Glad someone is making these finally - I can't believe the only way to get this out of WotC is through an RPGA promo. This would be their #1 seller imo if released under their Dungeon Tiles line.

Nope—they're regular cardstock.

If you put a sheet of clear plastic on top of them they are dry eraseable!

Or laminate them. Which also fixes the issue of them being thin and flimsy...or at least the first couple of packs were they seem to be thicker now.

I'll also note that I accidentally wrote on one with dry-erase marker and since it was fairly shortly after I'd written on it, I was able to rub it off with no lasting mark/damage to the map card.

I would be happy to pay extra--to an extent--if map-cards came pre-laminated, especially since I usually use them in conjunction with flip maps.

Just laminate them yourself. Wal MArt has a nice sized roll in the Kitchen section for covering your shelves at a decent price, and it goes a long ways.

Just be careful as you do it so you don't get too many air bubbles or creases. I hate the creases the most. Even then, depending on the crease, you can probably cut it out with an exacto knife or similar.

I know, me too! Just as I'm about to start running a campaign on the high seas....I find out that I have no map pack to use for it.

The surrounding border of the ships will match the texture of the Waterfront tavern EXACTLY. I'm working on the Pirate ship now!

Funny... just the other day I was thinking about how envious I'm for RPGA 4E DMs for their free bonus tiles (ships), and then Paizo announces this! :)

The water background is the same texture and tonal value of the Waterfront and Waterfront Tavern, so the boats will work nicely with them and on the flip-side. I'm excited to get my hands on this one next month.

I love combat on boats. It ramps up the difficulty level of run-of-the-mill encounters. Players have to really be careful where they move and what spells and abilities to employ.

I can't wait until this arrives next month!

Wish these had been out when I ran Savage Tide. =P

This is going to be a great repeat-use product.

Got these in the mail the other day. They are very nice. I can see getting alot of use out of these, you never know when you need a small boat, and if your player's get a "wild hair" and decide to get on a ship...

I like that you can build at least 3 large ships at the same time, which makes naval battles a lot easier too!

Do any of the tiles have a forecastle, so you can have raised decks in both the bow and stern of the ship?

Hey, I'm considering getting these for a pirate campaign, but I have one question. How do they work for ship to ship combat? In the previews it looks like they all have some amount of water tiles around them. If so, I'm not sure if they would be able to be set right beside each other for ship to ship combat and boarding. Is that possible with these tiles?

You could always just cut out the extra space around the ships. More work for you but easy enough.

Dont cut your map tiles, just copy on your home printer and cut those up instead.

Given that the larger boats mainly have fractional tiles around them, you could set up most pairings within 5 feet of one another.

Yes the 1" squares overlayed on the image are perfect for miniatures.

As Chris Lambertz gets time between working on new PDFs and stuff, she'll be going through the older Flip-Mat and Map Packs to make PDFs of them. But yeah, the new stuff has to come first.
