The group of hearty adventurers springs into action before the wormies have a chance to react.
Balon gently lays the head of the woman on the ground and is still able to neatly avoid a probing worm arm that was aimed for his face. Calling on his mental powers, he sends a blast of energy at the closest wormy but it has no obvious effect.
Nasir, unlike Balon, simply drops the legs of the wounded woman to the ground. Luckily for her, he wasn't carrying the upper body. Using his trusted Verred, he thrusts into the central wormy of the creature closest to him which triggers some sort of reaction that makes the wormies come apart. The central wormy turns black and dies while the other worms that make up the creature fall to the ground temporarily stunned. The monster that attacked Balon with one probing worm arm, aims another at Nasir which he easily ducks away from.
Amadeus, either by luck or skill, manages to replicate the feat of Nasir, again striking the center wormy in exactly the right way to have the creature come apart. A few stunned wormies surround a dead and blackened wormy on the ground. The third creature, tries to kick Amadeus with a wormy leg but he manages to hold it off with his shield.
Galahad seems a bit slower than normal in his attack as it lacks his usual panache and his swing at the last worm creature completely and utterly misses the monster. Luckily for him, he is still graceful enough to sway away from the arm of the last creature which reaches for his face.
Callidus, calling on his cybernetics in conjunction with the Numenera sends a bolt of power lancing into the last of the creatures. It appears to be unaffected as it sends its last worm arm directly into the face of the brave Nano. Somehow, that arm detaches from the primary host and firmly attaches itself to Callidus' face. He can feel tendrils trying to penetrate through his skin.

You can apply effort to both rolls. To apply two levels of effort to a single dice roll requires Lvl 2 in effort.

Round 2 summary
Callidus grabs the wriggling worm and manages to pull it off his face. Holding it with both hands, the worm is defenseless against Nasir's attack. He quickly and calmly bisects the struggling worm into 2 exactly even pieces which Callidus happily let's drop to the floor. Luckily he was able to pry the worm off before it could do any damage. The only sign that he had barely missed becoming a worm womb was the angry looking red circle in the center of his face.
Balon changes tack and strikes against the 'intellect' of the worm creature. After witnessing what happens when the center worm is destroyed he figures that it contains what ever passes for brains in the weird creatures. His bolt of force is visible as it strikes the dead center of the creature which reacts with a shudder. Galahad tries to take advantage of the creatures wound with a looping, graceful attack with his Dao but somehow manages to miss again. You all take heart though in the way he moves during the fight.
Amadeus is enveloped in a flaming shroud as he walks into the middle of the stunned worms. The stench is horrible as the worms catch fire and burn.
The last creature somehow realizes that Balon's attack was the only one that hurt it and launches a second arm at his face. Unfortunately for our Nano, he now knows how those poor flutter-byes must feel when he singles them out for attack. The worm firmly attaches itself to Balon's face.
Thus endeth round 2

Balon pulls the worm off of his face before it can force its tendrils through his nasal cavity and into his brain. He holds it as Galahad stylishly slices in two.
Callidus, learning from his friends example, shoots a beam of force into the central piece of the creature, which causes a more violent shuddering, followed by the beast disintegrating into its constituent parts.
Amadeus wades through the worms on the floor, his internal fires crisping them as he moves along.
Nasir makes a half hearted swing at the creature just as it flies apart causing him to connect with nothing but air.
The last of the worms a smoking pile on the floor, you can see that the corridor ahead is open and straight. It continues downward for another 50 feet or so before entering a perfectly round room. The sound of the 'machinery' is almost deafening.
Boregal begins to zip around the room excitedly..."I bet that this is the engine room of this vessel. Oh my, look at all of the panels and controls...this is the most amazing engineering I have ever heard of."

Aubster |

Balon checks around. Any reflective surfaces?
Lots and lots of reflective surfaces are visible...Spanning the entire circumforance of the room except for the corridor you used to enter is one solid curved reflective surface. Starting half way up the wall and going to the ceiling it appears to be of one continuous piece of shiny black reflective surface. Below that all the way around the room are various consoles all topped by their own reflective surfaces.

Balon Marr |

Seeing that his appearance is as immaculate as can be expected, given the circumstances, Balon sets his now distraction-free mind to the task of understanding the controls and panels nearby.

Working together Callidua and Balon discover the first level of controls that they can access. Standing on opposite sides of the room, they simultaneously press their hands flat on a pair of consoles. Applying Numenera power pulled from deep within themselves (-1 to intellect pool for both), they activate the wrap-around screens above your heads.
At first, the images make no sense but working together they tweak the controls and the fuzzy images suddenly come into unbelievably clear focus. Using some unknown technology, the screen splits into many different images running at the same time. Most of the images show you unexplored parts of the ships but your attention is quickly fixated on two images.
The first shows you the incubation room that you had passed through earlier. However the scene has changed in the few minutes since you left. Now something has shut off the containment fields and your horrified eyes take in a sight straight from nightmares as everywhere you look in the room you see worms bursting from their human hosts. Most of the humans are already dead but to complete the nightmare picture a few of the humans have survived their parasites and now lie on the floor screaming in pain and terror.
As your minds try to cope with the hell you see on the screen, Boregal projects a sound into your mind of abject despair..."Oh no, oh no...look here...". Your gazes are drawn to a small section of the screen that somehow shows you a view of the outside ship and reveals by far the worst image yet. It shows masses of the worm creatures flowing out of the ship and up the walls of the pit. You imagine that you can almost hear the screams of terror from the townspeople. Already, unconscious humans are being carried back into the ship.

Nasir of the Kiln |

"Hnnnn!", Nasir grunts, shocked.
He looks across the controls and the images, searching mainly on instinct for some idea of how to prevent things from spiraling further out of control.

You believe that working together you could trigger a massive explosion that would destroy all the worms...and the town...and a few miles of countryside. You also realize that there is likely no power in the 9th world that could stop the worms if they expand beyond the town.

Balon Marr |

Balon's mouth is open, in shock and terror. He glances back and forth between boregal and nasir as they discuss their only options. Wordlessly, he covers his face with his palm and nods silent assent to their only, black, option.

Nano Callidus |

A life of living on the streets surviving as a petty criminal leads Callidus down a cognitive path, "Is that woman unconscious?", assuming she still is, ," If we let ... if she lives, and she knows what happened here ... that could come back to haunt us. Once we incinerate this site, no one will know how bad these things were ... it will be our word against the horror of wiping out an entire town."
"Just saying it might be better to not let anyone know we chose to do this ..."

Balon Marr |

"it's our only chance," Balon insists, quietly. "She has to understand that."

Nasir of the Kiln |

Nasir's eye lingers on the unconscious woman for a long moment.
"Witnesses can make or break a reputation...", he muses,"... but I believe the point is moot in one way: we don't have time to rouse her. Perhaps contrary to what someone might think, I'm not cold-blooded enough to just cut her throat and be done with it, on the chance she doesn't appreciate our efforts. We put too much into saving her, besides. Balon will have to break it to her gently when- if- we get out of here."

Nano Callidus |

"Well, let's see what this thing can do ..."
His contribution ...
Callidus begins accessing the controls and making adjustments ... "I'm empty on cyphers that can help."
