Struggling writer Lodge (Nathan Rice) isn’t asking for much: he wants his gaming group to finish playtesting his table-top adventure, rather than killing, looting, and debauching his fantasy world. Desperate to save the integrity of his story from the whims of his players’ crazy characters—a horny bard, wild sorceress, and cryptic monk—Lodge allows Joanna (Carol Roscoe), Cass’s (Brian Lewis) ex-girlfriend, to join the game.

With Joanna’s help, the group’s characters trek deep into the fantasy game world to retrieve the Mask of Death from the evil necromancer Mort Kemnon (Geoff Gibbs). Will their choices in the game save their friendships in real life . . . or will Mort Kemnon triumph unopposed?

MUST HAVE!!! Plus Jen Page is hot :)

You know if anyone wanted to get this for as an early birthday present I wouldn't.

After watching a few clips on youtube, this DVD is now on its way to my mail box. Its hilarious how the capture various aspects of our game!

Hi there - may have missed this, but is it region specific (i..e Region 1 only?). The reason I ask, being in the UK, I need Region 2 or universal. Apologies if this is already mentioned somewhere and I missed it...

That said, I may just get it anyway - is a wonderfully funny story. It got to the stage where we quote from this just as badly as Monty Python ("Hide behind the pile of dead bards!").

Cheers

Hi Aiddar,

The DVD is NTSC Region 0, ie, Region Free. So you should be good to go!

Hope you enjoy!

Does this one have the "Family Friendly Viewing Option", like the first one? (Or does it even need it? I haven't seen this one yet, so I don't know how much "colorful language" there is in it.)

My wife and I would like to show these to her dad, but she's sure that some of the language in the first one would ruin it for him, so we're glad that has the "FF Option"...

I'm very curious what the d20 subtitles are like.

Arazyr,

There isn't any "colorful language" in Dorkness Rising (where there was in the original Gamers movie); as in, no swearing beyond a possible "damn". Thus, no family friendly version is necessary! Feel free to enjoy!

As a heads up, be aware that the drinking game commentary track has "colorful language". We have a warning on the DVD for it as well... But for the movie, you should be all set! :)

Cheers,

wow, i thought the original was easily more enjoyable. i only liked one character (the woman with the spear), the writing wasn't as good as in the original, and the comedic timing seemed off. i struggled to finish watching it.

I'm with Dark Mistress on this one. A very funny film.

The d20 subtitles are hilarious. Basically it adds rules information for everything that happens on the screen. Characters moving down a hallway may warrant a move silent: 18. Character interaction may show a sense motive or bluff roll.

Also there is a drinking game for the movie. Dorkness Rising Drinking Game Video

I find both to be very funny but in different ways. If I watch the first one though I usually do it on my computer. The panoramic shots from the first movie look terrible on a large high-end TV screen (well, they do on mine anyway).
