He looks worn and figity but friendly enough.
Kayle, Ezreal looks like you went to the guards un-hindered. Post your actions please.
Ezreal, the Prodigal Explorer |
Walking to the guard house, Ezreal didnt stop talking for even a moment, running his mouth to Kayle. It was small talk mostly, about his favorite adventures and where he was from from. Approactiong their destination he finally relented.
...So thats Piltover in a nutshell really. Ah, here we are.
Striding towards the two guards he announced his presence to them.
Wonderful day we are having isnt it gentlemen? I was wondering if you might have a detailed map of the city me and my companion could look at? We are new here you see...
Then he continued, this time in a whisper to the two men.
Official League business, just play along and show us inside please.
Kayle Versade |
Kayle smiles as the smaller man chatters away. It was nice to have someone commence in the small talk from time to time. It had happened so rarely in the years of training that his own skills with it were almost minimal.
Aware that his armour was more than likely to attract attention, he was glad that they hadn't gone to the fortune tellers. He would not have helped anyone in a place where the inhabitants tended to prey upon the weakest and gullible of society, when subtlety appeared to be the name of the game. At least with other people who were armed and armoured he stood a chance of blending in.
Kayle Versade |
That's fine. We can wait. Would it be possible to ask for a jug of water or wine whilst we wait? It's pretty warm in this armour after all eh. Kayle gives the impression that he is more than willing to wait, simply because he is actually willing to wait. If the woman was already dead then there was no rush, and without knowing where she was, there was no rush as such beyond what they forced themselves into.
Ezreal, the Prodigal Explorer |
Ezreal frowned a bit at the two guards. Cant even make time for the League. Then he shrugged and looked at Kayle.
I guess I can wait an hour, although I hate to just sit around. Lets tour the market while we wait?
He started walking down the street, then he turned around with an excited look on his face.
Hey, with all this time on our hands, I cant tell you about that one time with the cave-in, oooooh and the time I got lost, oh thats a good one.
He turned to walk again, his mouth in constant motion.

I haven't spent any gold yet for character creation, just in starting outfit
[spoiler]as to the metagaming bit...
Washers' Row is a tangle of open-air washhouses, launderers, and wagons and tents-while the bulk of those who live and toil here do so in the laundry and tailoring industries, there are some who practice other trades, such as Rise.
That with the carnival bit, I just kind of assumed it was a fortune tellers tent, that's the cliche no? even booths tended to be tents with an open face to display wares. I was assuming it was a tent, and even if it wasn't we'd "be in a tent" for the sake of assumption.

Trundle |
Trundle stops himself from laughing and says "...Yeah, sure let's go with that. The wedding is next month, mark your calender. Unfortunately she has disappeared so we need to find her or its gonna be a very awkward. Her names Natalya Yancaskerkin, she hangs with the Sczarni." not actually expecting this guy to believe a word he just said.

Perhaps you can divine our purpose in coming, we have gold and names, we seek some information and were told you can probably provide it. We may even seek a telling when we're done with our real business

It does two things. Loosens tongues, and passes the time. In the training academies we were taught about the dangers of drink and therefore drink in moderation if the substance is alcoholic. On the other hand, this armour is pretty warm, even on the coolest of days, hence drinking often to make sure I am useful. Kayle smiles, those training days felt like they were a million years ago already.
A tavern sounds good, at the very least we can sit down and talk.

Kayle will smile. She seems interesting, now not to mess this up
We are looking for information about a friend of ours who has gone missing basically. We would like to find her and the people associated with her disappearance. I can happily pay for any information that you might have, or any rumours. Pay richly. Kayle will reach into a leather pouch as his side, and withdraw 20 thick gold coins before placing them in 4 columns before the barmaid.
Of course, there will be more if the information that you give me turns out to be correct and helps me find what I am looking for. Much more. I am sure that a beautiful woman such as yourself would hear much from the clientèle from such a place as this that might help. Those to imbibe liquor tend to have loose tongues after all.

looks irritated at the steep price
A good sword can often fetch that price, I've heard many a "secret" was valuable, but upon utterance was worth barely more than the cup of win that probably spawned it. Perhaps you could come down on your price?

You are looking on an a fairly well decorated room, a sturdy looking bed. Which considering its content, its sturdiness was an asset. What can only be described as a snoring mountain of a man is laid over the bed. The room strewn with various clothing and empty tankards.
Ezreal, the Prodigal Explorer |
Ezreal wrinkled his nose at the smell of the room. Not quite as foul as Trundle, but potent none the less. He looked at Kayle.
Judging by all the tankards in here, we got ourselves a drunkard on our hands. Maybe we should invite him downstairs for a pint, then bring up the matter once we are there?
He marched over to the giant man, lightly pressing a finger into his side. It got no responce.
Well, ill let you decide what to do, you are the talker, like Shyvana said. Just dont think on it for too long.
He grinned a devilish smile at Kayle, before poking the sleeping oaf with such force, his hand nearly dissapeared into the mans side.
Hey, you big oaf, get up!
Then he ran past Kayle, out of the room, standing at the doorway and peering inside.

His face turns bitter as he continues. "as long as only poor Varisians and other destitute folk are being targeted, the chances of the city doing anything about the disappearances is nil."
"theory is that the vanished folk are the victims of slavers who then secretly sell them offshore at night to Nidalese ships-but I don't put much stock in such rumors."
Kayle Versade |
That would be I. The tavern would like you to settle your bill and leave this place, taking yourself and your equipment with it. Apparently you have been intimidating their staff and they no longer wish to serve you. I have been asked to come along and help in this process. If you would be so kind of point out your bags, I will help you take them downstairs and then we can settle your bill. Kayle does everything he can to come across as reasonable and diplomatic in the situation, no weapons drawn and with a smile upon his face.
Shyvana the half dragon |
pauses to take it in and then says
Do you know where she was last seen? Any places she frequented? And the varisians have always been outcast vagabonds who will play the martyr at the drop of a hat. I won't argue that they are treated poorly, it's what you humans do best to each other. I can feel your pain though, my own kind have fairly well outcast me as well. I will try and look into the disappearances and see if the League can do anything to help, perhaps Trundle and I will take care of some of these issues ourselves.
looks to trundle with a raised eyebrow and a mischievous smile, Shyvana clearly is looking forward towards a good fight

"Natalaya's activities aren't known to me, she was until recently, a member of a Sczarni gang known as the Tower Girls, a group of cat burglars. They are themselves searching for Natalya, and word is that when they find her, she'll be in deep trouble. I don't know exactly what is going on with them but I've heard them say that Natalya went mad before her disappearance." He repeats his information to ensure he hasn't missed anything. the man may charge for what he knows, but when paid he doesn't hold back. He is a man of little principle but what he has he holds to. "Last I heard the Sczarni where down by the docks. A fellow named Fenster the Blight was sharing his warehouse with them. That's your lot."
Kayle Versade |
Well then if you won't come quietly, then fair enough. I guess in that case I have no option but to buy you a drink downstairs. I don't have a quarrel with you, and don't really want to get the town guard involved. Like I say, the bar staff here asked me to give you a hand with your bags, and so I came up to do exactly that. I am nothing more than a porter really. What do you say buddy? Fancy a keg on me? Trying to sound reasonable and placate the guy. Kayle will not really want to be trying to start a fight here.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Little Finder |
Nice role playing and rolling. He is no longer angry and the mention of the work Keg cheered him up. But you are both still strangers and did mention that he was getting kicked out so he doesn't trust you completely.
Are you both headed to find Kayle and Ezreal?
Kayle Versade |
Kayle laughs heartily. Sir, I have a feeling that if you wanted to kill me, then you would be able to do so before I could so much as draw my sword. Why would I cause a fight where one is not needed? I promised you a keg, so please, let me buy you that much whilst we work out your arrangements eh? The man troubled him, and he wasn't used to acting in such a manner, he was trying to get the man out with the minimum of fuss.
Heading downstairs, he mouths to Ezreal tp Grab the bags as best you can, meet me in the bar before heading down. Gold coins jingling slightly in his belt pouches.
Ezreal, the Prodigal Explorer |
As Kayle left with his new "friend", Ezreal quickly tagged him with a Message spell. When they were far enough down the hall that his whisper couldnt be overheard by the large man he whispered.
Hey, you are the one with the muscles, im not some bell boy damn it! But yeah ill get right on it, blah.
Turning to the bags, he wondered how he was supposed to get something that weighed more than himself down the stairs.
Little Finder |
You remember that Kayle and Ezreal had mentioned about going to the Arvensoar to speak to the City Watch. The tower itself was not hard to miss and finding your way there is easy.
The bright weather and smiles of those you pass make the walk all the more pleasant.
The barmaid throws you a confused and worried look as you enter the bar. "I asked you to get him to leave. Not invite him to get drunk. What is your plan here?"
Ezreal, you find it easy to find his stuff, as it is almost all on the floor. Moving the heaving bag is very difficult but you find creative ways of getting it downstairs.
Kayle Versade |
Kayle speaks quietly to the barmaid. The offer of booze was the only way that the man would not be belligerent and I could get him out of the room and not have him destroy someone or something. I will buy the man the keg that I have promised him, and then see what I can do to move him out of the tavern altogether with his belongings. If needed, then I will use force. The man is a coward and a bully, and I know roughly how to deal with such men. I do not like the path of violence, but will not shy away from it if needs be. I gave you my word, and I intend to keep it.
Turning back to the man, he prepares for the task ahead.
Ezreal, the Prodigal Explorer |
Trundle you bastard -.-
The sounds of the tavern are interupted as Ezreal can be heard howling in surprise at the top of the stair. Wha! aaaah, nonononoooo! The sound of something heavy falling down the stairs follows, punctuated by Ezreal crying out in pain. Aaah...uuh...iiih....aaah
A large bag of luggage comes crashing to a halt at the base of the stair, followed by Ezreal practically bouncing through the air before landing on top of it. Oblivious to the people in the bar room, he springs to his feet and kicks the bag repeatedly.
Take that! And that! And this! You stupid bag!
Trying his best to ignore the looks, he straightens his goggles and smooths down his jacket before walking up to stand next to Kayle, pouting and fuming.
Little Finder |
The mountain of a man looks as his bag is flung down the stairs. A deep growl emanates form his mouth. It quickly turns int to roaring laugh when he see's Ezreal fall down after it. "Nice try little man, that bag as done damage to more people than I have." When he laughs he almost comes across as a reasonable man.
