Great Figure

5/5

One of my favorite miniatures from the set. One of the best lich miniatures that I've seen. Simple yet elegant.

Almost good

3/5

Very nice lich, except for 2 things. The head is just a little too small---a tiny head detracts from his arch-villain presence. And I can't get the nice skull-top of his staff to stand straight: it bends forward just a bit.

Best of the Set

5/5

In my opinion, this is the best figure in the set. I will use this figure for sure. Well done, nice paint job, and wonderful look.

Big scary guy

5/5

When I was perusing the preview pages, this was the piece that really stood out to me. The pictures made it look detailed, menacing, and convincing. Fortunately, it was in the very first box I opened when I finally bought some, and I have to say I was not disappointed.

First off, the sculpt is fantastic. The size pushes the upper end of medium but it's all in height, which makes it seem more intimidating. The overall sweep of the lines are also vertical, which makes it look even taller than it is. The detail of all the elements is good, from the robe's tattered edges to the face's malevolent glare to the eerie staff. I think my favorite element, though, is the clutching right hand -- that looks really, really creepy.

The coloring is very well done. With the predominance of black, dark brown, and white, something was needed to provide contrast, and the golden armor/epaulettes really succeeds here. The face is vivid and even the hands are well detailed. The robes themselves have a very nicely heavy gray drybrush that makes them look old and even more tattered.

In all, this is one fantastic lich, and if it weren't for the stunning ettin, this would be my favorite piece so far.

Of note, I happened to get duplicates of this piece, and on the second one, the staff was mismolded such that it ends shortly below the hand. Not a big deal -- it looks like a magic rod -- but it is worthy of mention.

Evil done right.

4/5

First review I've ever written, but the Lich Miniature from Heroes & Monsters absolutely floored me. From the tattered edges and cuffs of it's robe to the goat-skull topped staff, this is one of the true stand-out pieces in the set (which has incredibly even quality in all of its sculpts and paint jobs). You can even pick out the details of individual finger on both hands (something that I intend to bring out with a very faint ink-wash). My only real complaint about the lich (and they are minor ones to be sure) are that the piece is a little tall for the scale (unless you assume that it is either an elven lich or that it is in fact hovering above the ground with an extra long robe, and then he's fairly close) as he towers over the other medium sized pieces in the set (exception, the succubus, but shes flying), and that it is a generic lich. I understand that there is a need for a generic lich piece for GM's but there are several named liches in Pathfinder whom I would have loved to see made, especially at this level of quality.

This is now the 3rd or 4th prepainted, plastic lich figure I have and it is easily the best of them. Wizkids has come along way since they first produced a lich mini for Mage Knight in the Lancers expansion.

Really? This not a bad figure by any means but the best? How so?

I agree with Leo. most Lich figures look like mummies or zombies with robes and/or armor on. They don't look like powerful creatures. This one does. The head is also disfigured just enough that it doesn't look like a human skeleton head. plus the attention t detail in the paint helps tremendously..

That is all true, however my new lich currently has a folded-up piece of tissue paper on him. He came holding his goat's-head staff in front of his face, like a mask on a stick, so I'm using the tissue to hold it straight off to the side in the hope that it'll learn to stay that way.

If you're having trouble keeping the staff in the right position, gently heat the figure by dipping it in hot water or heat it with a blow dryer until it becomes slightly bendy, reposition the staff, and dip the mini in ice-cold water for a few minutes. This should lock the staff into its correct shape.

I got this piece yesterday and I was beyond excited. Then I noticed the one small yet neat little problem, it has succubus printed on the bottom not lich. So my question is this a common glitch or a super rare find?

Incorrect bases are a reasonably common glitch with this set I believe. You'd find more info in the case experience thread I imagine, but I for instance, received a Medusa disguised as an Elf Wizard! (Elf Wizard mini, Medusa base)

I agree this is my best lich mini.
