Eclipse Phase is an RPG set in Earth's far distant future, when humanity has achieved immortality by abandoning the need for physical bodies and transforming brain patterns into digital information. As a result, characters can change their bodies at will and always have a "backup copy" ready to deploy in case of "death." The game uses a percentile system and has no set classes, allowing customization based on skills, including psionic abilities.

The setting was completely new to me and I fell in love with it immediately. Playing in a transhumanist world very different from ours is challenging but according to our first test run, an immense source of inspiration.

The rules are simple and work well, although some of them leave a bit too much room for interpretation for my liking.

The editing of the book, though, was incomplete and there was a notable amount of typos, incomplete sentences and unclear rules (damage bonus, for instance). This drops the rating from five stars to four.

Finally, I liked the artwork a lot. It kept in line with the overall atmosphere of the book and there was a lot of it. I'm really looking forward to running a campaign with this.
