Very Difficult to Read - Very Easy to Fix!

***( )( )

I first bought these for our Kingmaker campaign, when they were first available. They were hard to read and also tended to collect "dice lice" (tiny debris that would to stick to the silver "ink").

The solution was to simply soak the dice in alcohol, then with an old toothbrush, just brush off the silver "ink".

Finish any additional cleaning with a toothpick or craft knife, some un-removed plastic may also be found now and easily removed.

Your now olive-drab dice can be used as is or filled in with a polymer clay and baked for a few minutes!

I did one set a pearly white and another a lime green, both VERY easy to read now and MUCH better looking!

2-Stars for the original dice and 4-Stars for the "re-inked" dice!

Now I wonder if this can be done with their other dice sets?

Disappointing

**( )( )( )

The biggest disappointment in the Pathfinder dice series (made worse by the long wait for them). I like the shade of green used for the die, but the silver is flat making the numbers hard to read. The leaf patterns are excellent and evocative of the AP, but they make the numbers even more difficult to pick out. This set might have worked if the same bright silver from the Second Darkness set had been used. As is, they are too difficult to read and were placed in my "retired" collection a mere week after I bought them.

Not functional, but nice looking

**( )( )( )

I bought these to use with my Kingmaker campaign. A very beatiful set of dice. Just one problem, you can't read them. If you want to slow down your game to lift each roll and examine it closely (to simply read the number(s)) - then by all means - this product is for you.

Pleasant, in the right light.

***( )( )

I received my set of these in time for my most recent gaming session. I have to say they are quite beautiful. I like the color combo and the flowing script that the silver helps bring out in the etching.

Now for the not so awesome. The picture there makes these dice rather easy to read, that must have been taken under some high power lighting, or a flash (or both). My session started when we still had some sun shining in the widow. And while that additional light was present I was commended on my excellent choice of pretty dice for this week. Problem is as the sun dropped below the horizon and we were forced to use conventional lighting (My game room has only one light in the ceiling, that uses two lower wattage bulbs.) they became rather difficult to read. My rating would be 4 would it not be for the fact that they became annoying enough to read that I grab a clearer pair. For those of you with super blinding light these would be perfect. For those of you with lower wattage lighting like myself and my group, well get ready to squint and reach across the table to read the numbers.

When will these be released?

I've been waiting a year; did these go from pre-order to non-existant?

So based on the Legacy of Fire dice set, expect Kingmaker dice to debut at Gen Con 2011 then be available for purchase sometime in 2012.

Hey, that means that the not-yet-announced CoT set will appear in 2015 :)

Dark Archive

I am still hoping eventually they get caught up and can have the dice come out the same month or the month before each new AP comes out. Would be nice to have the dice in time for the first game.

I just want to see a picture of the dice before I buy/preorder is all.

me wants!

The new lower prices on all the sets is awesome. $12 versus $18.

A little hint, you won't be able to read them and you will be hated by all your GMs!

Yep - I'll add it to the shopping cart, but will NOT purchase until I can see what I'm getting. :)

Actually I have the four sets out right now and I have no problem reading them. And we tend to go with the honor system. It bites us in the ass sometimes with some cheaters. Not that we aren't crammed so close together that we can all read each others dice anyway...

But anyway, defiantly looking forward to these, and second the wish that they'd come out closer to the release of the AP.

Ok.. it is more accurate to say... I can't read them and I hate players who use them in my game..

I have a general ban on Q-Workshop dice in my games.

Do you only use dice with braille? Or by "can't read them" do you mean "they are more difficult to read than other, plain font-ed dice"?

I guess Council of Thieves for now got skipped. Any word on what the next set might be? Would be nice if it was Carrion Crown or Jade. I still hope they eventually get caught up and can make these in time for the AP they are for. Plus fill in all the back ones.

They skipped Carrion Crown in order to get caught up more quickly, although the Kingmaker dice still took longer than anybody expected.

We also share your hopes.

The dice look nice although i was hoping for a black and green color scheme. I do agree that the Carrion Crown would look really nice as the next set with maybe a purple and black arrangement. One concern might be whether the Jade Reagent set will be green as well making it possibly 2 green sets in a row. The imagery is very nice though for the Kingmaker set!! Thank you for making this set available, expect my order in the coming weeks!!

Sweet. I look forward to buying these at Gen Con in a few months.

Any news on when we might see these?

Also really a 1 star review on a product that is not out yet?

Is there a way to flag reviews like with posts? I figure I may just not be seeing it.

Dark Archive

Not that I know of, which I why I just make a forum post about it and hope eventually someone at Paizo see's the post.

Maybe if we flag a post that points it out?

I'm going to flag yours and see if that works.

For those looking for dice for Carrion Crown the same company does dice for Cthulhu that would fit. If your willing to spend a bit more cash they even do glow in the dark ones.

Darn! Green is among my least liked colors.

Yeah—that's not appropriate. I've removed the rating.

Ok maybe I am getting my hopes up, but i just noticed the dice are in the current subscription group on my subscription page. Does that mean they are really going to be shipping out then? Or they just always do that until they do ship. I don't remember seeing them earlier in the month with the first order.

When you add preorders to your sidecart, they're always tentatively in the next shipment. If the preordered item hasn't been released by the time we go to ship the sub, the preorder just gets bumped to the next sidecart. So no, its presence in your sidecart doesn't indicate anything. We still have no idea when we'll get these from Poland.

Oh well kinda what I thought but I had hopes it meant they would show up.

Dark Archive

Hey these are no longer showing as preorder, does that mean they are in stock and will go out with the next shipment?

Contributor

I'll have to double-check on Monday, but I do believe that is what it means, yes. :D

Dark Archive

Hmm I just DLed the 2011-12 Paizo catalog and it lists Council of Thieves dice set. Is that going to be the next dice set or was that a snafu? Just curious.

When is the next lot of pathfinder dice coming?

Squeeeeeee!
How did they pass me by unnoticed!? Now the paper minis gobbos have to speed up and it'll be Christmas, Easter and my birthday all in one!

I've been working with Q-workshop on our dice sets and so far I've seen prototypes for both Serpent's Skull and Carrion Crown but nothing from Council of Thieves. I believe that Serpent's Skull will be the next release but no promises. Hang in there and I'll post when I know more!

Cool looking forward to them Please tell me the Carrion Crown dice look like the inside covers of the book look. That would be wicked cool.

Sorry, should have quoted what I was referring to – I meant, is there any news on the missing set (Council of Thieves) and when the next one (after Carrion Crown) is coming out? Any chance of them catching up any time soon?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

As long as they're only choosing to do two per year, catching up is not in the cards; we'll be telling them "we think you should do this one."

And are you telling them to do the earliest missing ones, or to do the current ones and fill the holes later, if at all? ;)

And do you think there's any chance they *will* decide to up the output to catch up …?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

We tried to get them going on an upcoming AP and then a popular past one, but by the time the "upcoming" one came out, it was already a past one. Now we just suggest ones we think will sell best regardless of release date.

The Reign of Winter AP seems like it would make an awesome set. I have also been eying this set for quite some time now...

Sure. Ivory/snow white for the dice with silver engraving for snowflakes and the numbers.

I'd buy them, but never use them (like these).
