The Combat Pad initiative tracker is the ultimate tool for managing combat in your favorite roleplaying game. It is a wet- and dry-erasable board with a steel core, so the included magnets stick right to it! It is portable—about the size of a sheet of paper—so you can take it anywhere you're gaming.
Use it to quickly and easily track turns. Write the PC's, enemies', and friendly NPC's names on the player magnets using a wet- or dry-erase marker, then place them in initiative order. Use the blue magnets for PCs, black magnets for enemies, and green magnets for NPCs. Hash marks label positions 0–35, making it easy to put the magnets in the correct initiative order. When the order changes, simply slide the magnets to their new places.
The turn indicator magnet points to whose turn it is; never accidentally skip someone again! As the round progresses, slide the turn indicator to point to the next player; it's now that player's turn. At the end of the round, the turn indicator will point to the next round magnet.
The next round magnet serves as a reminder to move the round indicator magnet. The round indicator points to the current round number, so you'll always know exactly which round it is! Write which round spells and effects expire in the notes section of the Combat Pad (e.g. "haste ends round 10"). Additionally, the notes section is a great place to record damage or anything else necessary to make combat run smoothly.
For tactical groups, delaying and readying guides make it simple to synchronize attacks—enemies beware! Slide the player magnet to the proper guide and avoid the confusion common with other initiative tracking methods.
Hi, this Ryan Thomas from Open Mind Games, designers of the Combat Pad. I'm hearing a lot of interest in a Combat Pad app for the iPad. I'm working on making this happen! Is there any particular features you'd like the see in the app?
-Perhaps some sort of "save" feature. For people that play multiple games, that would be great.
- A history, or undo/redo feature might clear up confusion from an accidental adjustment.
-importing PC and creature info from a tad delineated, or TXT file would be a time saver..
I would definitely buy a Combat iPad. Some things that might be interesting to add:
- hit point tracking
- condition tracking
- maybe some way to track buffs? Even if they're not all programmed into the app, it would be nice to be able to say that haste is up for the next 6 rounds, that sort of thing. If you were able to get all of the actual content in, that would be awesome (ie. if I select haste and bless, it could have a "buffs" side column with an aggregate total bonus for the party like +2 to hit, +1 to AC, +1 reflex saves, etc.). Probably a big ask, but it would be so dreamy.
Here are a list of things it needs to have in my opinion:
1) Ability to track initiative
2) Ability to track delayed and readied actions
3) Tracking of hit points
4) Tracking of conditions and buffs (all of them)
5) Tracking spell effects and duration
6) Ability to import a monster
7) Ability to import a monster from programs such as Herolab
8) Ability to track saves such as poisoned saves and on fire saves.
9) Ability to save combats.
10) Ability to save different parties as someone mentioned earlier. I have two games I'm running.

There you go - that's a start.
This is basically coming with Hero Labs! :)
They are working on it.. slowly granted but working on it :)

Whoever does it best gets the cookie! And by "the cookie" I mean my money.
I would love to see the Game Pad do this for the iPad as well as Android so as to not limit themselves to one operating system and therefor pleasing a lot more of the fan base overall.

The Combat Pad does not qualify as "bound printed matter" and it weighs too much for first class so, if shipping by itself, we can't use those either of those options.
thanks

Just include one of your bound and printed little product catalogs in with the package and then it should meet the requirement.

It doesn't *quite* work that way. To qualify as Bound Printed Matter, at least 50% of the contents (by weight) must be bound printed matter. So a catalog won't do it, but buying a book along with it might...

Ha ha, only goes up to 20 rounds. I know a defensive low damage monk that would drag combats out longer. His ac phenomenal, his damage terrible.
This is due to a rarely used and obscure rule that says that a fight that is not decided within 20 rounds must be declared a draw. Unless you want to go to a penalty shoot-out.
20 rounds is only two minutes, quite a short amount of time really. Especially if there is a lot of skirmishing and moving. Another one that went over twenty rounds, an old melee ranger with increased speed against a fighter dervish with scim (great in close, I'll give that). Started with a fight on a cliff slope for some time, dervish tried to get out of there after taking some damage, then a pursuit and some attack rolls, went to melee on flatter ground, ranger got back and kept back from the really nasty in-fighting, dervish couldn't close. He ran out of dervish dance, went to fatigued. The ranger harassed the dervish for a few more hours until he went to exhausted and eventually collapsed.
Old man took his time. The party learned something about fighting that day.
Extremely interested in this product, having seen it in action at a Society game. Saved us a lot of time setting up init, as well as avoiding confusion (IE: whose turn is it?)
Same question as many others: when will this be available? Perhaps some insight? Its a very useful product but being on backorder status really does it no honor.
Thanks, Feros. I certainly hope more of you get to use the product. Maybe under the Pathfinder brand it'll be even spiffier! Being an owner of the original, I'd say the packaging could see an update. It's difficult to stick it back in the original plastic sleeve. Maybe it was never intended to do so, I don't know.
We'll be giving them a redesign, and we'll actually be responsible for manufacturing (previous, Open Mind Games did that part). We've already got printer samples we're happy with, and the redesign is in progress; it'll take a few months to get them printed and shipped, though.

Disclaimer: this app was programmed by a friend of mine and player in one of my groups. But it's awesome!
You can tell your player that you just made a sale for him. I've been using an app called "Tabletop Initative Tracker" for over two years now, and I've had his app installed for 5 minutes, but I've already decided to switch.

You know what I'd really like, and they'd probably be dirt cheap to produce?
Pathfinder branded Initiative Cards. I don't use a pad, and never will, because I find it so darn handy to do things like add 4 boxes when someone's stunned for 4 rounds so I can check them off or to track hp on the card itself or to note ability damage as well as hp damage.
Regular index cards are so darn cheap that I can't imagine not buying piles of Pathfinder ones :)

Does that mean that we won't see these come off back order until then??
I went looking for a replacement after our gaming group, ah, "appropriated" mine to use at DunDraCon and none of the stores within 30 miles of us had any in stock.
My game changer was investing in a fine point marker. Now I've divided each PC name magnet into quadrents. Top-left quadrent for the character name, bottom-left for initiative modifier, the top-right quadrent I write the acronyms "AC, FF, T", (AC, flat-footed, touch), and bottom-left I write the relevant stats. Now I don't have to keep asking my players if a particular roll hits them or not. Greatly speeds up combat.
Thank you for the quick reply. I guess we'll have to improvise for the convention, and check back around April ....
I've seen a few hobby shops around Sydney that still have this item on shelf. Maybe if you shop around a bit in your local area you can find a shop with some old stock.
Any idea on a release date for the redesigned product? Just curious as I'm looking forward to picking this up for my table.
Our design is done... but we're using a new manufacturer, and are just to the point of approving samples. I'd guess we're three months out, but I could be wrong in either direction!
