An adventure for levels 6–8
Like all One Night Stand adventures, Warren of the Death Spider contains everything you'll need for an evening of fun using the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.
You've never seen anything like it! The whole forest—every tree and every rock—completely covered in spider webs! They even wove them from tree to tree, so you can't see the sun or the sky. It's the damnedest thing I've ever seen!
The whole place is silent, too-quiet as the grave. Not a bird or cricket chirping. Not a howl from a far off wolf. It's like another world entirely.
You start to wonder how many spiders it takes to spin that many webs? Then you realize that the answer depends a lot on how big the spiders are. And the whole place seems that much smaller, like the webbed walls are closing in on you.
I knew that place was trouble, but I had no idea how much. They took our children. Swallowed them up like they were never there. And they'll be coming for us next!
Inside you will find:
Adventure: The following pages detail the background and action that constitute the adventure itself. Stat blocks are included for new monsters, but you will want to have the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary at hand for detailed references.
GM Map: With the adventure is a single-sheet version of the map bearing notations for the GM's use. Marked on the map are room numbers, the monster and NPC starting positions for each encounter, and areas of difficult or noticeably different terrain.
Map Tiles: Following the GM Map are a collection of map tiles that, when cut out and assembled, create a battlemat with a one-inch square grid.
Standees: After the map tiles are a collection of cut-and-tape standees representing all the creatures and monsters in this adventure. Together with these are enlarged versions of the encounter areas and summaries of the action that takes place in each.

Also, this was our release last week but some problems with the uploader caused it to be delayed until today. We'll have another product later in the week, another free web enhancement.
A little background info ... although this is the fourth One Night Stand adventure we've published, it was the very first Super Genius Games product that Hyrum and I ever discussed back in '07. (Yeah, we spent a good amount of time planning before we actually took the plunge and launched the company.)
Back then, we thought it was going to be a 4E adventure ... but a lot of things changed. Most notably, we decided that supporting 4E was not going to be our business model ... AND the fact that we signed a license with Chaosium to produce Call of Cthulhu products.
For a long time, it looked like The Warren of the Death Spider would just be a phantom product ... one we'd thought about and planned through, but would never see the light of day. I'm glad that turned out not to be the case.
Just so you know, this was supposed to be the first of a SERIES of adventures that would explore and develop the lands in and around the hamlet of Villago. There were at least five other related products that we had in one or another phase of development for what we at that point called the Valley of Roughwater series. I can only hope that reaction is to this one is good enough that we can bring those out sooner or later.
Dear Super Geniuses, thanks for the One-Night Stand. :)
Sorry, I couldn't resist. (Anymore than I could resist adding this and the Frost Giant one to my downloads).
Although the Frost Giant one would go along very well for what I have in store for my Monday night group, I'm planning on keeping these "just in case" I need some excellent fill-in adventures during Kingmaker. They both sound "region" appropriate for the Greenbelt/Stolen Lands area. (Although I think Iobaria would be better for the Frost Giant adventure).
Our hope is that the One Night Stand adventures CAN be slotted into nearly any campaign.
The "Roughwater Valley" was going to be a mix of interesting specifics and sweeping generalizations ... so those who cared could feel that we were unveiling a viable campaign setting ... and those who didn't could use the adventures without having to make any significant modifications. Replace the proper nouns and it could be anywhere from Golarian to Greyhawk to Faerun to Krynn to whatever world the GM has constructed for his home games. The adventures are all very location-based, and the locations are the kinds of places one is likely to run into in MOST FRPG settings.
Anyway, I'm glad you can see ways the material will be useful for you.
Please stop back and let us know how things go when you do get around to running them.
I really like this series of modules and have brought most of them. I have one minor criticism of the map tiles. I do a lot of gaming on Virtual tabletops so the quality and format of the maps is very important to me.The top row of all the map tiles contains half squares which makes it difficult to import into my virtual table top. The map tiles in the Goblin module are not like this and contain only full squares. It would be great if you do this for any future modules. You could then advertise/promote them as suitable for online gaming.

Thanks for the feedback! We haven't previously heard of this being an issue for anyone, so we were totally unaware it could be a problem. I can't promise there will be an immediate change, but now that you've mentioned it we'll definitely take a look at that question for future products.
I strongly suspect that easy virtual tabletop support is going to be a growing concern over the next few years.
Just wondering - did I miss something or are there any pre-generated PCs for this module? If not, any plans to make that an additional download? I feel that a one-night-stand would be even better with an option to save the GM some time with pre-gen PCs.
Got a question that I may have to e-mail to Owen later.
Was going through this one-night stand, and it talks about the ettercap cleric. What are the stats for that guy? I can figure on my own that the regular ones are normal, but what about the cleric? Does he have two levels? Three? Maybe just one? Is his INT higher because he's advanced?
Here are the stats for the cleric. I'll make sure they get added to the file and an update sent out.

Much appreciate the quick reply. Let me know when the update comes out so I can get the newest download (got it from DriveTHRU).
EDIT: I just realized something. The cleric has Bleed twice for an at-will spell. Might want to change that to something else. Detect Magic is always a good one to have. He's also missing the ettercap's two claw attacks.
EDIT 2: As well, the cleric ettercap has nonhumanoid +2 mithral breastplate. The value of that makes him on par with a PC of that level for treasure. This means that his CR is actually 5, not 4. +2 mithral breastplate, for a nonhumanoid, costs double for materials, and another 4000 to give it a +2 enhancement.
I can't seem to edit my own post so I'll make another one.
I know the listed ettercap isn't gospel for what we should be using, but rather an idea of what we should use. Already there's an errata. I'll list what I see (some already in my previous post):
- Cleric has Bleed twice as an at-will spell. Maybe replace it with Detect Magic, or some other viable 0th level spell.
- Missing the ettercap's two claw attacks.
- Combat Gear is nonhumanoid +2 mithral breastplate. That's very expensive. This makes the cleric +1 CR, making it CR 5.
- The skills are, wow. A cleric gets 2+INT each level. It has INT 6. This means it would only get 2 skill points in total, but his current skills definitely make you think otherwise. Maybe a rank in Knowledge (religion) for +2 total (1 rank + 3 trained - 2 INT = +2 skill check).
- Editing needs to be done on the explanation of what each ability does. At current "this empathic communication imparts on them a modicum of impl" and "Rules for cr" have been found.
I was going to run this as a side adventure for the weekend but I've noticed you have several tiles with 12 squares per page, which makes them smaller then the 1" standard and forces the entire set to be printed "fit to page" on most printers instead of "full size" reducing the square size even smaller.
Also, since it looks like squares are different sizes on different pages I suspect none of the tiles would fit together.
Fortunately I caught the problem before burning through a pile of cardstock and ink.
Also, despite 2 seperate assurances from SGG this has still not been updated with Ettercap Cleric Stats from October of 2011.
After the first One Night Stand I ran I am disapointed in these issues and feel this should be removed from the market until the issues are fixed.
