Sweet! Amazon just sent me an update that the condition cards will be available on July 14th! Looks like I'm about to make my first direct from paizo purchase.

Cool deck. The Goblins are funny and I really like how a lot of the 'stepped' conditions are on the flip side of each-other.

I do have one complaint (with the Cards line in general), the packaging. The dang cardboard tab that sticks up at the back of the box makes it hard to open a deck without tearing the box. I assume it's a cost savings over the old box wrapped in plastic, but the 'traditional' card box is so much more easy to not damage.

Actually it is rather easy to open the boxes. The trick is to fold the tab at the top on to the back of the card box. By doing this what then happens is it reveals enough of the top opening cardboard to get at it and easily open it then with no tearing on the box and preserving it quite nicely.

Not entirely. 1) Bending is still 'damaging' or perhaps more accurately, 'changing the condition of' the box. This is just one of those things I'm a little OCD about. (Aside: On the rare occasion that I sell old video games, I frequently hear things like, "I've never seen used games come into the store in this condition, they're like new". I've even been told, "These are actually worth more than we are allowed to give you".)

2) I tried what you're talking about anyway, since a bend is slightly more tolerable than a tear... I still got a very very slight tear where the doubled over tab runs slightly into the box. It is much easier to open now, and I don't think it will tear more, which is a problem I was having before. So thanks, it helps a little, but I'd still rather see the tabs go away.

Just buy one of those plastic card holder thingies that Magic players use? Quite strong, and easy to carry/throw around :)

It's not a cost issue—it's that retailers need a way to hang these on pegs, and those plastic J-hooks that you have to use when you don't have a built-in hang tab really don't work all that well.

That's a great point for sales, but I'll tell ya I own the Friends & Foes Deck, Crtical Hit and Critical Fumble Decks and all three have scarring and tearing from trying to open them without damaging the hang tab (and failing miserably).

Isn't it possible to use those plastic adhesive hang tabs that you see on other decks of cards that hang in retail stores (like Bicycle Playing Cards)? They stick to the plastic shrink wrap on the outside. Or would that cost be too great?

I figured there wasn't much chance that you'd go back to them. Just wanted to voice my opinion since it's been bugging me for a long time.

I just cut the tabs off, as close to the box end as I can get.

I'm not reselling the pack, nor do I need to hang it up, so I'd rather cut off the tab, and have decks that are easily stored, than leave a tab on, that catches on things/bends/tears.

I love the Goblin art and the pure convenience of them.
Anyway I picked up 2 packs at the LGS like I always do, one for the table and one is reserve in case any of he cards get damaged, misplaced or lost.

We changed printers a while back, and even though we gave the new printer the same spec as the old printer, their card stock at the same thickness *felt* thinner, so we bumped it up until we thought it felt the same as the old stock. But that was a couple of sets ago.

9 pocket sheets sound like a good idea for some types of the cards (items, face cards.) A box is still the best for things you are going to shuffle though (plot twists, critical hit.)

Good point. I don't use those kind of decks (I run a pretty straight up campaign, and the plot twist cards strain the suspension of disbelief too much for me - they have an almost 4e feel for me).

I found that gently lifting the top of the box with the flat of a letter opener's blade (or a knife if you don't have that, but a knife cuts, so be careful) will open the box without damage.

Of course, if people don't know already how careful you are with your items, they'll ask questions…

Admittedly I hadnt picked up a card set since Enemies I think. I was a little less that impressed with the quality of those cards so they put me off them for a while. BUt I had to give the condition cards a shot and I'm glad they did. I went back and pulled a couple of the Enemies cards for my session this past Saturday and they were pretty thick but felt weirdly inconsistent from card to card.

Still, the Condition Cards are pretty nice, it was an all roleplay session last week so I didnt get to use them at all. Next session maybe...

Would love to see this as well. Perhaps cards with summoned monster stats on one side and a cool pic of the monster and one of the eponimous goblins, either in trouble or in cahoots with the monster.

This is of course because the gobbos are so well done , but also because we use summoned monsters quite a lot. In fact the only reason we don't use summoned monsters is usually because of the hassle of finding their stats.

If I placed my order for these today(which I just did) whats the probability of me getting these in time for game on Friday if I selected the 2-5 day shipping method and live in Chicago. I'd be really nice to have them by then...lots of new players starting and it would be nice to have cards that explain the conditions I'm sure will be inflected on them.

Yes, I would recommend a plastic/metal card box. I also casually play Magic and store my decks in these. Many gaming stores have deck boxes and they usually have really awesome art as well! They're small and will easily hold multiple of the GM decks.

If I placed my order for these today(which I just did) whats the probability of me getting these in time for game on Friday if I selected the 2-5 day shipping method and live in Chicago. I'd be really nice to have them by then...lots of new players starting and it would be nice to have cards that explain the conditions I'm sure will be inflected on them.

I probably wouldn't put money on it, but I also would not be overly surprised if it made it in time.

Seconded! My group currently has a ton of hand-scribbled tent cards for all the buffs and debuffs flying around in every combat (12th level game currently). I picked up the Condition Cards this past weekend and the players love 'em, but we still need something presentable for all those Bless/Prayer/Haste spells that always go up. This idea of stackable cards that put buffs and debuffs in the same format is very cool, and I heartily endorse it!

I LOVE these. Goblins, nice colors, and layout such that you get the meat of the condition without having to dig around in the CR. I can hand these to my players and I know that they'll only need a few seconds to get the gist of things, rather than several minutes to figure it out. Disclaimer: we're all new at playing Pathfinder, so any leg up speedwise helps everyone.

In fact, I liked 'em so much I revised my own set of Condition Markers to match them. If you need a set of .pdf battlemap condition markers for those moments when you hand these cards to your players, feel free to have at 'em, available in this thread:

Got my set from Amazon yesterday, and I wanted to chime in about how pleased I am with them. I've not tried them yet with my group, but as we're still learning the system, its just one less thing we need to drag out the tome to look up.

One suggestion though, for a version 2.0, would be a way of figuring out what was on the other side of the card. I realize that for the most part they're stepped up/related conditions, but from a stand point of handing them out to the players, it would cut down on the time needed to find a given condition.

In my case, I've put small labels on the corner of each card with the name of the condition on the other side of the card. Sadly it makes the deck a little lopsided, but it's something I can live with if it means I don't have to keep flipping cards.

If you've ever seen the card-game version of Scrabble called Scrabble Slam, you'll get an idea of what I mean.

What I've done with the cards is sort them so that there are 2 of each card facing each way in the pile. Makes it easier to sort through them.

I usually have a thin 3 ring binder for my notes, maps and anything else special I print out. Since I have gotten the cards I have added three of the 9 slot card page protectors. That gives me 27 slots which works great as there are 26 conditions. I put the conditions in the slots alphabetically paired up. The last slot I put in the remaining cards that came with it.

Just noticed a typo? on the Fatigued card that states you can only move half your speed while Fatigued.

I was under the impression that this only applied to the Exhausted Condition.

Love these, though I think you missed on of the most important conditions to track... Poisoned! That would've been a helpful card. Poisoned characters always forget to make their saves each round.

Hard to list the penalties on poisoned since it is different for each kind of poison.

Maybe they'll eventually bring out Condition Cards--Poisons and they'll just be a bunch of different poisons from the game. Seems like a very specialized deck though.

Does Paizo plan to do a PDF or something so people can fix this with put it looking like crap with a hand written piece of paper?

Most board game companies would do something like this.

If we reprint these, we will be sure to correct the Fatigued error.

Just came to order these and they're gone... That's what I get for waiting. Hopefully they'll reprint again at some point, this + buff cards makes for a killer combo.

Thanks. You might consider reviewing the Confused card as well. It reads, "You treat all creatures as neither allies nor enemies." This is inconsistent with the PRD, which indicates that you treat all creatures as enemies.

You could also post something on the errata page. One of my Pathfinder groups almost experienced a TPK yesterday because of the error on the Fatigued card.
