Amazing

5/5

Okay now. So i have never written a review before, but I am a very, very, long time gamer, and a die hard Pathfinder fan.

I know not all products are perfect, and everyone seems to have an axe to grind over various things, however if the rest of this advventure path is anything even near as good as this then I will be in line to buy the whole thing.

Brilliant work, the relationship tree is useful no matter what other path you might follow. I would also say i love the introduction to the characters as well, exceptional detail and work.

Great job.

What??? They're giving this pdf away free???

5/5

Someone at Paizo has apparently gone insane. Besides tips on how characters might (or might not) fit in with the Jade Regent path, and the usual Campaign traits, James Jacobs and his crew have designed a set of rules for travelling caravans (in the sense in this case of overland merchant wanderers with wagons) and included them in this Jade Regent player's guide. And that means they're giving them away free when it comes to the pdf version...
This guide also establishes the framework for a friendship/rivalry system with regard to prominent NPCs (although the mechanics are left to be explained in actuall installments of the path), and sets up the possibility (if a group wants to dabble in such) for romances with NPCs.
Surely this one has to be up there as at least a possible future Ennie 'Honourable Mention'?

I also am really digging the new caravan rules.

The only thing that strikes me as odd are the horse trains. For the enhanced undercarriage, you have to upgrade every wagon to get the boost. Yet, for the horse train, you add a horse train to one wagon and your entire caravan gets the boost?

Weird.

One train means that the horses pulling the wagons can rest. This speeds up the whole caravan.

Say 8 horses pulling 2 wagons. 2 teams of four. With no train the horses pull all day and get tired and slow down reducing overall speed.

Add a horse train of even 2 horses and your overall speed will go up because you can change out horses from the train to the wagons as they get tired and let them rest by just walking for a bit

I like that they included it as a flat speed increase so we don't have to fiddle with actually changing out the horses.

That last bit I bolded. We tried to err on the side of simplicity.

On windows 7 and using acrobat reader X, I can print all the page exept the first one. I get the following error: no pages selected for printing (or something like that).

When I try to print the first page using libreoffice 3.3, I can print the first page, but the women on the front page is missing.

I hope it will help the teckies on your side and have a nice day.

I got the same thing. Widows 7 Home premium 64 bit. acrobat reader x. When I tryed to print out the whole thing I got "no pages selected for printing".

Then when I print out the first page, both NPC pics look like they mirror image.

Anyone out there at Paizo tried to print the cover page?

Hint: it doesn't work :)

I could not print it with Adobe Reader, so I ended up using an alternate viewer (Foxit Reader) to do it.

Hi all. Kudos on introducing new ideas to the game.

A question about the caravan rules. The description of a Hero caravan Job says:

Quote:

Only PCs can serve a caravan as a hero,

but doing so does not count as a job role—a PC can effectively
serve as a hero and any one other job.

Does this mean that a PC will serve as a hero AND another job at the same time?

Yes. That's exactly what it means.

The traits Caravan Guard and Student Survivalist both give a bonus to Survival and make it a class skill but give you a +1 and +2 bonus respectively. Plus Student Survivalist gives you +1 attack and damage vs foes that threaten Shalelu. Is this an error or intentional? Seems unbalanced, even against all the other traits in this book, most of which give you the +1 attack and damage.

It is discussed in this thread.

Any one know if a form fill-able caravan sheet has been done. If so where?

Contributor

No PDF form, but a fan put together a SuperAwesomeUseful Excel spreadsheet right here.

I saw that, looked really good. My problem is I have 6 players in the game so I had to do some tweeking of the original wagons to make sure they could move, and i have incorporated some third party rules that the Excel spreadsheet does not have.A form fill-able would just make it so I don't have to read some of my players chicken scratch writing.

Thanks for the help though.

Folks,

TOS Caravan is a new tool based on the Caravan rules presented in this Player's Guide.
It automates many aspects of the rules, so that you can focus on playing, and not adding numbers!

  • It can be used dynamically (on a laptop) or on paper.
  • It lists all the conditional bonuses, so you can quickly find which one to apply.
  • You can customize many aspects (wagons, feats, equipment...)
  • Has many adjustment boxes to tweak almost every aspect of your Caravan
  • Has NO macros to maximize spreadsheet compatibility

TOS Caravan also supports the excellent PDF Trade Routes: Expanded Caravan Rules Sourcebook by Louis Porter Jr.

If you wish to run this adventure path OR any other adventure using the Caravan rules, TOS Caravan will be a great tool for your gaming needs.

Check it out!
