I think Shalelu on page 7 got a boob job since RotRL. :)

Reading over it now. I'm loving the idea of tying traits to the various NPCs, really builds up the buy-in.

...I just realized you guys put Shalelu/SARGE and romance rules in the same player's guide. A certain imageboard is going to have fits.

I was pretty apathetic to the Asia-themed AP idea at first, but as more came out I got mroe interested. Now I'm really excited about getting to play in this AP.

Yummy!

THIS is sooo cool! I was so sceptic about the AP, but boy, what can I say. I mean caravan statistics, feats for caravans, caravan combat, and so much more!

Ranger looking for employment!

Ruyan.

I like the Ameiko art much better than that from RotRL.

Ooooh, and I even forgot about the relationship part!

My only doubt is if I should go for Ameiko or Shalelu. Well, perhaps my character can be a cheating bastard, hehe.

Actually rather hope PCs aren't punished heavily in that area for not being able to invest in CHA, since some classes really can't afford to invest much in CHA.

Guess that's one of the problems with codifying RP. You wind up with barbarians, monks, and fighters unable to find love.

Just took a gander at the Map pack.

Love that you have the Players and GM versions both included. Nice trick with the code and it looks good.

That is not a problem with the game it's a problem with the players. Not being able to "afford" starting with 16 in strength as a fighter instead of 17 (giving you a couple of points for charisma) is just powergaming.

No powergaming, just the grim truth of how things tend to pan out for some classes.

1. Is 12 CHA going to really help that much?

2. 15 point buy is a harsh mistress when you're remotely MAD.

I'm going barbarian and I'm spread thin as it is trying to meet a certain theme. I'm most likely not going to be able to afford anything above an 11 in CHA.

And anyone playing a monk is going to have it worse.

Must be a new ranger spell in Ultimate Combat or something. "Distract Male Assailant."

Hey, I can build every possible single-class character with decent stats without having a single attribute under 10 ( although Monks are difficult ). If people want to min-max so badly that they make people who are unable to function socially, its on them. :)

But having a 10 in Charisma is totally okay! It means you are as charismatic as the next average guy. For me, social problems should begin when you got a negative value, i.e. under 10.

Just get a twelve in charisma and get either the "Charming" trait or "World traveler" (if you are human) and you are good to go, one less +1 to hit/dmg is not going to break your character.

I admit that a 15 pt buy is prohibitive though, we play with 20 and that gives you a little more room to manuever.

Plus that "paltry 12 CHA" beats the pants off of the 7 or 8 score that most barbarians and fighters invariably prefer. :)

I usually go for charismatic classes, mainly summoner and oracle, but in this AP I was planning to play a wizard or a wisdom-based eldritch godling. Although it seems I'll be DMing this one, so no romance for me anyway.

Silver Crusade

When I run this next year, I'm not going to require my players to use up their trait slot for the campaign if they don't want to. But if I read on and it does in fact make more sense, I'll give it to them as a freebie. Not like that'll be the only home-brewing going on. The rest, including the caravan rules, look fantastic! Can't wait to couple that with the vehicular combat.

Are you kidding me? As the GM you will get more romantic lovin' than any of the other players. You play all the NPCs, so you get to play hard to get and have romantic comedy fun at the expense of the players.

That's basically why I'm DMing this one, and not Legacy of Fire or Kingmaker. My group tends to roll dice more than roleplay, and I want to see if the relationship rules and a more NPC focused AP can encourage them to roleplay more.

Damn, this is one hell of a Player's Guide. Granted, the only two pathfinder PGs I've seen are for King Maker and Serpent's Skull, but I recon this is one of the better PGs they have put out so far.

I the horse train supposed to have a traveler capacity of 6? Seems like a typo and should be 0.

I think this is accurate. The idea is that people can ride the horses as well.

Heh, yeah, agreed there. I was just under the impression that there was a huge gap between average CHA characters and high CHA characters as far as these new rules went. Hopefully it'll matter less than deeds and RP in the long run. :)

I look forward to JBE taking the caravan system and running with it. ;-)

Tradefinder anyone?

Kingdoms, cities, encampments, caravans, all that's really missing are fortifications or castles. I'm all a squee. This is going to be such an awesome AP, even if I don't get a chance to run it. I so want to adapt the caravan rules to other settings.

This is why I really love Paizo's work. It isn't just enough for them to write some wicked awesome stories but they keep playing with game mechanics in the APs, experimenting and expanding the game in unexpected ways.

I'd dig out the stat blocks, but Green Ronin's 3rd Ed Testament sourcebook only covers Old Testament characters. :P It's an interesting book and I'm sure I'll find some use for it. I liked the ancient civilization material therein.

I too am excited about the caravan stuff.. especially mixing it with the new airship rules.

I also am really digging the new caravan rules.

The only thing that strikes me as odd are the horse trains. For the enhanced undercarriage, you have to upgrade every wagon to get the boost. Yet, for the horse train, you add a horse train to one wagon and your entire caravan gets the boost?

Weird.

One train means that the horses pulling the wagons can rest. This speeds up the whole caravan.

Say 8 horses pulling 2 wagons. 2 teams of four. With no train the horses pull all day and get tired and slow down reducing overall speed.

Add a horse train of even 2 horses and your overall speed will go up because you can change out horses from the train to the wagons as they get tired and let them rest by just walking for a bit

I like that they included it as a flat speed increase so we don't have to fiddle with actually changing out the horses.

This is exactly what I have been thinking ever since I learnt of the caravan system :) I hope we will see the same awesomeness as with the Book of the River Nations.

So did mine.

On windows 7 and using acrobat reader X, I can print all the page exept the first one. I get the following error: no pages selected for printing (or something like that).

When I try to print the first page using libreoffice 3.3, I can print the first page, but the women on the front page is missing.

I hope it will help the teckies on your side and have a nice day.
