and the pdf has some bookmarks, though their utility at 3 on 4 pages might be debated. All in all, I did like the strange ideas contained herein and if you're for example planning on running "The Harrowing" or "% Room Dungeon - The Rabbit Hole", several of the ideas herein can be used to great effect to expand upon them. The series, over all, keeps getting better. However, humor is very subjective and I did consider some acts not funny at all. Seeing that some "meh"-moments might be there for you as well, I'll settle for a final verdict of 4 stars - a good list of random acts that only missed the 5 stars by a narrow margin.
