This spellcasting scoundrel is the perfect base class for players with a wild streak. Combining elements of casters and thieves, the gypsy breathes fresh air into your game by introducing deck building mechanics. The Deck of Divination isn't the only trick up the gypsy's sleeve; premonitions, second sight and wanderlust round out a robust list of immersive and engaging class features.
This class is dripping with flavor and has been thoroughly playtested.
Somehow starting wealth didn't make the jump from Google Docs to InDesign. I'm adding this to the FAQs for now (also for the ritualist), and will put it in the PDF as soon as we revisit the gypsy/ritualist for expansion material (2-3 months from now).
As always, feel free to ask more questions; I'm always happy to collect feedback and answer questions.
Interesting. This would be a good class to tie into the older Tarot magic supplement from 3.0, from Mystic Eye games. Either the Harrow deck or the Tarot would be a useful tool to represent random draws, or provide patterns for spell use over a certain day.
For example
Past, Present, Future-Standard 3 card draw, add expansion as needed.
Or you could also use this for encounter creation, especially themed random encounters. A fixed deck could be a good supplement to normal spells for deities of fate or luck (mostly fate, but Istus (Greyhawk), Olidiammara (Greyhawk), Mask (FR), Beshaba (FR), Tymora (FR), Phasrama (Golarion), Desna (Golarion), or even Cayden Cailean (Golarion), for clerics.
As for promoting sterotypes, doesn't all fantasy at some point promote them (cough, Seoni, cough!, Amiri, cough!, the new elf magus..)?
Ok..at long last I have my gypsy auguries done. If anyone wants a peak, message me at blackrose.hing@gmail.com, and I will send them to playtest or what have you
We are currently putting the finishing touches on the gypsy-ritualist expansion.
Though we schedule releases on the 1st of every month as a courtesy to our subscribers, the gypsy-ritualist expansion may be delayed by a day or two. This is the good kind of delay - we are not repairing critically flawed features, we are polishing exciting new features that were inspired by the final open playtest.
We will have a preview build available on our website by the end of the day so that subscribers (and anyone else that buys the expansion) can catch a glimpse of what to expect once the final balancing and editing passes are complete.
