Great mini with some flaws

***( )( )

The quality of the sculpting here is really fine, but some things about this mini bother me enough that I wanted to review it as only average.

1) the pose. Its a perfect reflection of the original illustration, but it suffers a lot if you want to, say, make a unit of these fighters to use in a game. They all stand there with their shield held loosely in hand?

2) the armor became unbelievable in transition to mini form. The illustration has a bit of this issue where the metal thigh armor seems skin tight, but the way the miniature accentuates this and misaligns the way the legs intersect with the groin looks incredibly uncomfortable as any kind of actual armor.

I'd like to see a resculpt of this in a more dynamic pose. I hope Paizo won't be quite so tied to mimicing original art as compared to how a player (or GM) would want the piece to appear on a battlemat.

Great!

*****

A really nice mini.Tons of armor detail makes this very tricky to paint. It turns out really nice if you do a good job.

I liked this one so much I intend to get a second one.

I've added a photo of the green (that is, the original sculpt) for this miniature.

Silver Crusade

Liberty's Edge

EDIT:

I know it has been mentioned before and not possible at the time...

Oh well I am still dreaming.....

My response to all these new minis. I've got to join some painting class with my daughter.

I really hope that the Gray Maidens lived on some how after the adventure path, they seem too cool to let just vanish off in the wind.

Agreed.

Spoiler:
There could always being a surviving warrior cult dedicated to Illeosa acting underground in Korvosa or elsewhere!

In my campaign it's looking like most of them will be spending most of their lives in an asylum, though, if my players have their way.

I was curious myself, and shocked to discover that they don't show up in a search on the Pathfinder Wiki...

CotCT spoiler:
They're from Curse of the Crimson Throne. Scary brainwashed fanatical warrior-maidens in service of the queen.

things that only show up in adventures are more or less the last things added to the wiki... many of the contributors are either players or DMs, most of the time they will read the adventures last, not to spoil it for themselves. This causes Items found only in the adventure paths to get the last write-up. Of course the wiki is also edit-able by anyone... so if someone wants to make a gray maiden entry article feel free!

You could always roll them into the Hellknights as some sort of ELITE women-only unit. I'm certain they're lawful, most military units are due to rigorous training and daily beatings, despite possibly being lead by a chaotic individual.

EDIT: Oh yea, almost forgot... NICE LOOKING MINI! :)

Scarab Sages

You could also use this as Seelah miniature. It does resemble her armor
