Have the warlocks that dwell within this mountainside taken prisoners from the nearby town? Does the blood-magic they practice threaten to summon a dark power from the depths of hell? Have you come to put an end to the human sacrifice? Have the magicians that once lived here vanished all at once, leaving you to find the source of their disappearance? With D20 Cartographer, the story is in your hands!

Warlock's Wicked Warrens is the eighth and final release in the series of One Dollar Dungeons maps, which represent convenient starting locations or class-specific adventure locals for each traditional RPG character class. Warlock's Wicked Warrens is a large and detailed dungeon carved into a mountainside, featuring narrow corridors and massive rooms ripe for strategic combat! The structure is mapped out in typical 1 in. = 5 ft. map format.

Included for your convenience are several different formats including:

  • Full color map in a single JPG (versions with and without grid)
  • High contrast black and white map in a single JPG (great for printing on parchment textured paper)
  • PDF of the sliced images for your home printer, compatible with US Letter and A4 size paper

D20 Cartographer also supports virtual tabletop systems and includes:

  • 100 dpi gridless JPG with objects removed
  • An object file folder with over 35 new PNG objects for private reuse in other maps
  • A MapTools file with light, vision blocking, and objects set up for you. The MapTools file requires version 1.3b84 or higher to work.

Can't beat the value!

4/5

This map pack contains only one map. It depicts a cave with four inter-connected chambers. The walls are constructed, and the floor is paved with 5'-square flagstones. So, it's either a natural cave that was finished or a completely constructed locale. I'm inclined to guess the former, since it has no doors!

That wasn't the only design choice which I questioned. "I wouldn't put my workbench there. My back would be to THAT." However, all of my concerns disappeared when I opened up the folder of VTT (virtual table top) files. First, there's a map that has everything removed, including the pillars, the symbols on the floor, and even the torches and the light they cast. So, you can either use the "stock" dungeon, or you can spend a little extra time and set it up however you like. Plus, all those dungeon dressing objects can be reused on other maps. Seriously, there's a lot of stuff provided for just a dollar.

The image quality is very good. I zoomed in far enough that the squares were 1" across on my screen, and no pixelization is visible. The resolution on the objects does not appear to be quite as high, but it doesn't detract from the look of the map.

The things I didn't like were pretty minor. The stock positioning of the objects didn't really float my boat. If I needed to GM on short notice, I could use it, but I feel like the players would be a bit skeptical. I also would have enjoyed a larger dungeon instead of having about 1/3 of the map devoted to the area outside the entrance.

All in all, this product is a dollar well-spent.

Hi there, folks! I have been publishing maps for RPGs for the past seven months or so, and just got approved to start selling my products with Paizo! While my products have plenty of reviews on other sites, I'm starting with a blank slate here, so I'd love to hear what you guys think of my products!

This is just one of my eight "One Dollar Dungeon" products, which are themed locations for each of the base D&D character classes. Feel free to take a look at the rest of them on my product page, if you're so inclined.

My goal is to provide full-featured maps that are just as readily usable on paper as they are on VTT programs like MapTool. As such, I include the full .jpeg maps, easily-printed PDF files with the map sliced up over multiple pages, and even Maptool files with vision and object layers set up for you.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my work, and definitely leave a review or let me know what you think if you happen to download one!

Thanks,

D20 Cartographer (Joshua)
