At the very fringe of the Imperium, in a backwater corner of the Spinward Marches, the Aramis subsector has been an undeveloped and often ignored part of Imperial society for generations. Recently, however, the alien vargr living just across the Imperial border have begun to acquire a taste for the subsector's exotic and excellent agricultural products, and increased trade is beginning to bring prosperity. Against this background, two major shipping lines are developing their holds on the trade routes and are now caught in a cutthroat competition for a monopoly on trade and cargo transport. Into this situation steps an intrepid band of Travellers, ready to embark on the quest of their lives!
